    3week postop questions

It could be acid, or if it has been a while since you ate, it could be hunger. Don't pull that glue off, it will come when it's supposed to. The eggs don't have to be pureed just chew well. Eggs is the one food I can't eat so far, only a month out. I don't think I could do a cup of soup in that time or maybe at all. I would slow it down a little and get used to really taking your time eating. Good luck!!
  2. I have tried it just in one of my choc protein shakes with milk and it was good. I have heard that you can put 2 tbsp in a container of plain greek yogurt with a packet of artificial sweetener and the claim is that it tastes like a Reeses! That sounds like a stretch but I bought the yogurt and will try this weekend.

    My little, miserable story... 1/10

It will get better, I promise. My surgery was on 12/18 and the first week or so is not a picnic. Try to get as much liquid and activity as possible to get that gas out of there. Hang in there.
  4. I wasn't prescribed any but have had heartburn quite a bit and my pcp told me I could take zantac-probably gonna try pepcid or prilosec cause zantac isn't quite doing it.

    Heartburn Prior to Surgery

I was diagnosed with gerd a few years ago but not a terrible case. My surgeon mentioned the same thing but when he asked if I got heartburn much and I said not really then he wasn't worried about it? I have had heartburn since and have been taking Zantac which does help. My surgeon said that it will get better its just that there is no room in there right now. 1 month out tomorrow.

Does anyone have any Torani syrup for sale?

If you are having trouble finding it in store, Meijer's carries it.

    One month post op

Thank you for sharing-I'm a month out on tues and I've lost 15 and also getting frustrated at reading about the huge losses. I have noticed a huge difference in clothes fitting mostly and I fortunately am doing really well on the energy front-getting in protein well but need to work on total fluid amount. Looking forwarded to starting soft foods next week. Keep up the good work!!

    Pool shoes

I have New Balance and they are great and then I think it's Ryka or Avia makes a good one. My instructor wears them and they seem to last forever.

    Weird pain... help?

I forgot to tell you when I had pain initially I was told I could ice it for 20 min at a time. See if that helps at all.

    Weird pain... help?

I just saw my pcp today with a similar complaint. My big incision is on the right hand side and the pain had gotten better and then all of a sudden is worse. I can feel a big lump under there as well. I was sleeved 12/18. When I laid down and he touched it was fine but when I stood up then he could feel the lump but didn't think it was liver or stomach and thought it was my skin or that I had pulled a muscle. He said he pushed 2 inches in and wasn't getting anything. I just think that all of that stuff in there takes time to heal. Hope you feel better soon.
  12. I was sleeved on 12/18 and was doing really well and then yesterday I started feeling more pain at the area where my biggest incision was internally. It's not horrible but it just almost feels like a pulling or something. When I press the area, I can feel a hard lump which maybe was always there but if it was I never noticed it. Of course I never pressed it before. Has anyone experienced this? I see my physician on Monday but its not the surgeon and I don't know if they will know anything.
  13. I'm on puree right now and can relate to what you are saying. I tried scrambled eggs and they did not work. I didn't puke but kept kind of feeling something come up and stop at my throat. Very uncomfortable and I was glad I had gone slow and only took a couple bites. Don't try new stuff except for at home. I go back to work monday and I'm just going to do shakes or yogurt for now. Good luck.

    weird pain question

It's kind of all the time. But I sneezed a couple times and was fine then-when I was first recovering it was murder to sneeze. I have had a lot of gas today so I'm hoping that is it. Like Kendra said maybe its something with the staples. Do you guys feel a lump at all or did you at any time?

    protein shakes

Your nutritionist should give you a list of protein grams in common foods. At some point, we should be able to cut down the shakes to one or none but this is basically going to be an atkins type lifestyle.

    Guide me...

Well there are restrictions for everyone on what can be taken together so that's normal even without surgery. I have to take multi 1x a day, calcium citrate 2x a day, b12 1x a day, colace 2x a day, actigall 2x a day and then I choose to take a probiotic.

11 days post op probs with protein

Just keep drinkiing the shakes-they taste better when cold so you may have to keep refrigerating them again. Unjury makes a chicken soup flavor that tastes good and is lighter because its water not milk. Also I did some of the fruit protein powders with juice which is again a little lighter. I think we are used to just drinking stuff down and not realizing that we can't anymore but even if it takes you all morning just keep working on it. Isopure is like a juice and has a ton of protein but the taste isn't good. But you got to get that protein in. Hope that helps.

STARVING on Preop diet, day 3

The key for the preop is protein, if you are making the shakes with water, try with milk and you can add powdered milk. As far as sugar free popsicles, Edy's has fruit bars that are no sugar added that are pretty good. I ate a lot of raw vegetables with greek yogurt dip on my preop. It's hard to follow up but it will go quicker than you think. Hang in there!

    Weird new pain

I have had a lot of back pain that comes and goes and I have figured it was sleeping weird, etc. A lot of times pain will radiate to different places from the origin so it could literally be from your stomach. Try to keep getting that fluid in, lots and lots. good luck.

    Kinda Down...Need to Vent :(

I was sleeved on 12/18 and am doing pretty well with getting protein in. I have to believe your situation will improve. I have experienced a lot of regret since doing this and today when i went for my follow up and got cleared for puree and all activity it's about the best I have felt. You just have to give your body time to heal and everyone is different. Just try to get fluids in as much as possible because dehydration, even slight, will cause lots of problems. Hang in there!!!

    Princess Half Marathon

I'm so jealous!!!! That race looks like a lot of fun and I'm going to try to do it in 2014. You can always walk and just talk to your dr about the best ideas for hydration and refueling during the race because I think people usually eat something or have a gel midway through. Someone mentioned that Disney gives you 3.5 hours and I even thought it was 4 so that should be enough time. Good luck with your training!!

    Post op exercise

I was sleeved on 12/18 and after a week I was lifting light weights. I was told that was fine as long as they were no more than 3 lbs each. I have not had any pain or problems with them but I was lifting heavier weights before surgery so I'm sure that helps in that respect. I have been feeling a little on the woozy side occasionally and have been too nervous to do the treadmill. I was hoping to start water aerobics this week-I see my surgeon on wed for followup but I still have 4 of the 7 steri strips on so I don't know if they will clear me for it.
  23. It sounds like you and I were sleeved the same day and I have had coughing and sneezing as well but not where I felt I needed to be seen by dr. It hurts and I too was worried about doing damage but it's probably really unlikely. I am getting a lot more in than you though so maybe it's due to your illness. I am able to get most of my fluids and protein in. Hope you're feeling better soon and I'm sure the albuterol is absolutely fine.
