I think both have their advantages, some people are more social than others and find the live contact far more helpful, making that human connection, pat on the hand, look of understanding, smiles of encouragement all that you cant get from a computer screen. But on the other hand some people dont need that or are not able to get to live meetings such as myself. Being a truck driver I cant make a live support group but the support online is always there when I need it.
So I think there is a need for having the option of both!

What I find ironic is how many sleevers like to complain when someone calls WLS the "easy way out", but then get upset that it isn't just that. Guess what? Your weight will always be a struggle--FOR LIFE!! The pounds won't fall off in a week, and when they're gone it still requires hard work to keep them gone.

I read something but cant find it again but it explains simply how the sleeve works and why some foods fill you up and others slide...basically you have a valve at the base of your stomach dense Protein rich foods will close this valve quickly and that is why they tell you protein first so that closes and you dont over eat.
Slider foods usually not the good for your new lifestyle foods will not trigger this valve and just slide on through which means no full feeling and more calories.
Also check out Emilybites.com for some yummy meals made in cupcake tins called cupcake meals...perfect size normal food and your family will love them too!

No one said you need to know "every nuance" of what was going to happen to you, but c'mon!
"I had NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO F*$N CLUE about alllllllllll of the changes that I do NOT like. Allow me to vent:
    1. The fact that I will never be able to eat more than a 1/2 to cup of food (maybe thaaaaat's not too bad...LOL)

    2. The fact that I will have to FOR.EVER try to get "60-80 g" of Protein EVERY DAY! FOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER. That is F&$& HARD to do"
Spend 30 minutes on the internet reading and researching and you would have known all of this well before you made this decision.

I love when people tell me "o your not that big" as im pushing almost 300lbs..I just smile and say you want my body for a few days?
When you can no longer take the weight mentally or physically and you know you have tried your best and worst (unsafe measures) to lose it, its time. Only you live in your body and know when your ready BMI is only a number.
    Good luck!

I'm 7 mos out and would never dream of eating more than a little bit at a meal. This is why I had the surgery and love it.
Actually, the new small amount you will be eating (less than a cup) is NORMAL for a human. We are so conditioned to over eat that we no longer know what a normal serving is. I'm so glad I can no eat and LOOK like a pig.

It amazes me how many healthcare workers will tell people "you don't look big enough for that surgery". When we started doing bariatric surgery at our facility, the bariatric surgeon gave all the nurses in the OR/Recovery Room an
informational session about bariatric surgery. The first rule he said is NEVER say that to a patient! He said that they did a lot of work to get to the day of surgery and patients find it very insulting. How true!!!
