Weightloss and excess skin
ttgalaxsea replied to Momof3JML's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to say but I don't think there is anything you can do about the loose skin. I exercise, do weight training, use a firming cream, etc...and still I have a ton of loose skin but you know what I am no longer 308 pounds and I feel great. Do my boobs sag...yup, do my legs and arms sag,,,,yup but wouldn't go back for anything in this world....loose skin and all. -
Are you eating dense protein first. Even when I feel like eating something "bad" I eat a piece of chicken, a couple slices of turkey breast or a hard boiled egg first, this limits the amount of "bad" food I can eat. I never eat anything without eating protein first...give it a try.

Anyone Have A Relatively Easy Recovery Story?
ttgalaxsea replied to Birdy18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will do great!!! I had my surgery on September 25, 2012 9 months ago...I started at 308 and this morning weighed in at 180. The best decision I have ever made in my life!!!! I woke up from surgery without an ounce of pain...no discomfort...nothing. I actually thought they didn't do the surgery and than I thought I was numb from the surgery but I never had an ounce of pain or discomfort at all. Never needed pain meds not even Tylenol. I never had any nausea or vomiting and still don't. I am able to eat everything just a small amount. I had my surgery done at Community Hospital in Toms River NJ by Dr.McCaughan. I was up walking 5 minutes after being brought back to my room and I think that was the best thing to do...walk walk walk. Good Luck and only positive thoughts. Yay you!!!!! -
Never had a problem with dumping. If I eat to much which I have twice I get the foamies....feels like I'm gonna throw up and a ton of foamy liquid in my mouth but I never actually threw up. I haven't eaten a ton of sugar but I have had some.

Special K has a high protein cereal and with skim milk is high protein. I also like ham and cheese roll ups. -

I also ate a ton of carbs for 2 days and than stopped all carbs for a week and lost 5 pounds. Can't hurt to try....
-
Why don't you try the 5 day pouch test. Maybe it will help. Cut out all carbs for a week. I did this when I was in a stall and lost 6 pound that week. I have now done it twice. Good Luck!!!!

Such a good feeling....congrats!!!!

Oh no... Getting Sleeved while on my period
ttgalaxsea replied to Bree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on day three of my period when I had the surgery. I told the nurse on the day of surgery and she gave me a pair of mesh panties and a pad....she said it's not a big deal so many women have their periods when they go for surgery. My period stopped after the surgery and I didn't get it again until the next month. Everything was fine. Don't worry....it's not a big deal. Good Luck!!!!!! -
I was sleeved on September 25, 2013 and back to work 5 days later. I had absolutely no pain, vomiting, nothing at all. I was up walking 15 minutes after getting back to my room and I walked walked walked. I have now lost 100 pounds and feel great. I still have no issues what so ever.....good luck!!!!!

BunnyDee, Here is the recipe for the Italian Wedding Soup. 1 Quart of Chicken Stock (Homemade or a good store bought. Not broth use the stock. 1 lb of ground chicken 1 clove chopped garlic 1/2 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. basil 1 egg 1/4 cup bread crumbs 2 large heads or escarole or 2 bags of spinach parmigiana cheese (grated) salt & pepper to taste. Put chicken stock in large soup pot. Mix all other ingredients except escarole or spinach and salt & pepper.Form tiny meatballs and drop into soup that is on a high simmer. Add the escarole or spinach and simmer for 30 minutes. Add salt & pepper to taste. Sprinkle parmigiana cheese on top of soup after served in bowls. So yummy and easy. You can also add pasta if you would like but I don't miss it a bit.

I am 5 months out today and have lost 97 pounds. Like you said, protein doesn't feel good however I eat a ton of homemade soups that I put a ton of meat in....my favorite is Italian Wedding Soup. I put a ton of chicken meatballs, spinach or escarole and chicken broth. It goes down great and taste yummy. Sprinkle with parmigiana cheese right before you eat it. I don't put any pasta and I don't miss it a bit. Also I make beef veggie soup and cut the meat really tiny. Try it!!!!! Great job on your weight lose, obviously your doing something right.

I Know exactly what you mean...it sometimes takes all day to get the protein in. I think what is meant is that if you graze all day on slider type foods....crackers, pretzels, chips, nuts, etc... If you are eating lean protein thats a good thing.

How long did you take off work?
ttgalaxsea replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took off 4 days of work. I had no pain at all after surgery however I did get tired during the day. If possible try taking a 15 minute nap at lunch. You should be fine with taking a week off but everyone is different. Good Luck!!!! -
Well tomorrow is our 4 month Sugiversary...yay for us. I have now lost 88 pounds....27 pounds before surgery and 61 since. I went from 308 to 220...just 21 more pounds to be out of the 2's. I feel great. I also struggle to get in my protein and water. I am drinking protein shakes to get the protein. I am able to eat everything. Never had a bit of pain or vomiting since the surgery. I never needed any pain meds and was up walking 15 minutes after being brought back to my room from recovery. I had my surgery on September 25, 2012 and was back to work on October 1, 2012...6 days later. I workout 5 days a week for an hour. So happy I did this and wish I would have done it years ago....
