    **confession**

OK..if it is confession time, then I have one. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and today I ate a small brownie and a cookie. I took very small bights and chewed, but I did it and feel guilty as hell. But, tomorrow is another day and I plan on following diet to a tee!

I agree with Traci, Alot of it is head hunger. It is quite a change. Hang on..it will get better.

Has anyone had a baby before a year post op

One of the issues is that your body is still getting used to this change and your body needs all the vits (prob more) that you are taking in. If you get pregnant now, your body would not give up any nutrients for the baby and the baby definitely needs them. I would most certainly consult with your Dr. and nutritionist. Tell hubby you will just have to keep practicing for the time being. Practicing is fun too!

    Sleeved yesterday!

Take it slow! the 2 things you need to worry about is 1. healing and 2. drinking your liquids very slow! You will feel better and better ea. day. Hang in there! You can do this!
  5. Wow, what a time you have had. Don't really know what to stay except hang in there. I know you won't give up because of your beautiful family. Starlight, I know you researched this procedure and did everything you were told to do to get ready for this surgery. So, no regrets. It is a waste of your time and energy. Hang in there, this to shall pass. If you are a Christian then you know where to look for your strength. I will be praying for you for a healing and for the strength and understanding for your husband and family.

    Recovery time

I think esp being a nurse you need the time. This time will give you an opportunity to plan how you are going to eat and drink while at work. We all know that nursing is unpredictable. It can go from 0 to 100 in minutes back to 20 in the next. You need this time to get used to the new way of eating and figure out how you are going to do this at work. As far as your co-workers, they should know that it isn't instant skinny. Also, that a slow weight loss is a healthier one. Cut yourself some slack and take it one day at a time. Also you did this for yourself. Not your coworkers. Good luck and keep us posted.
  7. Week four and feeling better!

  8. Is there a nutritionist you could see? I found I was able to tol liquids better after I slowed down in amount of time to drink. What I thought were sips were actually to much. I went to half sips. I had to change protien powder to unflavored. Helped some. I went through kaiser and they have a whole center of Dr's and nutritionists and PA's who follow you. If you have kaiser then chek there. Good luck. Hang in there. One day at a time motto works for me.
  9. I was sleeved on Nov 26. Weigh in at hospital= 210lbs. On 12/4 I weigh 203lbs. I am really not worried about the weight loss. I know it will happen. I am trying to change my way of thinking! A lick of a potato chip won't hurt. Thoughts like that slip in from no where. I even found myself trying to get my family to eat what I am craving. CRAZY! I am having a difficult time with the protein shakes. What I loved before surgery, now upsets my stomach. Even the mandatory daily meds upset my stomach. The nausea pills..same. They are too sweet! I now have unflavored protein powder and it is a little easier to take. I want to eat! So, that is where I am at. I have read it gets better and easier. That is what I am living for..moment by moment!

    4 Days Post-Op & Overwhelmed

Newbie, I too am only 5 days post-op. It is difficult. You need to be purposeful in following the diet given. To the best of your ability. There will be changes that have to be made as you go along. Be flexible and know that. I bought a 5lb jar of protein powder that tasted delicious to me before surg. Now..makes me gag. I will be trying something else tomorrow when I can get out to the stores. Did you try strained cream of wheat? Try making your own broth. I made a vegetable broth (small container) before surg. Glad I did. I could not tolerate the chicken or beef broth that was served in the hosp. Today I bought Pho' soup for the broth and it is delicious! I had to strain it first, let it cool then strain again to remove the fat but it is good stuff! Keep trying different stuff, and DON'T give up! You can do this! Good luck.

    Stomach Pain After Eating

Sounds like you need to talk with your Dr.
  12. I am 5 days post op. I am on day 2 of full liquid diet. The protien shakes are now to sweet! So is the post op meds I need to take. They really make me gag. Anyone with ideas of how to sweeten down the shakes? I have a vanilla powder with 34 gms of protien.
