  1. Psych Dr. just called and said i passed! yipppeee...He said he already faxed it over to Surgeons office. Now the waiting game begins
  2. Wow, that is pretty much what i thought it would be for me also! I was dying in there trying to remember portion sizes, time frames and what intestines would be attached to my pouch and why...LOL
  3. Best of Luck tomorrow!...will be waiting to hear back from you when you get back home.
  4. Had my psychological evaluation done today and it was nothing what i thought it would be. I thought it would be just to make sure i was "sane" enough to have surgery ... Turns out...the first half was a one on one with the Dr. He asked me to explain in detail what would happen in surgery...I had to explain in detail what phase 1 of the post op diet would be and explain in detail what phase 2 of the diet would be. I had to explain to him what would happen if I didn't follow the diet exactly. I also had to explain what my portion sizes would be for the rest of my life to keep from gaining the weight back. I think i "passed" the test...he seemed pleased with my answers on the verbal part. The next half of my visit was 360 questions that required a yes or no answer. I did that test out in the waiting area. This all took about 2 hours. After that was done...I was free to go. He said he would call me tomorrow with "results" and send them to my surgeon. I already seen the nutritionist last week. I have all insurance requirements done. I'll wait a few days and call my surgeons office to see if they have submitted to my insurance yet....or to see how long it will take until they do. So far, it has been smooth sailing (knock on wood)...just hoping i passed the psych test! Has anybody on here ever "failed" the psych test?
  5. update: I have bcbs of Illinois ppo...They only require me to see a dietitian and psycho exam. I already seen the dietitian and see the psychologist Monday. After that is done it will be submitted for approval. My first visit with the Dr. was Jan. 30th. That was to just talk to the doctor and to make sure i was within the bmi range for the surgery..then we discussed the best surgery for me. It's going pretty fast . Keeping fingers crossed i get approved. The nurse said surgery could be late March early April
  6. Thanks for posting the above link DLove41. This will help so many. I just download my form and going to take it to my next surgeon appt.
  7. Can any bariatric patient request this...or do you have to be low income or no insurance?
  8. I started posting as soon as i knew i wanted to have surgery...a bit pre-mature I know I just had so many questions and who else better to ask then the people who are going through it. So many articles on the web that tell you different things. I needed answers to specific questions and found this is the place. Keep posting and keep us updated on your progress.
  9. Congratulations!...When i need a lift me up...i come read the positive post also.
  10. I had a catheter once and it felt like bad menstrual cramps...I could not wait for them to take it out!...these drain tube stories have me worried though :/
  11. I'll be 50 in November ...Just starting my journey. Already met with the surgeon. Next week is nutritionist and then the 18th I have my psychological evaluation. After that, it will be submitted to insurance for approval. Keeping fingers crossed it all goes as planned. Can't believe i actually made that first step. Would love to hear other stories in our age group.
  12. How are you doing now that you are a few weeks post op?
  13. Oh wow copmom....I'll have to ask my dr. next visit also.
  14. Do all patients who have the rny procedure get drain tubes?
  15. What insurance do you all have? I have bcbs of Illinois ppo.
  16. You all are doing so great! This right here is why i love visiting this forum.
  17. Thanks ya'll...i know some fear is normal but i have been consumed with fear. Today is much better though. I already had my first visit with my surgeon. The next two weeks i will have the psychological evaluation and visit with the dietitian Then it will be submitted to insurance for approval. The nurse said surgery could be late March or April. I don't have to do the 3 or 6 month diet. Trying my best to stay positive
  18. Last few days all i been able to think about is all the things that can go wrong during and after surgery. I came across a forum that was talking about the risk and it really put some fear in me. From this day on....I refuse to read anymore horror stories and try to focus on the good that will come from having this surgery. My mind has been all over the place :/
  19. Well...i'm 49 so i might as well follow this group ....I had my first surgeon visit this past Wednesday and have the dietitian and psychological evaluation coming up in the next two weeks. I was so exicted....now i'm getting really scared. I came across a forum last night that was nothing but horror stories from people who had gasric bypass. I should of stopped reading it.but for some reason i didn't :/....I've been watching youtube videos and reading this board today to try to ease my fears. Anybody else pre- op having second thoughts about the surgery?
  20. I have a hard enough time getting to sleep in my own bed :/....I wonder if they will give you ambien to knock you out. That will work
  21. Hi There...i was going to PM you but can't find the button to do it. How did your first Dr. Appt. go today...Would love to hear all the details ...and what was accomplished this first visit.
  22. thanks! I guess it all does depend on the individual and if the surgeon thinks you should have it done. I guess each person and case is different.
  23. If you already have two of the required comorbidities to qualify for surgery with a bmi of 35...Would you still be required to get a sleep study done? So many questions
  24. Were you able to hook yourself up to the machine or did the technician have to come in and do it?
