Port/Bra
I wear an underwire, I wore one home from the hospital ( I had to wear one) and had no problems. Perhaps you could tell your doctor that you wear underwire, I believe that they had several options of where they put the port.

Surgery scheduled
Good luck and I am so sorry that you have to go through both so close together. You are in good hands with Dr. Abkin and Morristown Memorial is an excellent hospital. I too like the nurse at the orientation class. I haven't made it to the supporet class yet, hopefully this month. Hope to see you there. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

gas pains
I had gas pains for the first week, no shoulder pain but stomach pain. I really wanted to burp. After the first week it was all a distant memory!! I used a heating pad and walked as much as I could.Don't worry it gets better every day.

Restriction Question
I know that I don't have restriction because I have never had a fill. Last night I waited too long to eat and I ate a piece of chicken kind of fast. I felt like there was a rock in my chest, it eventually passed but I don't understand. I thought that everything went down easy until a fill. It usually take me 25 minutes to eat a chicken breast and a little bit of salad, could there be something wrong or is this the way it should be. I am following protien first and then salad, I am not hungry but I am never really full.

Is my Optifast bad?
When I did optifast several years ago, the chocolate came out looking like chocolate milk, all one consistency. I would return it to the dr that you got it from and explain the problem.
-
Surgery scheduled
I was back to work in four days.

How Will I Survive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did Optifast for about 5 months back in 1987, I lost weight the only pain in the rear was the blood work that I had to do. I do know that if I had had to drink it without equal I don't think I could have gotten it down. From what I understand they also have soup and ready make drinks now. They didn't have that when i did it. It's really not that bad, after about 3 days you stop being hungry.

Hopefully surgery will be very soon
good luck! I had my surgery a couple of weeks ago, the only regret is that i didn't do it sooner. Your house sounds like mine with the animals!! They do provide comfort the days following the surgery. The boxer will love the long walks you will be taking her on to get you exerice.

Surgery scheduled
Dr. Abkin is wonderful. You will in the pre-op area for about an hour or so, I got so nervous, my mohter was there to talk to me but if she hadn't been I would have gone crazy. Wear loose clothes to go home in. I ws in and out in 6 hours. That includes the 2 hour before surgery time. Take it easy when you get home but make sure that you walk, it was the only thing that relieved the gas pains for me. Good Luck!!!

Feeling Too Normal
I was banded on July 11 and feel the exact same way, I haven't been brave enough to try anything hard but other than that I know exactly what you are saying. I don't think we did this all for nothing, I think we will get restriction when we get a fill or two. Everyone here says the first 6 weeks is for healing. I sure hope they are right. Congrats on the 20 pounds!!!

Where is Everyone ?

Feel like a failure after lecture from doc yesterday..
I think that I would and will jump up and down when I reach the 38 pound mark, you should keep up the good work and know in your heart that you can do this, you will not be one of the people that the band doesn't work for because you are trying!!

2 days post op - gas relief
I am 12 days post op and felt the way that you did. It does pass, quite literally, I found that walking and just moving around helped. I also found that once I could drink warm liquids they seemd to help.

Why can't I burp?
Thank you both. Burping has never been one of my favorite pastimes but I really miss it right now. It makes sense that everything is swollen and will take time.

A Big Fat Pig
I am so sorry someone said that to you, I give you credit for saying nothing to her, I would have made it worse by shooting off my mouth. Like someone just said. What goes around comes around. Perhaps she will find somone or something else she can hurt. People like that always do. They are really very unhappy idiots.
