August 14, 200520 yr I think it varies from person to person. Mine started about 3 days after surgery and lasted for two weeks (the shoulder tip pain). It had me in tears a time or two, which isn't an easy feat (unless I'm watching a sappy romance movie lol). It will soon go away though, when all of the gas is gone and you'll be feeling fantastic.

August 15, 200520 yr I had very bad pain in my shoulder immedietly after I woke up from surgery. My Dr. said it was from the gas. It subsided by later that evening and was completly gone by the following morning before I was discharged. I agree that everyone seems to have a little different experience with it. All I can say is that I am glad mine didn't last to long because I never imagined everyone meant gas pain that bad! It made me cry, but then I was up and walking within a few hours of surgery I think that probably helped. I had a patio outside of my room so I would walk out there and enjoy the fresh air.
August 15, 200520 yr I had gas pains for the first week, no shoulder pain but stomach pain. I really wanted to burp. After the first week it was all a distant memory!! I used a heating pad and walked as much as I could.Don't worry it gets better every day.
How long does the gas pains last?
