maharet111 got a reaction from Oak Park Lorena in dating and body issues...
Not everyone is on here because they didn't like the package they were offering. I loved my curves but I didn't like huffing and puffing climbing up two flights of stairs. I didn't like binging and purging and being depressed because I didn't feel like I could change that. However I always loved my corsets and how I looked etc. I never wanted for attention or guys.
I think your statement should really be:
"I am having trouble loving my body, if you love me, you will love it for me" Isn't that what a partner does? Fills in the holes where you can't?
    Just my two cents

maharet111 got a reaction from DonRodolfo in I have a very personal question!
So I don't know if I am the oddball or what..but my boyfriend and I had a very active sex life before surgery and if it is even possible I want it MORE..MUCH MORE..after surgery.
The weight loss is part of it but the thing I love is how much more flexible I am and how we can use different positions and how Tanga panties look on me etc.
I will admit that my boyfriend thinks I have lost my ever loving mind and is sometimes afraid to come to my house lol..but I think a lot of this is mental for me, that I want it more because I feel he desires me more.
Work on getting that food and calories in and Multivitamins too! I am 5 months out and drink one shake a day to recover from work outs but I get in around 130 grams of Protein and 1,200 calories. I have so much energy!

Use that picture to fuel you, to motivate you, to remind you why when you start to crave crappy stuff...
I don't know when your surgery is, but a couple of months from that date, take another set of pictures and put them side by side..I guarantee if you have worked the program, you will be blow away by the change.
We all have body image issues. I was drowning in clothes after I lost 50 pounds but I didn't see that change in the mirror. But the funny thing was once I went and bought a couple of things that fit..THEN I was like..wow I can tell the difference.

maharet111 reacted to dustin551 in A way to think about stalls
    Was thinking of this today.
Get an empty two liter plastic bottle and fill it with Water. Take it to the sink and turn it over and squeeze. A bunch of water will come out quickly. Now stop squeezing and watch what happens. Water stops coming out and the bottle tries to regain its shape. Once it regains the shape, water will start coming out again.
That's exactly what is happening when you have a stall. That's why you'll see the measuring tape change even if the scale isn't. Your body is just catching up and redistributing before it starts again.

That WOD's in Crossfit were named after women..my trainer this morning says..we are going to do a Cindy. I just looked at him like he had lost his mind. So he explained they have Girl Names because only a woman can make you feel like that after the workout. I was like wtf sexist!
So I did AMRAP of 5 pullups (banded), 10 push ups and 15 squats for 15 minutes..so I don't think it was a full Cindy.
He asked me after how I felt..as I laid there in a puddle of my own sweat trying to control my quivering forearms..I said "F CINDY...SHE IS A W*ore!!!"
He started laughing and said..I told you so.

Can I just ask and this is mainly be just stirring the pot..but not everyone in that closed group is AT LEAST a year out. I understand the want for a group where you can post and share your own ideas..but if you only want to keep it to certain people..then own that..don't say it is for people at least a year out when in looking at some of the surgery dates..not all of you are a year out. I am not trying to be argumentative, I am just pointing out where people get the impression that the group doesn't really want new members.

I want to be clear, I wasn't accusing anyone of anything. My point was you are perfectly within your right to do whatever you like and create whatever group (public or private) you want. What I was pointing out was why people have the perception that they are being excluded.

maharet111 got a reaction from TES in FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
I am slowing down too and increasing the amount that I eat. But I actually am okay with increasing to about 1200 calories a day..I don't do well when I super starve myself.
But I agree my body is changing in ways that aren't reflected on the scale so I am okay with that.

I have sticky notes I put on my mirror..they say things like "You are beautiful" or "Keep up the great work" or "You can do it"
I know it sounds corny but try it My boyfriend even wrote me one..I woke up one morning to see "Your ass is magnificent" on my mirror

Awesome. That is great news. I started with PVC pipe, then moved to just a bar (45 lbs) and then started adding weight over time to improve my max 1 rep and to find my sustainable 70% max weight for sets. What I really like about cross fit is that it always gives me a chance to 1-up myself within a progression over time. For example, I started out at 125 lb deadlift several months ago and can now do 320 lb deadlift as max 2- rep. I really like the feeling and sound of dropping heavy weight at the end of a set whether the set contains 1 rep, 2 rep, 5 rep or 10 rep.
One of the best tips I can give you is go slow enough in your cross fit sessions to maintain good form. There are a kabillion things to remember when you are new, but it becomes second nature after a while like driving a car. I am still considered new as a lifter, but am starting to get good form on the heavy compound lifts. Me, a lifter? Who knew. I was so weak just back in February and no upper body strength. zero, zilch, nada. Today, I am much stronger. I can do any body weight exercise, including pull-ups, and lift a lot of weight.

I agree with you Cheri..I do sometimes get depressed when I read posts where people have lost 90 pounds in 2 months..but I am learning it is all perspective. I refuse to characterize myself as a slow loser..I am A LOSER..PERIOD. I am 5 months out and 52 pounds down..whether that makes me a slow loser at an average of 10 pounds a month, I don't really know.
After years of Yo Yo Dieting and the euphoria/depression that comes from losing/gaining weight..I prefer to surround myself with positive reinforcements instead. My weight is just a number, like my driver's license, my social security, my employee ID..it doesn't define me. I use Sticky Notes to give myself an affirmation each day..yes I know it sounds corny but it keeps those mind demons at bay..ya'll should know about those mind demons!
I look to things outside of the scale to keep me moving..like when my trainer ups my workout, or when my niece tells me my belly doesn't jiggle (got to love 4 year olds)..or when a guy on a motorcycle tries to pick me up at a red light! I guess my point is..a number is just a number..if you let it define you, you will be a slave to it. So pick other ways to define you and your new body!

maharet111 got a reaction from Banned member in Looking for anyone that has gotten a DS after their VSG
I don't usually jump onto the bandwagon when I see threads about to go wrong, but the OP isn't the only one who thinks you are cocky and arrogant. The OP asked for a specific question, she never stated she was getting a DS, she was asking for information and you lambasted her with your information that AGAIN, worked for you.
I get really annoyed when I see people like you on this site who think that sharing your so called medical expertise gives you the right to sit in judgement on other people. If this is your bedside manner, then I would be advising your patients to look for a new medical giver.
