Spend a lot of time helping out in the kitchen. When it's eating time, say you've eaten too much already while working in the kitchen.
Also you can try a half-truth... Tell them that you're on a strict medically supervised diet that only lets you drink shakes and you REALLY need to stick with it for health reasons. When they argue with you that it's not healthy and try to get you to cheat... just tell them about how your doctor said it was urgent for you to lose weight due to your fatty liver and high blood pressure or whatever and that you take what he tells you seriously because you need to look after your health.... then get all weepy and say "you don't want me to DIE do you?"

YAY! I got that peaceful feeling when I realized that I was choosing from among a whole group of fantastic and well qualified doctors so it was just a matter of finding the right "fit". Now if I could just get that peaceful easy feeling about booking my flight. I hate thinking about squeezing my size 28 ass (can we say ass on this forum?) into a 17 inch seat.. I'm actually considering taking the train to Boston to visit my sister for a few days and then flying out of there so I can take jet blue. They have an 18.25 inch seat.... and trust me, that extra 1.25 inch makes a big difference!

FYI the 8004 is the EXACT same juicer except it is white instead of silver in color.... and the 8004 costs less. It's an expensive juicer but it has a 15 year warranty so you know this thing is built to last. It's EXCELLENT on greens.... the best juice around at getting all the juicy goodness out of kale. I don't love whole kale in my smoothies so I will make a regular fruit smoothie in a nutribullet, then just add the kale juice from the Omega juicer!... or if I'm going low carb, I'll just do a kale shot with kale, lemon ginger and some stevia. Tastes not so great, but it's a great way to get the benefit from real live plant stuffs when you're dealing with a low carb, high Protein diet. Also I like to do ginger juice in it. Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory so I juice ginger and put the juice in tea. I have used my juicer at least twice a day for the past six months! It's been the perfect fit for my needs.
Edited to add... I certainly wouldn't buy this juicer for the purpose of pureeing foods, an immersion blender would do a fine job of it at a much lower cost.... BUT if you're considering a new juicer anyway, I'd definitely look into the Omega.

Yes it does matter. Walmart and GNC have many options. I got mine online from vitacost. I went with Jay Robb because I don't feel comfortable with artificial sweeteners and Jay Robb uses stevia.

SerendipityHappens got a reaction from swizzly in Do You Think You Can Loose A Lot Of Weight Without Exercising?
YES of course you can! The reverse is also true in that you can exercise a lot and not lose any weight.
Weight loss is MUCH more tied to diet than it is to exercise. Of course exercise is essential for optimal health so we all should be doing it regardless of if it helps us attain our weight goals.

My doc calls for two weeks of Protein shakes plus one lean Protein meat and a salad per dayv then three days of clear liquids.
I'm doing a high protein VLCD for three months until surgery in order to get as much weight off as I can prior to surgery.

My juicer can do puree type foods. I have w blank plate with no holes in it and I can run stuff through my juicer with the blank plate on it and it comes out in a very thick mash. Sometimes I have to run stuff through twice. I love it for "banana icecream. I just run a frozen banana through my juicer and out comes an AMAZING banana ice cream. SO much better than doing it in a blender where you have to add additional liquids.
I use the Omega 8006 juicer

Exactly.. I thought it was supposed to be a man. Teeny boobs.. I just assumed they were man boobs.
Plus size or not, we expect mannequins to be of desired proportions. Do skinny mannequins have muffin tops Like so many otherwise thin have? No. Do they have flat butts like many thin women (and some fat women too) have? No they don't. Thin Mannequins have nice proportions, even though not all thin women have those same proportions. So why are they making the fat mannequin with these horrid proportions? At leas they didn't give it a pannus!

Thanks for the prayers, sleeved yesterday, home today. everything went great. I am very sore and moving slow but tolerating liquids well. it feels different not at all hungry and you do have to sip sip sip to get close to goals. I know now why they say Proteins first cause you feel full so quickly.Proteins anf fluids in the required amounts is what gets the weight off, and keeps it coming off.

Rootman, I get that you are a decent human, but you get all your advice from Click and Clack, the tappit brothers, don't you? I get what you're saying, but this is something that fat women get almost universally and it definitely feels like a backhanded compliment.
"you have such a pretty face" = too bad the rest of you makes me want to burn my eyes out with a red-hot fire poker
My favorite one is one that you'll get from the uber-religious... "you have such a sweet spirit" = Jesus loves you even though most people can't stand to look at you and you'll never find love in this life because of your hideousness.
I've also on more than one occassion been grilled by people at the summit of mountains wanting to know how I got to the top. I had one person actually ask me if there was a road for cars to get to the summit... UM, I got to the top by hiking my big fat azz up here... It's shocking I know, because fat women are supposed to sit around in yoga pants all day watching Dr. Phil and drinking bacon grease.

Ya, it was VERY confusing... especially since Lopez, Carberea, and Garcia are all practicing in MiDoctor hosptal I've been working with Christy at MBC to have my surgery with the Cabrera/Valenzuela team. Although Lopez and MBC have parted ways over contractual issues, Christy at MBC still spoke very highly of his skill as a surgeon.
Also, my guess would be, and this is just a guess. That as a doctor grows in popularity and experience he eventually only needs one scheduling service because he has sooooo much business he does not need it coming from two or three directions.... but when the doctor isnewer, he needs multiple coordinating services to send him business. That's my take on it anyway.

SerendipityHappens reacted to iggychic in Would U Do It With Bmi Of 38?
My BMI was lower than yours and I had no comorbidities. Add to that that my family has a history of weight issues, but even at 300 no comorbidities...we live far longer than anyone wants us to
So I normally post on posts like this that I don't recommend the surgery to lower BMI people. It nearly killed me and took me from my little boy for two months. The pain and suffering was horrific. This surgery was hell for me and not something I recommend to low BMI prospects WHO DON"T HAVE COMORBIDITIES!
You have shared that your life is already somewhat a life of suffering. You can't breath well, your heart is an issue, etc. And you're just a kid Unlike me, this isn't a cosmetic issue for you, it's life and death either way.
Understand that you could have significant issues because of the surgery due to complications during the surgery or afterwards, but you could fall over with a heart attack tomorrow as well given your first post...so you have to do something! You owe it to your babies
I highly recommend you look at the risks, and prepare for them. I had to have additional child care for two months. I couldn't do anything for three months due to weight restrictions (awwww no laundry lol). Someone had to take up the slack. You want to be prepared for that, and then hopefully never need it! Also, I like to tell all mom's with young kids....write them a letter, "just in case". They don't ever need to see it, and it will be the hardest letter you write. Don't tell them that you did this for them...because they don't need that guilt (and don't we do everything for them in many ways?) but do tell them the stuff you would want to say if you aren't there when they're ten, fifteen, twenty, etc.
I bawled like a baby when I wrote that...it took me two days, but when things went seriously bad, I felt some peace knowing that it was there for him, just in case!
I wish you all the best! It sounds like this is the right move for you dear. Embrace it if it's the direction you want to go and move on with determination and courage!

SerendipityHappens reacted to Queen of Crop in Traveling Is So Much Easier As A Thin Person...
A year ago, before surgery, when I traveled I took way too many clothes. I never knew what would look right on any given day so I took too many things and consequently, my luggage (and my body!) were way too heavy. And I never felt like I looked good in anything; plus I had to take shoes that I could walk in, which were always ugly.
Fast forward a year...I had the surgery, lost 85 lbs, am at at goal...and just spent 10 days with carry on luggage and a pair of boots! All I took was two pair of pants, a few basic tops, 4 scarves (to change things around), a light jacket, a heavy jacket, one dress. And I was set for anything! We went from walking around Prague, Berlin and Frankfurt all day, to getting dressed up for concerts. I had my one year check up and tried to look as nice as I could for that and it was all very easy. When you are thin, travel just gets easier!
Oh, and the fact that I could walk everywhere, all day without my feet, knees, hips hurting was so great. Wish I would have had the opportunity to have this done years ago.
Photo of my and my husband (and one of my scarves!) at the Charles Bridge in Prague and with my doctor in Frankfurt and another all dressed up at a fancy dinner. More on my blog that I just updated today if you're interested.

    2. Not being able to take the Zumba class I wanted to because of 1.
    3. Enduring multiple stress fractures in my feet because nobody told me that 330 pound women aren't supposed to climb mountains and hike.
    4. Finally realized that just because I don't have any co-mordities like HBP, diabetes, high cholesterol, doesn't mean that I deserve to live with all this pain in my feet and legs.
