  1. Yeah, after 3 weeks I felt like the king of the world - so it's definately your infection. Look after yourself!
  2. Since he's so adverse to the internet couldn't you say - I have a friend who lives in (insert state here) and they had theirs done in one proceedure? He does sound prickly
  3. Don't be anxious - you will get results relatively quickly. Good luck on Tuesday.
  4. Thanks Dee. I think it's the opposite to subconscious, I consciously made the decision to be completely upfront about it. I think VSG is a great thing and I think it's a great thing I've done. I think others can benefit from my enthusiasm about it! I've just got a bit carried away and need to wind it back a bit Good luck with the surgery - you won't know yourself in two months
  5. Some of you probably know I'm a massive advocate for transparency of this procedure with the people in our lives, family, friends, work mates. I've noticed I've been doing something recently and I think I might change it up, just a little. In my need to be transparent I think I over disclose. When people say to me things like 'You've lost weight, you look great' after thanking them one of the first things that comes out of my mouth is that I've had WLS. I guess the reason for my post is to clarify my thoughts. I've put in a lot of work to lose this weight. It's not all about the WLS. I've been managing my diet, exercising most days. WLS is part of the story. My policy now is if I get a compliment just thank them. If they ask how I've done it tell them eating less, exercising more and WLS. Cheers, Deano
  6. Same here. When people ask what everyone's reaction has been like I say "Supportive, but I don't really care - when I tell people they're either going to support me or say something stupid". I've never once felt 'judged'. Some people have not commented, but they're entitled to their opinion. I'm proud of the fact that after decades of yoyo dieting I'm tackling this head on.
  7. Thanks. You will eat steak again. I have, but the same thing just small amounts. I'm an Aussie, so I've had my fill of plate sized rumps and T-bones with all the trimmings. 2 nights ago I grilled up a piece of beef fillet to medium rare. A 300 gram piece sliced up to feed the whole family. It went down really well.
  8. Mate, I'm 10 weeks out yesterday and 60+ pounds down. It does get easier, quite quickly. Pork loin was probably a bit ambitious at this stage. At bit early for any dense Protein. At the stage I'm at I feel like I can eat anything I want, just in really small amounts. The amount varies depending on the food. From here the amount I can eat will slowly increase.
  9. I think the irreversibility of a sleeve is one of the advantages. I know I can lose weight, keeping it off is impossible. I need this tool for life. Deano
  10. Great to hear it was all done at once. Once you're out and home, you won't know yourself in a couple of days. All the best, Deano
  11. Now! You should be doing plenty of walking, without overdoing it. No heavy lifting for 6 weeks - so no deadlifts at the gym
  12. 10 weeks post op today. Jump onto the scales, Wednesday is my official weigh day. I'm down 30 kilos. Really happy with today as a mile stone. 8 more kilos and I'll be under 100. I think the last time I was under 100 was at the Police Academy! Hope you're all well, Deano
  13. My surgeon gave me a prescription in case I needed. Post op I had it made up, just in case. I'm 10 weeks post op today and haven't needed them. They're still sitting in the cupboard. Don't sweat it.
  14. Hey Teri, Sounds like a nightmare (sorry, bad joke!) You said that people with thyroid issues shouldn't take anything with melatonin. What's the possible negative effect if you do? I guess the reason I'm asking is because at the 6 month mark you will be able to eat a lot more and get the variety in your diet that it sounds like you need for sleep. Is it possible to take one of the suggested sleeping tablets for a short time? Good luck with it, Deano
  15. I don't think so. As long as you're getting enough protein. There's some thoughts that if you keep protein level's high it helps with burning fat instead of muscle. Helps reduce hair loss as well I believe. Deano
  16. It's small group training - loads of fun
  17. Nope, didn't come through?
  18. Try Crossfit. You feel like you've been smashed after every session!
  19. Sorry MM, I missed this post. I only just saw it. I've only used their powders with no, or almost no carbs. They have some with carbs for putting on weight. For losing weight their best powder is 'Super Shred'. It comes in chocolate, mochachino and caramel nougat. I've used the chocolate and the mochachino. This is a great product with a number of carb blockers as well. When I lost 70 kgs a decade ago I used the old version of this product (called hydroxy phase) a couple of times a day for 18 months. It is a little expensive. No carbs and a hydrolysed WPI Protein, which means it has good bioavailabilty (your body uses it efficiently). 'Reload HGF' is also good. Hydrolysed WPI as well, no carbs. You pay a bit more for additives that would only be of benefit if you were weight training. Only comes in chocolate. If you didn't want to pay for 'Super Shred' (after all we're not eating that many carbs anyway) I'd go for their standard 'WPI'. Still the good quality protein I was talking about, but your not paying for all the extras (carb blockers etc). I've tried the Vanilla and Chocolate but it also comes in a Choc Banana. I'm not a fan of artificial banana flavour, so I haven't tried that one. Cheers, Deano
  20. I'm sure he's just very worried. Also there may be some guilt as well. I know for me as a father I have one of my daughters (I have 8 yo twins) who appears to have a similar relationship with food that I 'had'. I feel pretty guilty about it. If it is genetic, it's not the gift I would have liked to have given her. I don't know if you were over weight as a child, but maybe he feels like he contributed? With a BMI of about 60, this will be a fantastic thing for you. Your Dad doesn't have all the information, so really is basing his opinion on a lack of information (I was going to say ignorance, but it sounded bad!! ) All the best on Thursday, Deano
  21. That's awesome Kelli. Must be great to know you will be free of it eventually
  22. What's a CDL, Butter? What do you do for a living? Deano
