This is something that can happen to anyone of us and I hope that people see this thread and learn from it. We cannot do this alone. It's so much more than just having your stomach cut out.

    Hi Sarah,
I had all those changes the first month, I'm out almost the same time as you, but don't feel those anymore. The first month I was always irritable, emotional, was cold, and like I'm having pmS all the time. I agree the other posts, make sure you are hydrated coz that will give you headache...are you eating enough at dinner time? Maybe your sugar levels go down through the night that's why you get headaches.

33 lbs for me now since 1/29, I am losing about 1.5 to 2 lbs per week. So far I'm happy, just anxious to see what the next few months bring! I would love to feel comfortable in a pair of shorts this summer. I haven't slid these thighs into some shorts in YEARS! lol

    Hi Laura-Ven,
Great job avoiding the food, and on keeping your temper... It could probably be worse lol! And I agree with you!!! The temptation is so real, and it is constant--I mean all the time for me. .it is hard try and eat healthy, especially avoiding pitfalls (like snacking junk food), eating lunch with colleagues bec that's when I get so tempted so I alienate myself Worst part for me, no weight loss! Keep up the good work and hopefully you guys will kiss & make up tonight ;D

Don't get too hung up on the scale. I know it's "weight loss surgery" but why is it we want to lose weight, really? Some of the common reasons:
    1. To be more healthy
    2. To be more active
    3. To look better
So, is it really about the weight? Not so much as we sometimes think. It's about the balance of body fat and muscle in our body, combined with the nutrition and exercise we're providing to our bodies to keep it healthy, in my opinion.
Therefore, if the scale isn't moving, but the inches are, I think everything is golden, and here are some reasons why:
    1. Healthy: building more muscle improves your strength, endurance and metabolic rate, while dropping a much more important number - body fat %
    2. Active: If you're dropping the inches and gaining muscle, activity becomes easier, and the more you do, the easier it becomes.
    3. Looking better: Well, we KNOW that if your body is reshaping, losing inches, becoming better toned that we're most likely looking better, fitter, healthier.
I'm not saying that the scale isn't important at all - of COURSE we want to get weight off, it's easier on our joints, among other things. What I am saying is notice and give appropriate applause to the progress you're making. Eventually those pounds will start moving again because these other things are happening.
Now, that said, I think that you might find it worth trying bumping your calories upward as Imabeskinny said - more Protein, and if you aren't doing much in the way of carbs, maybe introduce some complex carbs back into your diet. I'd also suggest tracking your diet pretty closely for a couple of weeks just to make sure you get dialled in, even if you don't track all the time normally.
I have to applaud you for being able to get so much exercise in, and those Insanity routines are intense! Based on conversations with my trainer a couple of years ago, though, you might want to change up your exercise routine now and again to shake things up, too - it seems like you focus primarily on cardio. You might find it useful to do a little bit more strength training - get some resistance bands and learn a few exercises to use those effectively for working the major muscle groups. This will help give you longer lasting metabolism boosts. My trainer had told me that if your body gets too used to a certain set of activities, it tends to get more efficient at them. To get things moving again, you have to throw in new challenges periodically

It could just be that you are adding muscle to your body. Or have you tried a different scale? (What if your scale is broken?) Way back in time, I was hitting the gym really hard. I dropped several sizes in clothes but hadn't weighed myself. When I finally DID hop on the scale, it showed that I had only "lost" 10 pounds of fat.
You are obviously losing fat as your body is shrinking!! I'm thinking that you are just gaining muscle from all of the hard work that you are doing at the gym.

I am having the same problem and doing about the same as you. This week I am increasing my calories to 1000-1200 and drinking 70oz+ of Water. Hoping it helps (worked last time!)

Your work outs sound intense and amazing. It seems like it's possible that you're building muscle at the same time that you're losing. Or, and I'm a newbie, so please defer to the opinions of more experienced VSGers and your surgeon/nutritionist, but with work outs that intense, I wonder if you need to up your calorie intake. It could be a combination of those things.

Hi i agree with you that it can be hard when I see a lot of people losing very fast in a short time...and it can be frustrating, and I have to remind myself that I need to Celebrate my own weight loss even if it is slow. Surgery date 1/16 and lost 28 pounds, but I will never lose that on my own without surgery so I am very very thankful. I have never felt this young, inches are gone, dropped down 2xl to large. And can move so much better, no more foot pain... So it's more than numbers for me, but yes, I still weigh myself a lot, and wish te scale would move faster. But am also realistic bec I don't want to lose my joy by comparing with others. with 200 pounds/low Bmi, md said my average weight loss goal is about 10pounds/month, and I hope I can keep that.

I will be 3 weeks post op on wed...and ill see my doctor on tuesday. I think ive only lost 10 lbs, but lost 8 lbs. before surgery. Ive definately lost inches because my clothes are hanging off me. Im ok with that. Ive imbedded in my skull that im ok with the "number", as long as im losing inches, and feel good. Dont drive urself crazy with the number...it will come off! I was reading about all of these dramatic weight loss stories, and as bad as i want it to come off...its not gonna happen overnight! Go easy on urself!

I am almost 6 months out and 45 lbs down almost half way to goal but is has been a fight. Celebrate your accomplishments! If I compared myself to people on the forum I would be ready to jump off the nearest bridge. Since I am a slow loser exercise is essential for me. In the long run my body will be more conditioned and stronger for it. For that I am thankful because if it wasn't for the slow losses I may just give up exercise all together! You are doing fabulous!!!! Congratulations!
