mommy1990 got a reaction from KeeWee in Dx With Pcos, Have Been Trying For 15 Years After My First Born. Anyone With Infertility Issues Become Pregnant After Surgery? Details Please
My niece had bypass in april this year and had pcos. After 15 years of not getting pregnant she is now about 8 weeks pregnant! I found out a day before her that I'm pregnant too at 6 months post-op from the sleeve. I'm 42 and had been trying since my last daughter was born in 2011.

Why can't you get someone to take care of your mom for at least two weeks, at your home. My suggestion is to take care of your health now..so that u can continue to take of your mom before her condition deteriorates further. Ask friends, family, or even hire an RN to help out. Best of luck to you on your new journey.

Just a personal opinion. I wouldn't do the depo shot. I had it before I got the sleeve, its poison. I would do just birth control pills, the implant, or the ring. I gained 60 lbs in 9 months on it, had Migraines everyday, bleed for 9 months straight. Ended up anemic and never felt right after I got off of it until I got the sleeve and lost my weight. Just do your research most everyone I know had a bad experience including myself. But ultimately the choice is yours.

Ah, so all you "smokers" didn't have the VSG to get healthy, you just wanted to look better? I'm not self righteous (or "riotous" :-) by a lonnnng shot but hey, even if you just want to look better do you understand that smoking ages your skin and makes you smell bad to most of the rest of the population?
Yep, you're right, it is your choice. Write a note to your future self about all the reasons you are still smoking so when you're suffering with cancer or emphezema or are just plain old looking at 40 you can justify your choice.

If one is an adult planning on "doing as they please" they need not ask questions they don't want the answers to, hmm? The OP asked a question and got logical answers from those with experience. If you're tired of smoking lectures, it's easier to ignore them than deter the conversation.

Nicotine stays in the system up to 3 months. I had a friend who works in a med lab that told me that. Most surgeons will do a pre op nicotine blood test and if it's positive, no surgery. Big risk with anesthesia and a red flag as far as self discipline goes. You can do it. I stopped no problem. And the risk of smoking after surgery is ulcers. There's not much to do with a 4oz stomach thy has a bleeding septic hole in it :/

Please, consider your question carefully. I know the addiction is strong (I smoked for over 30 yrs) but you had 85% of your stomach removed so that you could live a long, happy, healthy, and more active life and now you want to start smoking again?
The reason they have you stop smoking is because it interferes with your healing. You won't be totally healed from the operation for another month.
After the 3rd day you no longer have a physical addiction to the nicotine. It is ALL in your head. Love yourself enough to not start smoking again. And yes, it is hard. I haven't smoked since 2005 and I still want one every once in awhile.
    Hang in there *HUG*

My surgeon wants you to have an ultrasound of the liver and gallbladder prior to surgery. I'm used to laying on the table and saying, "there's the heartbeat" or "is that a foot?" while getting an ultrasound- I wasn't expecting that! LOL!

mommy1990 reacted to Sleevealicious in Leak?
Hey there! I had leak as well. Same situations as you. Two stents, etc . Definitely had some emotional damage , not to mention physical. Stents are hell. Plain and simple. TPN, PICC Lines, all the drains, chest tubes, NG tubes are miserable. Anti nausea meds don't even work that well unless through an IV. And yes , blurry bison , Constipation , not being able to read anything up close sucks. ( nothing helped me unless it was through an IV, the only thing that could even touch my pain were large doses of dilaudid from IV, the pills did not do much) being on liquids only for months sucks. The whole situation is terrible and feels like it will never end. But I promise you It WILL! I know what you are going through, and I totally feel for you. but you got the stents out, it's all uphill from here . The liquid diet will end . Eventually you'll be able to eat real food. And it will all just be a memory . Focus on the good , I know it's hard. try to feel grateful that you lived! People do die from this. I know how emotional it's makes you , I'm six months out and am still struggling, but I try to hang on to the fact that I am lucky to be alive. I have gone on Wellbutrin , which has somewhat helped. I still break down and cry about sometimes though, just definitely less frequent. I am totally here for you! If you want to private message me i would be more than happy to talk with you and provide as much support as I can. I will say this, I am down almost 100 lbs and am 3 lbs from goal in six months, so you have lots of weight loss to look forward to! I have gained almost all my strength back now and can eat anything I want, just small portions. please feel free to message me! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I think the poll would have the most value if you knew how long people had been sleeved and what amount of weight has been gained in each of those time frames. Also, maybe incorporate age and gender and eliminate those who have been sleeved less than a certain length of time (6 months or maybe a year).
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think of other ways to modify the poll, so never mind. LOL

Yay!!!! First of all I would like to say, I know the medical people prefers that patients wait a certain amount till they get pregnant but truth is I just don't really care. If it can happen that's all that matters because I believed in some point in my life that I would never be able to conceive a child. But guess what I did and I am happy. It definitely was not planned but it is a amazing blessing. My husband is super excited and that's all that matter
For you ladies out there who just recently got pregnant and is still in their first trimester, how is it going so far for you guys? What were your symptoms?
