This is exactly how I hope to be. I have never been good at keeping track of anything. I get discouraged on this board sometimes because it seems like everyone is so strict with tracking and never eating any carbs. This makes me feel like there will be some hope for me. Thanks!

    I won't miss......

*My pants having holes in the thighs due to them rubbing together.

*That wonderful musical that my thighs like to play when I am wearing certain pants ( I work in a quiet office environment so it's embarrassing).

*My lack of a sex drive

*Never scheduling vacations at the beach, because the thought of my thighs exposed makes me cringe.

LovetoDeath reacted to lilac lass in How to track fluid, containers for, too much fluid at once a problem?
    HI,

I was a huge Fluid drinker before surgery because of dry mouth issues. Right after surgery (12-6), it was a struggle to get liquids down and I was miserable. But after a few days, I got the hang of it. Now I am sipping away.

But I need a better system to keep track of my fluids. Currently I have a measuring cup and I pour it into a glass and sip from that. My NUT told me that one way to keep from gulping fluids was to have a container with a large mouth. She said that the larger the mouth, the less likely you were to gulp and get air in your stomach.

I have lots of sports bottles and some even have an opening about the size of a nickel instead of the pivot straw type. But what do you drink out of to keep track of what you taking in and to sip and not gulp, chug your fluid. Also is it an issue to take in too much fluid at one time ( not with a meal)? I had a hernia repair with my surgery. I didn't even know I had it and I don't want to get another one. I asked how to avoid that and they said not to overeat but does that go with drinking too much at once?

To the OP, and others in a similar situation, I do not feel that because you cheated at three weeks out, or were so badly craving a piece of real food that you took a small bite, chewed it up for the flavor and then spit it out qualifies you as having a full blown "eating disorder" that requires you to immediately seek help from a therapist. We are all weak, we didn't become obese by having a strong willpower to resist the temptations of food, we became that way because we don't. We tried diets, but they weren't successful, hence, we turned to the sleeve. Whilst they are able to sleeve our stomachs, they are not able to sleeve our brains. And no matter how much we prepare, psych ourselves up, get counseling beforehand, etc., the bottom line is those old demons do not just disappear overnight. And lets be honest, I don't care who you are, between the pre-op and post-op diets, we go a very, very long time on liquids and mushies only. Kudos to all of you who decide to undertake that. No matter how much you prepare for that, until you are actually doing it, you have no idea just how difficult of an undertaking that is. If you are able to make it through the entire process without cheating, I commend you. If you aren't, it doesn't mean you have failed, it doesn't mean you didn't research, it doesn't mean you weren't prepared or ready for this surgery, it just means you are human and you caved. Own up to it, understand you made a mistake, tell your doctor and get right back on track.
Understand, I am not saying you didn't or won't put yourself at risk, but I am sure each of you already knew that, or you wouldn't be "confessing" it here. But believe me, you weren't the first or the last to cheat. What is important is that hopefully you are okay, understand what you did, and immediately get back on track and do your absolute best to make sure you don't do it again. This is a tough, tough journey to take, lets all be supportive in an honest, caring and respectful manner of one another.

Hahah I'm not sensative in the least. I want to encourage and support people not scold them and make them feel shameful. That is why I am on this forum.
But if you think scolding and belittling is effective then by all means go ahead. You are right, this is a public forum.

Although I would not condone cheating I do understand that we are Human. As humans we are prone to mistakes. These mistakes can be learning experiences. If you took a bite, that's fine just make sure you think it through next time.

I don't like this attitude that some people have about making people feel horrible about their decisions. Don't you remember how it felt to have someone skinny say "you are killing yourself, just stop eating and exercise". Skinny people can not possibly understand why we would ever risk being overweight because obesity related conditions kill people everyday. We all have to find out for ourselves. We all have to take the steps to a better path. Sometimes you stray but hey as long as you learn from it, it's ok.

It also Irks me when people say "I can't believe you would........................."

Well you are not me and there are probably a ton of things I can't believe you would do either.

LovetoDeath got a reaction from kmwheel in Felt a little out of place at pre-op class, smallest person there
I felt the same way when I went to my class. I was at a 37 now at 40.3 ( i gained 9 pounds to have the surgery, but thats another story). I kept asking myself if this is the best choice for me. But then I thought back to all the times I have tried and failed. I also thought that I want to stop this before I get to that point.
But it is a personal decision.
