I use a scale to weight allot of my foods by grams or ounces. lunch half a white tortilla with 1 boiled egg 1 tsp mayonaise mustard dinner 3 ounces shrimp chopped fried with 1 tsp olive oil 1/4 cup marinera sauce and 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese. I try to get in 64 ounces of Water a day, 60-70 grams of Protein daily , Vitamins , 800 max calories daily. Sometimes I indulge in pringles or dark chocolate but it is a once a month thing and I remain in the 800 zone. I just started going to the gym 2 times a week exercising for an hour. Hope this helps Good luck with your weightloss and remember each body is different. It dosnt matter how long it takes whats important is that you get there STAY STRONG dont give up

  12. Today is the day I hit 188 on the scale I have lost 100 pounds I really cant believe I was ever that big. And I still get shocked at my own reflection:) Love my sleeve
  13. Start a new fresh slate go on a ten day full liquid diet then start back on the basics! You need to get 70-80 grams of protein in daily and remain at 800 calories max per day!.In order to do that you must eat protein rich foods first at each meal. The protein should be 75% of your meal. Measure and weight what you it. 4 ounces at each meal only. If you follow these main rules you will definently loose weight. You also need to drink 64 ounces of water a day. Take your multi vitamin and calcium/vit-d daily. Keep your carbs around 40 grams a day. Use myfitnesspal.com to keep your self accountable. You should also exercise 5 days a week for 30-45 minutes. Everyone falls off the wagon the key to success is to get up dust your self off and try again! I tried to quite smoking for 3 years. I would stop then smoke then quite then smoke. finally quite and it stuck! Each time you go threw failing at something you learn and change in a certain way. Give up for a while but go right back to it when your ready. You can do this. The sleeve is a tool. If you use it the way it is meant to be used you will have amazing results. The way you use the sleeve will become your new way of life. By repeatedly following the rules it will eventually become a habit and will be like second nature to you. good luck and never give up
  14. I have noticed on multiple occasions that before I get the urge to go #2 I feel shortness of breath unstable like something's wrong with me then I get the urge to go? I never had this pre -op but have noticed it now at 6 months out. Weird. Once I get the urge it all goes away.
  15. If it last more than 24 hours I would call your doc you don't want to dehydrate. Hope you feel better
  16. I have lost 9 pounds this month and lost 3.5 inches off my body. Weightloss has definitely slowed down. I still have 39 pounds to loose .
  17. Weigh your self once a week only! on the other days have someone hide it! As for bowel movements. It can mess with what the scale says by up to 5 pounds that's my experience. Don't fret theres only one way for the scale to go and thats down be patient and as the other person posted give your body time to catch up Good luck
  18. When I get hungry its usually a sign of thirst or heartburn. I try drinking 17 ounces bottle of water if im still hungry after that I take tums or zantac. My hunger signal post op has become feeling tierd or weak that how I remember to eat? weird?
  19. Mine got chunky as the weight came on.Now after 98 pound loss it has gotten loose and a teeny saggy. I plan on getting a tummy tuck and the FUPA fat upper pubic area AKA the upper vajayjay will be pulled up and tightened in the process. If it is still chunky after all the weight-loss they can also liposuction the fat out! yikes! But I will be out when any of this happens.
  20. I decided to post this so we can all remember the basic rules to succeed with vsg. I have noticed my weightloss has slowed down allot mostly due to eating too many carbs. Im in the calorie range my doc wants to be in but my carbs are high. according to his book if you stall or plateau its either 3 things:too much carbs, not enough exercise, or your building muscle. For me i think its the first 2. Here we go! 1. I will exercise 5 times a week for 30-45 minutes. 2.I will watch my carbohydrate intake 3.I will try to eat 3-5 meals per day with no unhealthy snacking in between 4.I will drink 8 glasses of Water per day 5.I will eat a minimum of 60-70 grams of Protein daily 6.I will honor my commitment to good health and healthy choices 7.I will have follow up care appointments with my doc as needed 8.I will always take my Vitamins 9.I will weight my self once a week 10.I will remember that this is my own journey and not compare my self to others 11.I will always keep in mind that practicing my new habits will make me healthier happier stronger and more energetic. This is what I turn to when I fall off the wagon sort of speak. I need to drink more water, eat more protein, exercise more, and drink more water. Gotta keep my head in the game. Thanks to my Dr.Alvarez for his awesome book about vsg. Hope this helps others
  21. Ive read allot about hair loss and supplements dont seem to make a difference for most. I did find a post about loreal shampoo for falling hair used it and noticed a difference. I also started taking b complex vitamins ( all the b vitamins) My doc suggested it for the hair loss. It usually happens around 3 months post op good luck and try to keep up with protein best you can.
  22. Allot of women on here including my self had a long period after surgery (10 days). Its from the hormone changes in the body. As for the bloating could very well be premenstrual. My periods have become more pronounced post op. Bloating weightgain mood swings a week before I get my period. Good luck
  23. When I first started exercising I stopped losing weight and gained a little. I think it could be water retention for the muscles to heal. I'm now loosing less since I started exercising but Im getting a firmer sculpted body. If weightloss is your only goal now stick to cardio exercises. you will drop the weight fastet doing these types of exercises. If you dont a combination of both is the best way to do it. I was losing around 2.75 pounds per week now its 1.75. I still have 42 pounds to loose and dont want it to take forever im contemplating going to cardio only exercises but muscle burns more than fat! I guess it all comes down to how long you want the weightloss to take.
  24. I am self paid and needed blood work done post op and once went to the ER for dehydration. My insurance covered it but I paid the co pay. I have straight medicaid in michigan. there is a potential of getting a leak or embolism post op. These are the most feared issues post op. Depending on your doc the percent of them happening is pretty low. Follow your doctors rules. at around a month post -op if your taking medications they will need to be adjusted according to your new weight and lifestyle, so youll need a doctors visit for that and blood work done anually to make sure your getting your vitamins in. Good luck I love my sleeve
