I figured it out I think...

Here it is - before was May 2012, after is March 2013. From 255lbs to 124lbs at 5'6".

My husband laughs at me all the time now because I have always been so "hot natured" griping if anyone said they were cold.... Now I wear fleece pajamas and socks around the house complaining abou how cold it is and I have to crawl in to a warm bed with my electric blanket (which I never would have tolerated before)! He thinks it is hilarious and now I regret all those mean things I said about people freezing and how they could put on more clothes if they just would. Sometimes, I can't get enough layers to stay warm! It is rather funny!

I've been afraid to try for fear of them just fitting loose but was pleasantly surprised! 5 months, 82 lbs total!

I had a appointment with my primary Dr. Today. She looked at me and said..... Do you realize you have just about lost 100 lbs already...... I still can not wrap my brain around this..... I could not be more happy.... Has anyone else had this experience..... Having a hard time wrapping your brain around something?

I know what you mean. I was thin for 5 minutes in the 80s. Barely remember it! Now I alternate between dreaming of reaching goal and staying there, and being incredulous that it could actually happen. And, when I'm at work and in a meeting that's boring, it's what I daydream about. I'd say you have company

You ARE worth it!! I AM worth it!! We ALL are worth it!! Put on those size 8 pants and strut your stuff!!! We have worked hard to be at this point enjoy it and relish what you have accomplished.

Interesting, Changing B4YourEyes. I have felt strange shopping in "normal" areas myself. I have awoke feeling my ribs and wondering what happened to my body.
Sometimes people who lose limbs still feel the limbs. It is called phantom pain.
I am wondering if we who have lost part of our stomach don't still perceive it being there in some way.
But more than that, emotionally attachment to the fat image that was a big part of our lives for so long could be still haunting us. We need to detach it from our identity and accept that reality has us skinny now. We never cry when we throw our cut off hair in the trash. Why do we mourn for fat or hang on to how it made us feel? I think humans need time to adjust to just about everything that occurs to them.
My mother never could fully adjust to the fact that I was an adult. I was still that helpless kid to her, she was amazed when I could function on my own. Now I have a wife to amaze.

The entire time I was off from work after me procedure all I did was watch food network, cooking channel, and man vs food

Oh I wish I had looked into this, I just got a 'look' from an older woman at my belly when I was on my way to the hot tub yesterday after my workout. I don't care what others think, it's a war wound as far as I'm concerned, a wound from my personal battle with weight. I'm just so happy to be in a bikini now I'm not covering up this little bod for anything. But had I known, I would have asked Dr Quinones (my Tijuana surgeon-he teaches many of the other docs over there) about the belly button incision. Good luck with your surgery, you're wise to be asking for this, hopefully they don't ask too much extra for it.

You can't take anything?
I'm on tramadol an it helps a ton. I'm 2.5 weeks out

i did develope blood clots after my procedure - i have none of the risk factors listed by gman. i was released from the hospital on sunday 12/31/12 and i was back in the hospital on 01/06/13 because i got dehydrated. what i thought was a simple routine turned in to a 6 day stay in the hospital. i am so thankful they ran test on me to be sure i didnt have a leak, thats when they noticed i had a very VERY large group of blood clots around my liver, splen, and in that area.
i thank God everyday that things turned out the way it did for me - - i had no symptoms (or so i thought) i thought i was just feeling pain because of the procedure. my breathing was a little shallow at times, i would get winded when walking around, and i felt pain directly under my rib cage. i did have a very strange bowl movement that should have triggered my to call my doc sooner - but i figured it was all apart of the healing process.
while in the hospital directly after my surgery i had the cuffs on my legs, i was given a blood thinner shot every 8 hours, and they had me walking every hour. as of today my team of docs still not sure how i developed the clots. they figured it has to due with my rheumatoid arthritis and some type of lupus factor they found. so now i am on blood thinners, 1 shot a day till they switch me over to the pill warfarin (Coumadin) next month - plus i had to re-evaluate my RA meds to be sure the are compatable with my blood thinner meds

sorrry about the rambling..... its been an interesting time in my life since my surgery date 12/28/12 - buy the grace of God i am still here

Finally hit 50 pounds today. So happy and living my sleeve.

Yesterday was my 6 month Surgiversary and I am so thankful! I began this journey April 2012 and had my surgery on September 14, 2012. I began at 225, I'm 5'3 and was praying this surgery was the answer!
What I have learned is that the surgery is the tool, but I am the answer. I definintely could not have done it without the sleeve because I really feel like it gives me the power to stay with the good habits I have been establishing and helps keep me on track.
I have also learned that it is still important for me to track everything I put in my mounth on myfitnesspal, and as long as I focus on Protein first, then veggies or fruit and drink drink drink I will be a success.
Have I realized it is ok if I have a bite of dessert everyone is sharing, absolutely! But, whereas now I can just eat one bite and that is all!
I also know that I never realized how powerful or brains can be in terms of what it tells me psychologically and what has been ingrained in my habits that I never even realized. It takes a while for my brain to see me now like I am instead of 5 sizes ago. I'm also amazed at how sometimes I will feel like I have eaten too much or eaten all day long and then I check myfitnesspal and I'm at 700 calories! So, I now know that the brain can be a tricky sucker with weight loss.
I have also learned patience! If the scale doesn't move for a few days or weeks, at first I would try all the things we read to get it to move, I now realize that is the time my body is trying to catch up and adjust and I usually lose a size in those periods. I also think that is the time my skin seems to tighten up!
Today, 6 months out, I have lost 60lbs exactly, lost 5 sizes from a 18/20 to 12's and 10's. And I have lost over 50 inches overall! I still have about 25 lbs more to lose, but I am so happy at my progress and I know if I just keep on keeping on, I'll get there.
I truly believe VSG is the best thing I have ever done for myself!

Hey Y'all it's been a while but things are going wonderful. Been hitting the gym 5 days a week and Zumba two days a week. My progress is slow but heck Ill take it. Tomorrow is my 3 month mark and I've lost 45 lbs went from size 22/24 XXL to a size 12/14 L.

I have a funny success story. Know the maxi dress night gowns at lane bryant? Well, I bought several of them last year because they are so comfortable around the house. Since losing weight, 61 pounds since surgery on Dec 3, they keep geeting longer and longer. My pants are getting longer because my booty is getting smaller. It's just cool to notice the little things like that. It speaks volumes in each individuals success along the way. Perhaps I should consider getting some new night gowns that aren't a tripping hazard, lol!
