  1. I totally agree with the Crystal Light. You have to sip on water all of the time and it is nice to have some flavor. Also, packing very light is a must. I packed one bag that fit under the seat in the plane and I was so glad that I did. I wouldn't have been very comfortable putting something in the overhead bins. Plus, you have a 10 pound limit for lifting after the surgery. I do also recommend the Unjury chicken protein powder in the single serving packs. It tastes much better than the chicken broth in Mexico and it is nice to taste something savory.

    Year long stall

I am so glad that I had the sleeve revision! I now know what restriction really feels like. It isn't fun but I have lost 18 pounds in 23 days. Not bad! There are so many foods that I can't eat, which is for the best. Also, best of all, I am truly not hungry . I am very optimistic that this time I will be successful in dropping at least 50 pounds more to get to my target weight. Then hopefully I'll maintain forever. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Almanza because of the sketchy medical practices but I do have to say that this sleeve is done well.

    Year long stall

Well, I did it. I got the sleeve revision. I am really hopeful that this does the trick. I am fairly certain that this doctor was more aggressive than my first surgon. I saw the post surgery x-rays yesterday and there doesn't appear to be any stomach left. No pouch at all that I can see. Yet I feel pretty good considering. I remember seeing the x-rays from my 1st surgery and there was definitely a pouch remaining. Maybe I just needed a microscopic "pouch". For those of you who were wondering, I did feel that my first sleeve was not done as "aggressively" as I needed and that the surgeon was very conservative in the amount of stomach he removed. I could never get the Dr. to admit to this though. He just said that I needed to work harder. I wasn't eating much (less than 900 calories a day) and I still wasn't losing. I exercised as much as I could, but putting myself first as a teacher and mother of 4 is very hard. Anyhow, here's hoping that my 2nd surgery has significant results. Time will tell...
  4. I have been on a 12 month stall journey. I have tried 3 different nutritionalists and many exercise and food trackers. The doctors have tried many tests with no answers. I actually regained weight! Frustrating. I was a self pay in 2012 and paid 25k for the surgery and never lost more than 30 pounds total, I needed to lose 60-70 lbs. Now I'm going to Mexico for a resleeve surgery. Does anyone have any experience with being resleeved, dr. Almanza or the hospital HMN?

    No loss in 1 yr

Hi Pia, I'm the one that started this thread. I totally get where your coming from. It is frustrating. I have had some success with logging my food on an app called Calorie Count. It keeps track of all kinds of things including the amount of protein I eat every day. Protein is key. Even with protein shakes if you don't get enough protein you won't lose. You can also print 30 days of your food log for your dr. or nutritionist to take a look at to see if they have any ideas on tweaks that can be made to help you see more success .
  6. After losing 25 lbs in the first 2 months, (Oct.- Nov. 2012) I haven't lost a single pound since. I'm frustrated and my surgeon can't explain it. I recovered too easily and have no food restrictions or side effects from the surgery. Miami Valley did the surgery but I have seen a nutritionist at Kettering med center. MVH insists on my eating solid foods while Kettering says that if that isn't working, go back to protein shakes. I'm stuck at 180. Any ideas ?

Dr. Siddiqui is very straight forward and professional. No small talk or reassurance like my primary care dr. He is a very good surgeon.
  8. Thank you! I'm happy with the loss but I don't want to disappoint my dr. What is a French?

I live in Beavercreek and I had my sleeve done by Dr. Siddiqui at MVH in October. He is very professional though not a lot of TLC. He did a very good job and the folks at MVH were fantastic. I have no regrets and have had a quick, uneventful recovery. I have my 6 week post-op appointment on this Tuesday.

  11. I was sleeved October 8th 2012 and I started out that day weighting 198. Today it has almost been 6 weeks. I have my 6 week post op appt. on Tuesday. I am worried that my dr. will be upset that I have only lost 17 pounds. I am down to 181. I am truly hungry (not in my head). Though I stick to my diet. I have a protein shake for breakfast, 1/2 cup of cream of mushroom soup for lunch, a string cheese for a snack and I try to eat a small amount of what my family is eating for dinner. Sometimes I can't eat that so I have another protein shake instead. I am not drinking enough water though I am trying. I am very busy as an elementary school teacher. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?

    I Ate Solid Food!

You are right. Thanks for the advice.
  13. I ate a piece of ham last night and now I am in a panic about what the consequences may be. I just had my sleeve surgery on Monday and yesterday was Friday so it was day 5. I'm supposed to be only eating full liquids but I had a moment of weakness. Will this cause a leak??? I feel fine and it has been 17 hours since my slip up. Should I be concerned? Does anyone have any experience with this? I also need to find a way to avoid evening cravings.
