Blessedfun reacted to lazerider in African American Sleevers
Hello
My SD was. 8-19-13, coming up on almost 2 months I can finally say I am GREAT. After 2 additional hospital visits, unable to keep any food or liquids down, at the end of September I realized that eating my first meal and keeping it down was a celebration for me. My weight for surgery was 240 as if today I am down 40 this was my first goal of 200 lbs. this is something to Celebrate. I set up 2 goals the first 40 lbs and my next goal is loss between 30 & 40 lbs. this weight loss journey was hard at times , but this bright light is getting closer. My BP is not controlled with meds, by border line High Sugar is gone my knees don't hurt when I walk or climb stairs. My clothes are fitting normal again. Went down 3-4 dress sizes and my jeans are down to 14 from size 18 women ( size 20) we cheat when we shop. Looking forward to getting back to work 2 months out was great, but my mind is losing itself.
Till later
Thank you for all the support

I know how y'all are feeling. I am 4 months out but the weight is dropping off! I am over 75 down and 20 from goal. My husband and family says I should stop this weight loss already. They are approaching me continuously that they are concerned and I should stop it now. I am feeling healthier than I have felt in many years. I understand that the weight went quicker than I could have ever imagined. But I did not lose weight because of others. This was about me and my health. When I am approaching goal I will look into slowing or stopping and maintaining. I am just going to remind them - this is about ME!

Blessedfun reacted to misediva in my life is miserable since the sleeve
I had the same issue with constant nausea and smells would make me more nauseated. I just got out of the hospital today was there for 5 days. It was a Vitamin deficiency and extreme dehydration. Go straight to the ER if you wait to long it will only get worse.

Blessedfun reacted to makingadjustments in Today is my Sleeve Day
Good morning support family, today I will be sleeved I am leaving my house at 6am heading to the surgery center. I can't sleep I have a wave of emotions going through me. I am going to say a prayer knowing in my heart that everything is going to be ok. I will later be posting that I am post-op I can hardly wait. I have been struggling for a long time with my weight and today I am excited about my future and healthy living. Please send prayers up for me and all of the others that will be sleeved today. I pray that all that will be sleeved today have a safe and speedy recovery. This is the best Birthday gift ever as I will be turning 34 on Friday. This year I will be celebrating my birthday with broth and a floating candle and next year I will be much smaller hopefully in Vegas baby in a single digit outfit (Yay me in advance). I will keep you all updated

You are the only one who knows what will be best for your body and your life. I have friends who had the sleeve or RNY. After three to five years they gained a little weight (5-15 lbs.) and they feel like this is ultimately where they belong. My doctor has set my goal at 140 after I'm sleeved in two weeks. I'm going for it!

Blessedfun reacted to diana89131 in They had me a surprised intervention.
Most of my friends and family members know about my surgery and two of my close coworkers. One of my coworkers who didn't know about my sleeve has witness me eat and throw up right after a numerous of times. I am down 60 pounds so its noticeable that I am losing weight. Well she told some of my bosses and they were all concerned and called me in to a meeting to address my eating issues lol. They said that I don't eat much and then throw up right after, they gave me treatment options and information. The 2 people who knew about the surgery were laughing, they didn't say anything because it wasn't there news to tell. I had to tell them about my surgery. Guess the cats out of the bag. Their faces were priceless.
There hearts were in the right place.

Blessedfun reacted to carstanger in Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under
I haven't posted in awhile on this forum. I am 5 ft 2 inches and I was sleeved Nov. 12, 2012. My highest weight before surgery was 225.5. I'm proud to say that I am now 139.4 and the goal weight the doctor set was 130. I'm 66 years old now, have walked two 5 ks. First time ever! I had total knee replacement 2 years ago so can't run the races but finished the last one in an hour. (Color Run) The weight loss has been steady, but I hang around at a weight for a couple of weeks and then will drop about 1/2 pound. I started out 2x or 22/24 and just bought size 12 pants, and size 14 jeans. I was lucky and never had stretch marks with all the weight I gained and my two pregnancies. I have flab but it is not as bad as I thought it would be and others don't notice it in my clothes. My husband of 43 years says I look so much better!! I am waiting to hear from the doctor if I can stay off my bi-pap which I've had for about 9 years, and am off all anti inflammatory, high blood pressure, and cholesterol meds. Still need a few meds and the Bariatric Fusion Vitamins. My sister and brother don't acknowledge what I have done, but my friends and other family members do. You can do this for yourself only!

Blessedfun reacted to Globetrotter in Autoimmune Issues and VSG?
Has anyone here with an autoimmune disorder looked toward diet to ease symptoms? Cutting edge discoveries (seriously like in just the last few months) are starting to link GI issues + autoimmune + neurological disorders. Something never paid attention to before is something called "Leaky Gut Syndrome", wherein Proteins leak into the blood stream, and the body attacks them, creating autoimmune issues. I am about to start on something called GI Protect, if anyone else has been on it or something similar, please pm me.
