Confused with weight loss documentation!
I had a 3 month requirement and my first visit was my consultation so to speak then a month later counted as 1 month, a month later was 2 months, a month later was 3 months. So 4 visits for the 3 month medically supervised diet. It doesnt necessarily have to be 30 between the appointments. My doctors office told me it just had to be the following month. My shortest "month" was 2 1/2 weeks so that helped speed it up a little bit. Hope that helps.

Isopure
I found it to be a horrible evil drink, hated one sip after another. With so many other options on the market, I showed this one the door!

What foods do you no longer like?
The only taste change for me was that I dont care for sweet things any more. They tend to be TOO sweet now. Other than that, I still enjoy the taste of all the other foods.

Grocery shopping is no fun anymore!
I actually love grocery shopping still. The only thing that has changed is that our grocery bill is cut in half. We dont keep junk in the house anymore. Even though my hubby didnt have surgery, he eats healthier now and is way more active. So the money we save on sugar, junk and pop we save for vacations and new clothes for me lol.

Question for those that have BCBS federal
Thats how it worked for me as well. I had my initial visit then 30 days later was my 1 month visit, 30 days later 2 month visit, 30 days later 3 month visit and they informed my surgeon that I fulfilled the requirement. In total 4 visits. The visits didnt even have to be 30 days apart, just in the following month. I had a period of time between 1 of the appointments of only 2.5 weeks so that helped speed me up a little. But in the 3 months I was doing the medically supervised diet I took care of the requirements (pulmonologist, psych eval, blood work, ekg, etc.) so once the three months was up I could be submitted as soon as possible. Ive been told and have read that BCBS Federal is your cadillac of insurances, Once submitted I was approved in about a week and a half I think. Others have been approved within a week. Scheduled for surgery the next month.

Will I ever sleepnon my stomach again?
Nope never again. So sorry. Just kidding, I found it helped to have a firm pillow along side of me to roll onto. That way all your weight isnt being weighed down by gravity, the pillow helps support you. It does get better, I promise.

1 year today!
I have similar states, 222 at day of surgery, Im 5'4 and have lost 87 pounds bringing me to my current weight of 155. Sometimes I feel pretty comfy at this weight but I know I should lose another 20 (per my surgeon) so seeing your success is a good motivator for me. Thanks. p.s. You are cute as a button too Great job, congrats.

Sharper sense of smell
Its so funny that you say you can smell who drinks at lunch because I thought I was the only one smelled people like that lol. My sense of smell was always good before but now Im like a friggin bloodhound. I can smell the cats food from downstairs sometimes. Its uncanny. People that say they dont smoke either are now busted by my spidey senses lol.

A two week clear liquid diet really isnt that bad.
Awesome! Great encouragement for those a little scared of the liquid diet. I know I was.

Bowel Movements
And now Im so afraid that it will happen again that I take my stool softeners religiously and now even my hubby monitors my poops lol.

48 hours after my surgery
My hospital gave me a Bari-Bear (a very firm teddy bear for bariactric patients) and I used that thing like crazy. It really helped me to be able to turn on my side a little bit. If I had to cough or anything I used it to hold my tummy tight. I loved my Bari-Bear

Bowel Movements
I take 1 stool softener in the morning and one at night. I learned the hard way about getting backed up. I ended up in the emergency room. No fun having someone else help you poop

Help--Work Lunch at Chinese Restaurant!
About once a month my friends and I go to our local Pho restaurant and I order mongolian beef every single time. I start with a half cup of egg drop then end up eating about 3 bites of mongolian beef. Where I go it isnt spicy at all but Ive heard others ask for extra spicy so Im thinking you can ask them to go easy on the spiciness. Its more sweet than spicy to me. This way I have leftovers for a few meals afterwards.

Stories we tell...how do you not "lie" without saying you had WLS?
There are a group of my friends and most of my family that know Ive had surgery but for those who dont know and ask I usually say portion control and that I eat several little meals throughout the day, stay away from carbs, lean protein, fruits/veggies, lots of water and excersize. Not lying because thats exactly what I do.

Losing the boobs! Nooooo!
Ive lost a LOT of mass in the boobies! But the trade off is that I now fit into size medium shirts from the junior section and I dont choke myself at night and mammograms are easier and I get to wear cuter bras, etc. You get the point lol.

Treated differently?
Absolutely! I get treated much different now. Doors are held open, salespeople are willing to help, people will stop to let me cross the street, people offer me help, etc. Someone pointed out that pre-surgery I wanted to be invisible and now that Im 87 pounds lighter, I dont mind being seen so that might have something to do with it but regardless, I get treated much differently now.

The new me ! Pictures included
Dayum!!! You look awesome. Love the ink too. Ive got a 15 hour piece (from bra line to butt crack lol) and even after 87 pounds, it doesnt look any different. I cant wait to get more ink on my new body! Way to go!

how about decaf coffee?
I also never stopped drinking caffeinated coffee. I enjoy decaf though cause its the taste not the caffeine for me. I drink a lot more tea than coffee though and it has caffeine in it too sometimes.
