  1. Well I always bow to you Kathy But thats awesome that you didnt lose much hair. Im sure thats encouraging to some folks. My mom also went thru chemo but lost tons of hair. It grew back thicker and nicer than before so thats good. I actually got my hair trimmed this weekend and as much hair as I thought Id lost, she told me its not really noticeable so that was nice to hear. Im still not going to cut it off unless I have to when the regrowth starts.
  2. I go thru phases of foods that I eat for a month or so then I switch it up. But I always have the following in my house: Tilapia filets Tuna eggs Turkey meatballs Low fat cottage cheese chicken breast If you like yogurt then buy yogurt (we keep it in the house cause my hubby likes it) Lean turkey slices I juice so I always have kale, spinich and frozen fruits Ground turkey for turkey burgers Thats pretty much my staples. I add a few things here and there. On Friday I usually pick up 12 wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and they will last me all weekend. If you notice, hardly any carbs and mostly Protein. That alone should be your #1 rule.
  3. No and NO! You will regret it. Just enjoy it because if you are anything like the majority of us, youll be losing it in clumps soon. I certainly like to think that there is someone that hasnt lost a ton of hair but I havent met one yet. If there is one, I bow to them cause they are one lucky mutha-lova!
  4. Enjoy your thick hair while you have it. Unfortunately unless you are a freak of nature, you will lose a lot of it. Mine started around the 3 months mark and Ive stopped losing at the 6 month mark but now Im waiting for the regrowth.
  5. I joke that its like witchcraft because it just doesnt make sense. When I hit a stall, I will up my calories and eat something that is higher in fat like an avocado or more nuts than normal and bam, stall broken. I do appreciate knowing that it works most of the time but still aim to maintain my healthier eating and physical lifestyle but sometimes you just need that scale to move.
  6. I have BCBS Federal also and was approved within a week. I love BCBS Federal.
  7. Amazing! I bet you feel as good as you look. And I bet you had to purge every single thing in your closet and buy all new stuff I love that part lol. Congratulations.
  8. Every time Ive stalled I up my calories for a couple of days and bam, stall breaks. Give it a try.
  9. I bought my dry brush at Target for under $10. It comes with a long handle but its removable. I just use the actual brush cause it has a strap that you slip your hand into. You CAN use the long handle I suppose but I brush better without it. You want to make sure to brush everything towards the heart. Except for your tummy region, that gets brushed in a clockwise motion. If you check Pinterest, there are plenty of articles about it.
  10. My lovely lady lumps have deflated big time. They used to choke me and now...well lets just say Im going to have to get a lift lol. I dont mind though, my shirts fit so nice now and I dont have to purchase larger tops to accomodate the 'girls'. As far as the lower region, no change, just less fatty tissue if that makes sense
  11. I used to be able to put away 2 big macs, large fry, large diet coke and be looking for desert 20 minutes later. Now I can eat about 2 buffalo wings or 2 ounces of chicken or 2 turkey meatballs or 1 scrambled egg. I dont feel deprived, I feel full for sure.
  12. Ive been dry brushing (you can google it) for the past 6 months and its supposed to improve blood circulation, regenerate skin cells, etc. There are lots of great benefits to it but one of the benefits is its totally reduced the appearance of cellulite on me. I had pretty bad (cottage cheese looking) cellulite on the backs of my thighs and its hardly noticable now. It really works. Its cheap to do so why not give it a try?
  13. Holy sh*t balls, thats so awesome! Congratulations. What an accomplishment. Im 25 pounds away from my 100. Your hubby is going to scoop you up and you guys might not leave the bedroom for a couple of days lol. Have fun and way to go, you look amazing.
  14. I love leftovers now. I think its awesome when I order an appetizer at a restaurant and I can have it for 2 or 3 meals.
  15. Yup, I gained 10 pounds from the fluids also. I didnt start seeing the numbers go down till around the 2 week mark which made me happy but then I hit the 3 week stall which made me homicidal But then after the stall, I saw the numbers go down continuously except for the repeated stalls. Just keep being good to your sleeve.
  16. Good lawd woman!! Now THATS how you celebrate a sleeve!! Good for you beautiful!
  17. McDonalds was my cure all for hangovers for sure lol. I dont drink anymore though. I didnt quit because of the surgery, I just was waiting till I was healed to attempt it and I just havent yet. Plus, Im so active now that it would piss me off that I couldnt go to yoga or bike riding with my husband because I had a hangover. Im glad you are feeling better then you did when you originally posted. Everyone is different and youll find out soon enough what you can and cant eat. Honestly, you may not even crave those things you are afraid you wont be able to eat. So dont worry, be excited about the new life you are giving yourself
  18. Excited, nervous and anxious is normal so dont fret. The excitement will last the longest, the nervousness and anxiousness is just temporary. Be good to your sleeve and your sleeve will be good to you and you will lose weight. All these wonderful people arent blowin' smoke up your tushy, it really works as long as you work it Just think, Christmas time youll be around 6 months and you will need a bunch of new clothes so Santa better be ready
  19. Its a shame though it may be true. Thanks for the article, it was very interesting.
  20. For me its more of what I CHOOSE not to eat because so far Ive been able to tolerate everything Ive tried. I find that I dont crave sweets nearly as much and if I do, a big chocolate covered strawberry does the trick. I dont do fast food unless its an emergency and even then I make sure to choose a non-breaded whatever with the most protein. When I started seeing the numbers on teh scale go down and my clothes getting bigger and the compliments coming, I did not want to do anything to sabotage that by eating fast food or falling into old habits. This coming from a girl that was a closet eater. Id have 2 big macs at lunch in my car by myself where no one could see me or even stop at McD's for 2 double cheeseburgers on the way home before dinner. Those days are LONG gone! Size 10 pants, medium (almost in a small) yoga pants and being fit/healthy have trumped any crap-ass food I could shove down my throat.
  21. Oh Kathy, you are just a ray of sunshine! Im so grateful for you my dear. Thats a great way to put it "receive people better" because I think thats a big part of it too. Im a lot less defensive now because for years people have been discriminatory, rude or disrespectful. It does take some adjusting though to have people be all nice and helpful. My true friends of course have always shown me love and support so Im grateful for that. Thank you for the open door for the century club sweetheart. I cant wait to join you. Ill bring party favors 6 months ago I never ever imagined how my life would change in so many positive ways. I cant wipe the smile off my face XOXO Bunny
  22. I suppose you could be right. I remember always wanting to be invisible I guess so why then would anyone approach me if I gave off the vibe that I didnt want any attention. I think the only store I felt accepted in was Torrid. The chics in there were always so nice because honestly, it was their job to cater to the bigger population. And I do carry myself different now. Although in my head, every time I see someone pull into or out of a McDonalds I secretly think "you do not need to be going there" and I remember almost feeling ashamed when I would go there. Im sure Ill work all this out but its a funny little experiment in human nature isnt it?
  23. Im a little conflicted at my recent observation...When I was fatter (75 pounds ago) and would go shopping for example, the clerks wouldnt offer to help me, workers in the grocery store or convenient store would act as if I didnt exist. Now that Im 75 lighter, people are so nice. They offer to help, they go out of their way to assist me or do me a favor. While I love the attention Im conflicted because its makes me a little sad to think that those same people didnt give me a second thought when I was bigger. Was I not a human being then too? Especially at that time I wouldve loved someone to pay attention to me because lord knows my self esteem needed a shot in the arm every so often. Not only that but now, I find that bigger people almost scowl at me. I can be nice as pie and am but will still get the looks. I know exactly how they feel though because I was there, unhappy and miserable. I remember frequently being envious of the thinner people, the people that could shop in the normal size clothes section, wear pretty shoes and all that. But I am who I am and Im still going to be nice and kind to everyone because we are all human beings after all but the view from one side of the fence to the other is quite an interesting one.
  24. Im 6 months out and have recently had a bagel thin with light cream cheese and was able to tolerate it just fine. I kind of wish I couldnt but there hasnt been a food that Ive tried that I couldnt tolerate. I 'prefer' not to eat super dense foods because 1 bite and Im done but other than that, my little tummy is a trooper.
  25. I get the hiccups when I wake in the morning until I put something in my tummy. But then I hiccup when my tummy is full and I should not take another bite. Go figure lol. Luckily my hubby thinks its cute.
