This Is How I Stay Regular - Tmi Warning :)
I will take pictures tonight when I get home if there are any left otherwise Ill have to make more and will take photos tomorrow. I use a mandolin http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/OXO-Good-Grips-reg-V-Blade-Mandoline-Slicer/1014640630?Keyword=mandoline this one to be exact (again, used a 20% off coupon). I put it on the second thinnest size. Not the thinnest but the next one up from there and Ive found it to be the perfect size. For sweet potato chips I use the thinnest setting though otherwise they come out as hard as steel lol. I use granny smith apples but you can use any apples, I just prefer the granny smith. I also make apple pears (sometimes called asian pears) and also regular pears. With pears Ive found that I dont need any coconut oil or cinnamon because they already taste like carmel. Once I chew them for a couple of seconds it tastes carmelly So yummy. You can do banana chips with honey on them sprinkled with cinnamon or ground flax seed for extra Fiber. There are so many things you can dehydrate that I was not aware of. Oh and we make pineapple rings too. We just buy them in the can as long as they are not in the sweeted syrup. Just drain them from the jar and put in the dehydrator, presto, its like pineapple taffy. Im not sure if you can eat them at 6 weeks. Once you are allowed to eat solids you should be fine as there arent any little pieces like popcorn. I would just ask your doc just to be safe though. But they are a delicious little miracle for me and my bathroom time

This Is How I Stay Regular - Tmi Warning :)
I just wish I had figured this out sooner lol. But better late than never right? We actually fight over the last of our apple chips so we have to make sure there are enough on hand. Plus you can crumble them up into oatmeal or granola if you like. We just eat them right out of the dehydrator. They are really easy to make. Just make sure you have a good mandoline. We use the second thinnest setting, its just the right thickness. Good luck with your apples. Let me know if you have any questions on how to do it.

This Is How I Stay Regular - Tmi Warning :)
Ever since Ive been sleeved which is just shy of a year now Ive had issues with being constipated. Ive pretty much had to take a stool softener every day for the past year just to get stuff moving along. But I FINALLY found something that works for me and works darn good I might add. I bought a dehydrator! chips, sweet potato chips and kale chips. Im telling what, the apple chips are so friggin delicious (I spray the lightly with coconut oil that I got at Whole Foods and then toss them every so lightly in a cinnamon/sugar mix, mostly cinnamon and super light on the sugar). We love them so much that we have to keep a stash on hand at all times because my hubby is a sugar addict and I crave crunchy things. Its so easy to get 1 or 2 apples in me a day and by the next day Im walking on sunshine cause bathroom time is productive, successful and downright action packed lol. So ever since Ive been dehydrating fruits and kale chips, no more stool softeners. Ive not been this regular since before surgery. I feel like a friggin genius for finally figuring this out lol. It even works better then my nutriblasts in the morning.

Pouch size?
Im a little over 11 months out and I can comfortable tolerate 3 ounces of dense Protein, less dense protein like tilapia I can push 4 but I have to eat very very slowly.

Call me <evil> but...
I too am looking forward to seeing the SIL during the holidays. The last time I saw her and my BIL I was 70 pounds lighter and her jaw almost hit the ground (the BIL was very happy for me). Now that Im 98 pounds lighter, things should be even more fun (insert evil giggle here).

Not happy
I also eat 5-6 times a day 2 to 3 ounces at a time. You may need to up your calories so your body gets out of starvation mode.

How will you celebrate reaching your goal?
Eat a box of donuts!! Just kidding. My hubby is going to make me a scruptious tiny meal (lobster or scallops) and take me shopping! Wahoo!

Went through halloween with not 1 piece of candy! First EVER!
Even for those of us that were a little weak and had something naughty, just think of what damage we would do prior to surgery. We would buy our candy and then have to buy more for the trick or treaters because we had eaten it all. I would have candy wrappers stashed in my purse and would hide the evidence under the garbage so I wasnt found out. Those days are over.

Went through halloween with not 1 piece of candy! First EVER!
Well you are better than I. I had 1 Peanut Butter cup. That was it though. I took super tiny bites and made it last forever. Prior to surgery I couldve taken down a whole bag. Congrats!

ACID REFLUX BEFORE SLEEVE....CHANCES OF HAVING IT AFTER?
I never had it prior to surgery and now I have it pretty bad. But I take Nexium and it completely controls it.

Smooth Recovery? Anyone?
Wonderful recovery here. No vomiting ever, only an hour of nausea, was walking immediately, minimal pain, no major problems. I can tolerate all foods that Ive tried. Down 98 pounds in 11 months, 2 pounds from goal but Im thinking I can go past goal.

Bcbs federal
Less than a week for me Good luck!

I have horrible reflux, what are ya'll doing about yours?
I never had it prior to surgery either but now I have it and its pretty bad. I was taking 2 Previcid 24-hour's every day and still popping antacids but doctor just put me on Nexium 40mg and 1 pill a day does it. Im 11 months out so Im hoping it slows down soon otherwise Ill have to get scoped.

Acid Reflux Disaster - Next -- Gastric bypass
Yes Nexium is a prescription. Walgreens said it was $40 but I went online to the Nexium site and you can sign up for a coupon card (its free) and you will only have to $18 per prescription as long as you present the card each time you pick up your Nexium. Thats cheaper then the generic Previcid 24's I was buying at Target.

Acid Reflux Disaster - Next -- Gastric bypass
My heartburn has been horrible lately. I never had it before surgery but since surgery I do. Ive been taking 2 24-hour Previcid (total of 30 mg's) daily and still have to pop antacids like they are candy. I talked it over with my wonderful surgeon a couple of weeks ago and he put me on Nexium (the little purple pill) and instructed me to take it twice daily. Each pill is 40 mg's. Ever since I started taking it, no more antacids and no more heartburn. AND...I only take the one pill a day. But he said that if that doesnt do the trick then I will have to get scoped and there was something he could do with a scope to relieve it before taking a drastic measure.

What do YOU do to break through a stall or plateau?
At 6 weeks I wasnt taking in much more than you do. As time goes on youll be able to get more calories in. But everytime Ive stalled, I up my calories and it breaks. Thats what works for me. Unless you are already on a bad path with things you shouldnt be eating of course like sugar or bad carbs then of course try going back to basics. Ive stayed on plan pretty much this entire time and especially in the beginning so even though I eating clean I needed to up my calories and my body responded almost immediately. Within days.

What do YOU do to break through a stall or plateau?
I up my calories by taking in more good fats (nuts, avacado, etc). Sounds strange but if I hit a stall, I up my calories and bam, stall broken.

Hair Regrowth?
I actually still colored my hair during the 'loss' period and it was fine. I just touched up the roots. There is NO WAY I was going without coloring lol.

Drain removed tomorrow! EEK!
I didnt have a drain with my sleeve but did have my appendix out 6 months after my sleeve surgery and had a drain. I also had one with my gallbladder surgery. The worst part is all going on in your head, seriously. I was a basket case about it too and they came out so quickly that I was like "that was it?". A pain killer certainly wouldnt hurt but it didnt really hurt, its a strange sensation but not really pain if that makes sense.
-
Hair Regrowth?
I started losing hair around the 3 month mark and I noticed regrowth around the 6 - 7 month mark.
