  1. I cant wait to get to a size 8. Im a 10 right now and still cant believe it. Way to go.
  2. I think about that ALL THE TIME. I just cant believe how much food people can eat, myself included pre-surgery. My husband was eating a bag of chips last night, not a little lunch serving, a big bag and he finished it. I had 2 and I was good lol. I see people order like 20 chicken wings and I can eat at the most 2 lol. As a society, we over serve food and its no wonder so many people struggle with thier health. A normal portion size for people takes me 4 or 5 meals to eat.
  3. I remember the day I got approved and it was one of the best days of my life. I cried tears of joy. I felt like I could see the light at the end of the tunnel and all the waiting, the pre appointments, the testing, etc was all worth it. Congrats! Youll soon be on the losers bench. Its really fun here
  4. I have a desk job as well and took my 3 weeks. I probably couldve gone back after 2 though but I was still fighting feeling weak from limited calories but by 3 weeks I had that all under control.
  5. You will be fine. Just be honest. Itll be over before you know it.
  6. Me too, I fell below the 40 BMI during my two year history and they still approved me. I didnt even have a consecutive 2 year history because I never went to the doctor so they approved me even with a huge gap in time. BCBS Federal is wonderful and from what Ive experienced, very supportive of the sleeve.
  7. I completely understand not believing what you see in the mirror. When I was 84 pounds heavier I would put on an outfit and think I looked so good but if I saw myself in a photo wiht that outfit on it was like a reality wake up call. I looked HORRIBLE! So I struggled with not believing what I see in the mirror. So now that Im 158 and wearing adorable clothes and thinking I look good, I struggle with am I really seeing myself correctly. I dont want to look like fool wearing some cute little outfit thinking Im all that and only to realize people are laughing at me behind my back. But...as Richard brought up, photos dont lie. So I find that to ease my anxiety about not believing the mirror, I take a picture of myself every day and if I like the photo then Ill believe what I see. Does that make sense? So take photos of yourself (full body, front view and side view and a close up face shot) every week or every 2 weeks and lay them out and that way there is no mistaking the progress you are making. I printed out a diagram of the body, very basic, not detailed and made a zillion copies. Every month I take my measurements and mark them on the sheet. At the top Ill put the date and my current weight and then all my inches from my arms, neck, waist, hips, thighs, bust and add up the inches. That way from month to month I can see how many more inches Ive lost and how many pounds. The pounds arent as important to me just because Im a slow loser. I go in spurts but regardless, the photos and the drawing with my measurements really help me believe what Im seeing. I hope this helps you.
  8. Im a little over 7 months out and went to a concert this past weekend and really wanted to partake so my husband made me jello shots. That way I could just have a little at a time and gauge the affect it had on me. It was the perfect solution. I had 2 and felt a little something, enough to giggle about it and about 20 minutes later I was ready for one more. I experimented and did 3 at one time and it was the perfect amount to get me dancing but not enough to act a fool lol. And I sobered up SO FAST and Im grateful to say that I did not have a hangover at all. I think Ill go the jello shot road the next time I partake. I dont want to sound like I drink often because if I drink twice a year thats a lot lol. This was my first time since being sleeved 7 months ago and I probably wont drink again until next summer. Probably
  9. Whoa Kathy, thats horrible! Dont you love that you come up with the best responses way after you have left the presence of the rude person? Im sure there are a million things you would like to say now. Save them up for when you have to go back. Your justice will be showing them that are dead wrong when it comes to you my dear. You are a champion and not only working that sleeve like a boss but you are the best cheerleader for all of us and we all love you so much.
  10. Thats funny because last night while I was falling asleep I kept thinking there was something bunched up under my hip bone and it was bothering me. I thought it was my night shirt in a wad or the sheet got all bunched up. Nope, it was just my hip bone Another funny one, now when my hubby smacks me on the butt it HURTS lol. It used to not hurt with all the padding but now, ouch
  11. Im 7 months out and am already at 84% of my excess weight and continuing to lose.
  12. I love it, I eat it all the time and its one of the rare 'good sliders' Ive found.
  13. I cried when I got approved too
  14. Im with you, I cant do super sweet drinks any longer either. I use only half of a crystal light serving otherwise its like syrup. I dont like plain water so I usually use a Mio flavor, that way I can make it as weak as I like.
  15. Me too. Ive had a problem with cold liquids since surgery. I prefer a nice cup of warm tea or room temperature anything.
  16. It took about 70 pounds going from a size 18+ to a 10 for most people to say anything. Like HatheryOnHerWay said, I think they are afraid you might be losing weight due to an illness and especially in a workplace setting, thats a human resources no no to bring up someones weight.
  17. I completely understand. I dont know how I was able to lug around an extra 76 pounds for all those years. Im only 5'4 so no wonder my poor back would cuss me out every day. Not to mention my poor feet. I dont know if I could even lift what Ive lost. Its astonishing what we became used to. I used to go bike riding with my hubby pre-op and there was this one teeny tiny hill that I would struggle with right? So a couple of days ago I got back on the bike (I had to lay off the exercise due to having hernia surgery a month ago) and we did our same path and after the hill my hubby asked "so how was that hill?" I said "what hill?" cause I didnt know what he was talking about until he told me I used to huff and puff to get up that itsy bitsy hill. Plus my butt didnt hurt from the bike seat like it used to. I love NSV's!
  18. 1. Call your insurance company and simply ask if the sleeve is covered and if so, what requirements do you need to fulfill before you can get an approval 2. As with any surgery, there will be some pain involved but the hospital will do everything they can to make you comfortable while you are there. After you are home, there are lots of things you can do to help yourself with the recovery. One of them is browsing this site because the members here are here to help.
  19. I can absolutely ignore it when I need or want to. I dont get ravenous at all. It used to be that I would have a blood sugar drop if I hadnt eaten in a long time but since I dont really eat sugar, that resolved itself. I could go all day and not eat and not feel different. I just use the word 'hungry' around people that dont know about the surgery but in reality, I just feel empty. Underestimating is fine with me too. Less is more now. I dont get a runny nose, I do a teeny tiny burp then a hiccup and I know Im done. Every time my hubby hears my little burb or hiccup he chimes in 'she's full' lol. I do miss the days when I could burp really loud and give my hubby a run for his money. I lose that contest every time now lol. Id rather have my size 10 pants then win a burping contest with the hubby though
  20. I used to be a snacker as well but I have no desire to snack mindlessly now. I barely get hungry and if its not meal time, Im sipping water so that takes the place of any snacking I might do. I hope your snacking desire gets taken away like the majority of your tummy
  21. Im SO sorry you had to go through that. I used have dumping syndrome bad after I got my gall bladder (pre-surgery). Luckily I learned that whenever I put something in my tummy, I had to wait for the explosion before going anywhere or leaving the safety of a restroom nearby. Luckily I havent had any dumping episodes since my sleeve but I did have BEER CHEESE SOUP on Fathers Day and thought I was going to die. My mother literally had to walk me to the bathroom because I thought I was going to pass out. I thought I had gotten food poisoning from some chicken salad I had the day before but maybe it was the beer cheese soup. Ill never eat it again, it may be evil
  22. Im with you. I do not eat to capacity. Its just uncomfortable to feel so full. Like you I really dont get hungry I feel more 'empty' than hungry. So I just eat a couple of ounces and Im good. Then maybe in 2 - 3 hours Ill have another ounce or two. When my hubby cooks for me he always weighs the food for me but I can pretty much eye ball it now and know what will be too much.
  23. If you get an insulated cooler you could bring some turkey roll ups (sliced turkey with a little green onion and cream cheese), hard boiled eggs, cheese slice, turkey jerky (but not if you have to walk your sodium, jerky has lots). Im sure I have more ideas but my cup of coffee hasnt kicked in yet this morning.
  24. Its so nice to know that you freaks exist lol. Thats awesome that you didnt lose it any. I was trying to will my hair to stay in my head but it didnt work, luckily Ive stopped shedding and my hubby has stopped complaining about cleaning the drains lol. FREAKS RULE
  25. Sleeved December 5, down 76 as of this morning. Woot woot!
