Psych Eval

Going in for my psych eval in less than 2 hours! I'm so excited and just slightly nervous because my Dr is a man and I have trust issues. But, I shall prevail!!!

I was also nervous, and my doc turned out to be a guy as well. The first thing he told me was that he had also had weight loss surgery, which really put me at ease. The session was very quick and informative. Wishing you luck for a great session!

So, I had my eval a little while ago. I was in and out in 20 minutes, no questionare just a little talking. He approved me but made it a requirement that I get into therapy for my stress related binge eating. I didn't have a problem with that. However I have already called 6 different places listed on my insurance's website and I have only found 1 practice that handles eating disorders. And they only take children.... Grrr... Can I just make an appt for what's causing the stress and not the eating disorder itself?? Will the surgeons office find out when they get the notice from the psychiatrist?? I really want this surgery!!

My surgeon works with a social worker who is an expert in eating disorders. You might want to try to look into working with a social worker as a counselor for your stress. They may not be covered by insurance but they usually charge much less than a psychologist/ psychiatrist. She also recommended some books/websites to help with stress eating. I will go through my stuff and post them later.
