    what should I eat ?

I'd say no, just cause they can expand with juice in your tummy.
  2. I'm not a Dr. or a Nut, but I've found that if you log in your stats into myfitnesspal or another weight loss site, that whatever calories they give you in order to lose 2 lbs. a week you should cut in half. According to what I should have and what my Nut told me to eat it's exactly 1/2. Just an idea, but your nut should definitely tell you about how many calories to be getting.

    looking for sleevers

Welcome to the site, you will find great support and info here. Good luck on your journey.
  7. And if you can get it done by the robot, I'd do it. I didn't have any pain or problems since surgery, and I really think the robot assisted surgery is the key. Not as much trauma on the muscles, etc.
  8. Welcome, you will find a ton of great information on this site. I to was set on getting the DS, and my surgeon was only 1 of 2 Dr's here in NC that specialized in it. He told me my BMI wasn't high enough and he didn't think my insurance would approve it, but said I could do the 1st part, which is the sleeve because I wanted to keep my pyloric valve intact. I did a ton of research before deciding what surgery to get and alot of studies showed keeping the pyloric had better longterm success. Well come to find out my insurance did approve the DS, but by then I had read alot on the sleeve and decided that it would be sufficient for my weight loss and that it was less risky due to no rerouting of anything. I like the fact that my stomach works like it always has, it's just smaller. I was sleeved on 12/19 and follow up with my surgeon today. I saw my nut on 12/31 and was down 14 lbs. and 7". Last time I weighed I was down a total of 18 lbs. You will do great, just know the risks, and follow what your Dr. says. You will notice on here that every Dr. has their own set of rules as far as pre/post-op diets, restrictions, etc... I follow the rules I was given and it is working for me. Good luck on your journey to a healthier you!

    Hunger

I'm only 3 weeks out and haven't had a problem with anything I have tried, although I haven't gone off program, so we will see if that holds true with veggies, steak, etc...

    Pureed food stall

Try it without the cheese, maybe you're lactose intolerant since the surgery.

    Pain, Pain, go away!

If you still have your gallbladder it's probably stones. Very common following WLS.
  12. It depends on what you're allowed I was allowed anything I could chew to applesauce consistency. Fish, chicken and eggs should be your go to, if you're allowed to eat that during your mushy phase. If not, I'd say greek yogurt.

    Change of Plans!

If you've already done everything required you shouldn't have to do it again just because you're switching the surgery. I switched mine from the DS to the sleeve (which is the 1st pt. of the DS) and they just called in the insurance co. and changed the CPT code....didn't have a problem. Good luck!

    Rash

Sounds like an allergic reaction to something, I'd stop the biotin as that one isn't a necessity and see if that helps it; if not, definitely talk to your Dr. about the other vitamins

    beef jerky?

Too tough on your sleeve, I was told 3 months out for anything tough, stringy or sticky.

Tasty Treat & High in Protein

    Can you use regular PB?
  17. Try not to think too much about it because you may not have any problems. I've been on mushy foods and have never had any vomiting, sliming or anything. I agree with Karen on not trying new things unless you're at home, just in case you do get sick. Just pay attention to your tell. I get a little pain in my sternum and then I will start to burp....so I stop eating. Measure your foods, no more than 1/4c. at a time, even if you can handle more, until you get used to what your tell will be. Good luck....it's nice getting to eat some protein instead of drink it all the time. Good luck!
  18. Call your Dr. and let them know, as long as you're not running a fever you should be fine though. Good luck!

    Let the healing begin!

Thanks love, but I have had no problem with milk. I've used in my protein shakes, eggs, and in my decaf coffee. I honestly haven't had any problems with any foods yet, although I haven't tried any meats other than lunch meat yet. But I'm hoping I do well with chicken, tuna, shrimp and hamburger.

    Let the healing begin!

So my adventure began at the end of July when after researching for several months, I decided it was time. On August 29th I saw the surgeon. The entire process to get insurance approval was pretty easy and I had no problems or setbacks. I was approved on November 5th, and could've had surgery the following Friday, but decided to wait until my work closed for xmas break. I was finally sleeved on 12/19/12 and everything went well. I didn't need any pain meds following surgery and haven't had any trouble with drinking as of yet. The biggest thing I've noticed is that I nap ALOT. I am working on getting my liquids in, so far I am up to 55g. of protein and close to 20 oz. of water, tea, etc. I can tell I'm full when I get a spasm type pain in my sternum or I start to burp...so I stop and wait. I get to start yogurt, eggs, cream of wheat and soups w/o chunks on 12/26, but I will start a day early as my mom-in-law made her famous potato soup just for me for xmas, and I will eat a little of it. I will see how my new tummy handles that....hopefully well. I'd really hate to get sick at her place because I know she'd feel bad. As for exercise, it's been pretty windy and cold here, so I've been doing laps in the house often and am hoping to get outside to walk soon. So far, I feel pretty lucky. Hoping it will stay this smooth during the food transitions.

    Help

Maybe you should see a counselor to help figure this out. Maybe you are trying to fill a void. Maybe you're not happy in some area of your life and you turn to food. I hope you figure it out and get back on track.

    Hair Loss

My nut told me it only lasts for about 2 months and that some say biotin helps. I'd say only wash every other day, and don't do anything to it, no blow drying, curling, gels, coloring or anything. Massage your head daily to help stimulate new growth. Good luck. I will be complaining of the same thing in 2 1/2 months I'm sure....but it's a small price to pay for what I've gained (lost)

    My Verticle Sleeve story

Congratulations on your life changing decision, and it's awesome that you and your husband are doing it together. That will make it so much easier as you won't have to watch him eat things you cannot. I am only 2 weeks out and am so thankful that I chose to have this done. You and your husband will do great.

    Medical Tag/Bracelet Curiosity

I did. I put VSGastrectomy, no blind NG tube and my ICE #. I don't think alot of people wear them, but I'm not taking any chances. I wore a diabetes bracelet before that, so it's no different. I got a nice bracelet looking one from Lauren's Hope. They're kind of pricey for the bracelets but they look like regular jewelry.
