  1. I wondered the same thing, and when I first got the sleeve, i thought, I'll drink when I eat, that's dumb! I tried it, and every now and then out of habit I will grab a drink by accident. For me, it HURTS! I feel like i'm going to choke or vomit when I do. It fills every last crevice in your stomach and it takes a good 30-45 minutes for the pressure to go away. Sometimes I can manage to burp and feel some relief, but it's loud and sounds and feels gross. I do find that I can drink about an hour after a meal without any pain or pressure, but everyone is different. It would be nice to drink during a meal, but for me, anything more than to wet my mouth is unpleasant.

  2. Don't worry, what you are experiencing is PERFECTLY normal. I think we all had it, and some are envious of the time you are having now, as once you move to more solid foods, things can slow down tremendously. Essentially you don't really have anything in you right now so in one end, out the other. Don't panic, it will slow and stop. Congrats on getting sleeved!!

  3. How far out are you? You should not be eating until you vomit. If you are within the first month or two, you need to follow your NUTs diet strictly, otherwise, you could bust a staple and be in serious health trouble, also, eat and drink very slowly. If you are further out, and are suddenly having issues, you need to see your Dr. ASAP, maybe even go to the emergency room NOW! No matter what stage you're at, it's not ever 'normal' to vomit, ever, and it is typically because you are eating too much or too fast.

  4. I was in a similar boat. I have been over weight for only about 7 years, I got into a deep depression and gained over 100 lbs in less than 2 months at one point, and never was able to keep it off after that. I did not have any co-morbidities, and my Dr. would always say 'youre so healthy for being so big' Gee, thanks?!!? I started working with a bariatric surgeon and then my husbands insurance changed, they specifically excluded any type of surgery, if I would have done it stateside, it would have been 16k out of pocket! I ended up going to Mexico, and I don't regret a single step of my journey. I knew this was the right decision for me. I've met many people, on this forum, and when I was in MX, that had lower BMI, or were having the sleeve for 'different' reasons, and I felt bad they were judged harshly by their Dr's, some by their family and friends, for wanting to do what they knew was right, and would save their lives. Don't let anything hold you back from this! Fight fight fight!! If you know it is right for you, do it! I am happy to help if I can, even just to lend an ear. Self pay in Mx for my surgeon was only $4,750.

  5. The liquid diet is really the worst of it. The reason I say that is because after the surgery, you don't have the hunger. I also was freezing cold the entire time I was on liquids only, then bam, the surgery, and my body has had no problems regulating temp. It is strange going out to eat with family and friends and not feeling hunger, I enjoy the smells, and I do my part to 'eat' the people I'm with have more concern for my lack of eating than I do. I have even had a few waitresses ask if I didn't like my food and wanted it recooked or wanted to order something else. I do Mortgages, so business lunches and entertaining is a huge part of what I do, especially as the holidays are here. I went to a Holiday party right before my surgery, and gleefully filled up a plate in the buffet line just to seem 'normal' and then switched out my full plate for my husbands empty one as we ate, no one seemed to notice or mind much. I have told veery few people, and I am happy with my choice. Some people notice the weight loss already, and some don't. I think that the Holidays is a great time to go through this, that way in the New Year as people notice my weight loss more, or if people comment I'm not eating, I can always tell them I'm sticking to a strict New Years diet ;) I wish both of you ladies luck, and don't feel sad about not eating, just having your family with you means more to them than you eating with them, I assure you. Congrats on making the decision to have WLS, and make a change for the rest of your life!
