  1. I am not sleeved yet however, i have NO problem losing weight. I have always been able to lose the weight but keeping it off is a different story! I am pretty sure we have all been on MANY MANY MANY diets and can teach a class on the does and don't of weight loss. However, we or sould i say I do not have the will power to do it on my own. The sleeve is a TOOL we still have to work at losing the weight, but the sleeve is our little personal trainer of food when we eat something we are not supposed to it will let us know! I have been protein shakes since October and everyone at work keeps asking are you sure you want to have surgery you are doing so well on the shakes my answer to them is I know myself. I Know I CAN NOT live off the shakes for the rest of my life. I know i can not live off of 800 cals a day either.
  2. well i go on the 8th of feb and i will let everyone know how it went!
  3. my BMI is 68 and i am getting sleeved on 2/8/2013 with Dr. Lopez. In Tj at MiDoctor hospital. it is 700 dollars more but he specializes in high BMI. I was referred to him from mexicali.
  4. i have to be honest i am scared about the pain also, however i spoke with a few people that had the surgery and they said it is like gallbladder surgery. I had my gallbladder and was up and walking four hours later. they only thing that hurt was my throat and my stomach was sore at the cuts. So i am hoping people are correct
  5. which company are you going with? alighterme is only two days in the hospital and rest in a hotel
  6. i use two scoops of vanilla AMP protein powder from GNC added to two table spoons of decaf coffee sf almond milk and SF chocolate syrup (can use any kind). I blend it with ice taste like a frozen mocha!
  7. WOW you look great!!
  8. I found a protein powder that is good!! I mix it with the pre made EAS carbadvantage shakes. The protein powder is called amp from GNC i got the chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored. I take one scoop of which ever i am in the mood for add two table spoons of decaf instant coffee, a vanilla eas shake and ice and blend it. It taste like a frozen coffee drink from starbucks! or I do the chocolate shake with the extra chocolate protein powder with the PB2 powder and ice and blend it taste like a peanutbutter cup! and with the AMP protein added to the EAS shakes each shake is 41 grams of protein!
  9. I have a stupid question but both my husband and I are having surgery and I know we will Rx's and we are worried about bringing cash but Ronda for alighterme said they have fees for international charges in credit and debit cards that can be pricey. And since we both well have surgery we don't have a place to store cash. What would you all suggest? And how much was the meds that you had to get?
  10. MamaDupa thank you so much for posting your story!! My husband and I are going to Dr. Lopez Feb 8th. Your post answered many concerns I had!! I do have a question for you how much were the meds? I know this a stupid question but (i never traveled outside the country besides a cruise) does the Rx take depit cards or do you need to bring cash or travelers checks?
  11. is there anything besides Biotin for hair loss?
  12. My Husband and I will be sleeved 2/8/2012 by Dr. lopez
  13. can you go back to drinking the protein shakes? it may help just to increase the protein intake and lower the carb intake? Good luck!! and congrats!!!
  14. are you going to Mexico? You can try to finance thru the places in Mexico. They offered me that....
  15. WOW thanks for sharing! You look great!! I am leaving for Tijuana Feb 7th! I am getting nervous so stories like this really help!
  16. thanks for sharing! I am now only a month a a few days away from my surgery and i find myself thinking about what life is going to be like after surgery more and more! I live in New Orleans and EVERYTHING is related to food. so i am a bit scared... another thing that scares me is I have 215 lbs to lose before i am "normal" I WANT to be normal!!! but 215lbs is an adult and a child that i have to lose! I dont want to go thur this surgery and still be obese!!
  17. I have been on this site for a while now reading, commenting, and chatting; but I never really told my story. So here goes..... I have ALWAYS been heavy. I can remember going to weight watchers when I was 8 years old. Eating cottage cheese and liver and onions! (what every eight year old wants to eat) I was on and off diets my whole childhood. When I was 13 I went into a Children's Hospital weight study. I lost over 155 lbs! I was down to 135!!! The smallest I have EVER been. It was a Protein diet I ate 17 grams of protein a day and that is IT!! No carbs, no dairy, no fat, only green veggies. After being on that diet for over a year my kidneys started shutting down and I was breaking bones left and right. I had to get off that program and I started a weight watchers style program thru Children's Hospital and gained all the weight back plus more by the time I graduated high school. In college I yoyo dieted losing 20- 65lbs. Getting to the highest I have ever weighed 411lbs. Then I was introduces to the Adkins diet. My mom and I both went on it I lost over 100lbs I met my husband who just so happened to be on the Adkins diet also. We dated for 3 years going on and off the Adkins diet losing and gaining weight... After we were married I discovered my passion for cooking and baking welllll...... 11 years later my husband is at his max weight of 309lbs and I was slowly climbing back to my max weight. I have wanted to have the surgery but my insurance company will not cover it and honestly my husband was not a big fan of me getting it done. So after the insurance company said no and we found out the cash price I just let it sit on the back burner. Then my husband went to the doctors with me and heard the doctor tell me I am going to die if I keep up this weight (390) with my family history. It was light a light bulb went off in my husband’s head. Then my husband started having chest pains and trouble walking because of the weight he gained. So I talked my husband into going to a local doctor’s seminar on the sleeve and we did and he was SOLD!!! Not only did he want me to have surgery now he wants it also!!! We thought about how we were going to pay for it even thought about taking out a second mortgage, but I had a friend tell me about Mexico. So I started researching, while I was researching Mexico my husband business partner is from the country of Jordan and his brother and brother in law are doctors so he offered to find out how much it would cost to get it done in Jordan. My husband came home and told me about Jordan so I started researching it also. We looked into airfare it was very pricey and a VERY VERY VERY long flight and we were not sure if we would be able to fly back after surgery in the given time we had off of work. So I told my husband about Mexico. I emailed alighterme.com and by the end of the end of the day Ronda called me and emailed me everything I needed. In October we made or deposits and bought our plane tickets. We started drinking Protein shakes twice a day and eating a low carb dinner. We stayed on this until Christmas. Christmas we did eat but I have to tell you it was a fraction of what we would have eaten last year. I weighed myself the day before Christmas and I was down to 366 my husband 287. Today we decided to take our before pictures and OMG!!! I usually dress very well for my weight but for my before picture I put on a tight tank top with a pair of leggings so NOTHING can hide!! I looked at that picture and asked my husband am I really this big? I never take full body photos, I know I am fat but I will be honest I did not realize I was this large! We started our pre op diet today again and I am hoping to be less than 350 before my surgery February 8th with Dr. Lopez! I cannot wait to start my journey to the NEW me!!
