  1. It will work if you want it to. My skinny husband married me at 300 pounds. He never asked me to change and I'll never ask him. He eats what he wants and sometimes I'll even make him a different dinner than what I make for myself. He didn't conform to my lifestyle changes and I didn't expect him to. He's an adult who can make his own decisions.
  2. I've been here a while ....there are lots of carb nazis! I'm 11 months out down 103 pounds and don't count carbs. I eat a half a sandwich several times a week.
  3. According to my kinesiology book....lol......if you know your body fat percentage ....... Multiply your weight with your percent body fat giving you your total fat weight. Then body weight minus fat weight equals your lean mass in pounds. Lean mass divided by (1-ideal fat percentage) equals ideal weight. I'll use mine as an example 198 X .35=69.3 198-69.3=128.7 128.7 / (1-.13)= 148 Which I think is too skinny for me but it's another way of calculating "ideal body weight"
  4. I'm not convinced that exercise does much for loose skin!!! My legs and lower abdomen are horrible!
  5. I got the sleeve for all the same reasons listed above, but also this was my chance at a fresh start. A redo. Forced portion control. It doesn't come without struggle though. I didn't have the surgery to eat like I used to. I've studied nutrition and prepared myself to make life changes. Sure, I have days or even weeks where I fall back into old habits but now it's easier for me to get back on track. Instead of gaining all the weight back, I may gain 2-3 pounds, get back on track, a continue on with my weight loss. I think those who gain the weight back have given up completely. Your outcome is still up to you but the sleeve helps tremendously! Good luck on your journey.
  6. Thanks! Smoke is what causes breathing problems not just cigarettes. Smoke is smoke.
  7. I recently quit smoking cigarettes after someone told me that once you damage the aveoli in your lungs, they never repair themselves. Imagine trying to breath out of a coffee straw for the rest of your life. Of course, I already knew that, but the visual made me quit after 15 years of being a heavy smoker. Yikes! Anyway, that's all I have to contribute lol.
  8. Surgery date 11/03/12 at 296 Today I'm 196! I'm 5'8
  9. I lost a two month old horse......good lord!
  10. Groceries have stayed the same. Buying healthy food is not more expensive at my grocery store. But we never go out to eat anymore so we've saved about 300-400 dollars a month!
  11. I'm half and half. For the most part, I try to eat a balanced diet. I still will eat pizza, chips, ice cream, etc but don't make it an everyday thing. I've lost 100 pounds in 10 months without being obsessive about eating healthy. It's something I can do forever and with great results so far. I am active though. Not an exercise fanatic, but I park in the back of the parking lot, take the stairs, do a work out 3-4 times a week, etc.
  12. I'm whiter than the whitest shade of white. I like to say translucent haha! I'm 10 months out and scars have faded to pink but still very noticeable.
  13. I wasn't either. I was 100% sure I was making the right decision!
  14. I've lost 100 pounds and the flap is definitely there. It's a flat flap now
  15. Butter, did you start school this semester? How's it going?
  16. I drink 1-2 cups daily! I'm almost a year out and never had a problem. I add muscle milk for flavor and a little protein. I'm like you.....can't live without it!
  17. Oh. My. Goodness!!!!!! Look at you! Stunning! Happy birthday and congratulations! That is an amazing transformation!
  18. I live in a city with about 6 million people .......I will be avoiding the DMV for as long as I can! I do need to update my cosmetology license pic though!
  19. Ok so I'm sorta cheating, but today I weigh 196!!! Hit my goal a day late
  20. I asked my 5 year old if he remembers when I was fat and he said, "you're still fat, mommy." Haha! You're doing great! Keep it up!
  21. My mother was a food **** too. That's a big part of my obesity. That kind of support is more destructive than helpful. Just let him know how proud of him you are for his journey, but your journey is yours and yours alone. You don't need someone making snide remarks about your eating. It only causes shame and guilt.
