  1. 5'9 at 250 puts you at a bmi of 37. My resting bmr is around 1700 calories. I work out, have a job on my feet, and am generally very busy. If I eat 1700 calories, I don't lose. I try to stay around 1300. It's very easy to eat that much at almost a year out. Very few people struggle with losing too much but it's possible.
  2. I'm flattered. I smile, thank them for the compliment, and tell them I'm happily married!! I don't care if those who find me attractive now would find me attractive before at almost 300 pounds. Truth is, probably not. I didn't find myself too attractive then either! I think I'm more approachable now because I have confidence, am outgoing, and extremely happy!!! I don't get insulted or over analyze their intentions, unless they are rude of course!
  3. Look at you! You look great! Congrats!
  4. I feel like this when I eat too fast, too much, or something difficult to digest. Soup with chunks hurts because of the liquid with solid food. Hopefully that's what's causing you discomfort.
  5. The scale read 198.4 today!!! FINALLY under 200 pounds!!! This was one of my major goals so even if I don't make it to 196 by Monday, I'm ecstatic!!!
  6. You could wait but it's only a matter of time before stones develop. That first attack I had was the worst pain I've ever been in and it lasted 2.5 hours! I had four more attacks before I had to get it removed .....I'm stubborn and had Vicodin lol. It wasn't until the attack was so bad Vicodin didn't work that I went to the ER.
  7. 3 of mine opened pretty wide and deep 10 days post op. I kept them clean, dry, no band aids, and kept a close watch for infection. They healed on their own in about 4 weeks. Don't close it with steri strips because it could trap bacteria in there.
  8. Ohhh! Like, you don't feel full anymore but not hungry either? I think I get it now. When I get to the point that I'm feeling weak, I still get hunger pangs. I guess some or a lot don't. That's where I was confused.
  9. I guess I don't know what hunger is either. If my stomach feels empty and I'm weak, I say I'm hungry! Maybe if someone could explain how hunger felt to them pre op,I'd have a better understanding. Soes it mean your stomach doesn't growl anymore? Mine still does and I take a PPI everyday.
  10. I see a lot of people saying they don't feel hungry anymore just an empty feeling. What's the difference between feeling hungry and feeling "empty"?
  11. Love the new do and congratulations on the weight loss!!!
  12. I'll be there next semester hopefully!! I couldn't start the nursing program this semester so I'm going to apply again next semester. Right now I'm at cyfair.
  13. Woohoo! How exciting that your going back to school!! I went back after 10 years and like you, I was nervous ......terrified actually! I absolutely love it though. As a matter of fact, I don't want it to end! I've always been obsessive but I find that with me getting healthy, I have more excitement for life and less fear. You'll do great!
  14. If sugar isn't listed in the ingredients, then it's natural sugar from the fruits. I tried it once and thought it was horrendous! Lol.
  15. I tried everything! Nothing worked and I had to get it removed.
  16. Oh my man loves a thick woman too! Now that I've lost weight, he's all over me! He loves me and I think my new found confidence and happiness is what has him even more attracted to me. Plus, sex is a lot better now!
  17. I'm one of those who want to believe but just don't have it in me. I envy those who without a doubt believe in a higher power or don't. I'm lost in the middle. I guess that would be agnostic, right? It's funny ....I used to whole heartedly believe in a higher being but not with organized religion. I read the Bible front to back and lost all the faith I had. I can't control how I feel and it's actually been a very real internal battle with myself. If God is real, has he left me? I love a good mature discussion about religion. It's actually very interesting to hear different stand points. Having an open mind and acceptance is a beautiful thing. Thinking about where we came from, why we're here, and what's beyond us makes me feel like my head is going to explode! Lol
  18. Not sure but my husband's veins can get double that size! He probably has like 5% body fat haha!
  19. Thank you, Laura, TES, and Richard. Today was better. I got most of what I needed to do done. I leave for Dallas tomorrow. It's been hard dealing with this alone since I live in a different city.
  20. I'm so sorry for your loss. I experienced a miscarriage in October of 2011. My husband and I had been trying and after that we stopped trying. Four months later I was pregnant again with my now 11 month old baby boy. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. I hope you find peace and am sending baby vibes your way! Take care.
  21. Saturday morning I awoke to the news that my grandfather had a brain hemorrhage and isn't strong enough for surgery. He was sent home with hospice to be kept comfortable until his passing. He passed last night at 7 pm. This man was invincible. He suvived his ship being bombed in WWII, a heart attack, and a few strokes. He's always bounced back. He's survived by 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grand children. It's hard to believe the leader of the pack is gone. A huge loss for my family. I've been struggling greatly with emotional eating. Like almost 2000 calories both Saturday and Sunday. I never realized I had emotional eating problems until now. I need help, advice, comfort ....anything. I have so much to do to prepare for the funeral. All I want to do is lay here.
  22. That's awesome! The first 5 days were the worst for me so hopefully you're in the clear!
