  1. It's scary that doctors even agree to do this surgery on anyone who has less than 100 pounds to lose and especially on patients under 200 pounds. Not being rude or judgemental, it's a genuine concern. There are real risks that come along with the sleeve. You admitted to being inactive, have you tried being active? How tall are you? What is your goal weight? I didn't read all the responses so sorry if you already answered. It sounds like you are already going through with it so I hope you are prepared mentally and I pray for a successful outcome!
  2. I agree with everyone else. Surgery should be your last resort. Maybe you could work with a nutritionist, start a workout regiment, see a therapist. I was working out and eating pretty healthy before surgery, the weight just wouldn't come off. Even after surgery, I'm a slow loser. I've checked my hormones and everything seems normal. I don't know why it's so hard for me to lose weight. You're so young and there are risks with this surgery. But like a previous poster said, I too was obese all of my life and by your age I was probably already 250. I was insecure and had low self esteem. If I had the opportunity to better my quality of life I probably would have. Again, it should be your last resort.
  3. And people who have been know there is absolutely no way to accommodate more patients. There's no room. Ok ok I'm done haha!
  4. And Aussie, I just had my second baby and know exactly what you are talking about!!! Haha! When I told one of my clients that I was pregnant, her first response was...."Oh, my coworker was 6 months out and just had a miscarriage because she smoked before she got pregnant" :/ Really? No congrats? And how does anyone know the cause of the miscarriage was smoking BEFORE pregnancy?
  5. I'm glad I already got the surgery too and did not come here for help. It seems everyone is okay with reading false information. This surgery is scary enough. I guess if you were really interested in seeing a surgeon, you would ignore the "I heard" stories and contact those who really saw that surgeon. If anyone needs any information about my experience, I am happy to give it! Just send a message so you don't get distracted by people who did not use Almanza. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!
  6. That's not a reply to what I said though. I physically saw 8 hospital beds. That's it.
  7. I'm wondering the same thing!
  8. That's horrific but even in that post there were 6 patients. I think this is a risk you take when you have a surgery in a different country. They do their thing then send you off back to your country. She even said not to risk having surgery in MX. Are you going to advocate for only having surgery in the US?
  9. And yea, if you have absolutely no experience with a surgeon, you should add a disclaimer.
  10. My point is getting lost here. I just want people to have the correct information. I'm only talking about the amount of surgeries a day. Every thing else is true, he works out of a well equipped clean clinic, low to high bmi, it's in a shopping center, you stay in a hotel. I'm not swaying anyone's decision. I'm not saying anything bad about other surgeons. I don't have a "my surgeon is better than yours" attitude. If several people who HAVE BEEN to Almanza are saying it's not true, why claim what you are saying is fact when you've never been?
  11. Simple. Not telling the truth. Just because someone else started the lie does not mean you are not lying by repeating the lie. Seriously? I don't mean to be rude but I heard things about another Mexican doctor that I am not sure is true. I wouldn't go around telling people he stole someone's money. I didn't experience it and it's that person's story to tell not mine. How are you going to argue "facts" when you have no Idea and people who have actually been are telling you otherwise? This probably rooted from an exaggeration.
  12. Stating that Almanza does 10-12 patients a day is not an opinion. And I have talked to his older patients who are my friends. Friends I grew up with and hang out with. Not off of internet forums. They went to him last year and I went in November. So I think it's safe to say in the past year, he does no more than 8 surgeries a day. I understand that you feel more safe in a hospital. That's an opinion.
  13. I'm not sure of the correct answer, but I started at six weeks and was fine.
  14. There's so much false information attained from hearsay about Almanza on here. Almanza only has 8 hospital beds. Unless you physically saw a patient sleeping on the floor, it isn't fair to say he does 10-12 a day. You don't go to the hotel until the second day.
  15. I love all of those shows too! Man vs food makes me want to vomit though! I still have a passion for food, just a healthier one.
  16. I leave the house. Go shopping for a couple of hours, think about why I'm angry, and come home feeling much better.
  17. It would be my luck that the world is ending. I still have 100 pounds to lose! I will never be skinny, darnit! My plans....working :/
  18. My skin is transparent, so I've always bruised easy!
  19. If anyone finds a way, let me know! I get a text and an email. So annoying!
  20. Your weight fluctuates throughout the day. One pound is nothing!
  21. I wouldn't exactly call someone a liar for not disclosing their medical history. Omitting information from you mother when you were a child is completely different.
