  2. I was wondering when someone would ask me that. Saltine crackers for taste. After Protein of course. Plus it was one of those foods that I would eat when ever I had the flu. It was easy on the stomach so I figured starting with those may help with transitioning from liquids and strained cream soups. Not like its going to be a main part of meals just a help w transitioning.
  3. Had my post op appointment today (kaiser patient) and just got cleared to stage three. So the first thing I added was saltine crackers, two. Sucked and chewed until apple sauce consistency. They tasted so good. That was almost two hours ago. No problems. tonight I will try either eggs or thin shaved deli turkey. Finally found a protein I like. Via reading posts through out this website. Anyway Premium Protein Chocolate Shake from Costco. 30g of protein, 160 cal and 11 fl oz. dr says if I don't react well to newly added foods to stop and go back to clear liquids and protein shakes only for 24 hours. Here's to new flavors in my mouth.

Agreed! I love this website/forum. It has really helped these past few days with support and knowledge. And just knowing there are other people going through the same emotions as I am. ????

    10 Days

I feel like I could totally handle regular foods but I don't want to go backwards in recovery. Just like any injury or surgery. Sometimes we feel great but can over do it and end up several steps back. I am afraid if I eat mashed potatoes or toast it would injure my stomach pouch and be worse off. So I am sucking it up and sticking to drs orders. You can do it. You will have ups and downs, I know I have. I've gotten ticked off at my family for eating regular food and enjoying them near me. Now the go in another room to eat. I just keep reminding my self it's a marathon and I can't just cut across the park and be a winner, I have to run the entire course and some parts of that course will be worse than others. Wait to add new stages until you are cleared or until the time frame is appropriate not just because you feel great and "think" it is time and you can handle it. In my humble opinion.

I was sleeved the day before you. I am eating cream of mushroom soup (strained), no sugar added apple sauce, low fat cottage cheese, myoplex protein and Premier chocolate protein shakes from Costco, sugar free jellos and puddings, light and fit yogurt, cream of tomato soup, broth and of course water.
  7. I know it's a journey but this part stinks. I have post op Tuesday. In my kaiser book it says stage 3 is adding thin shaved turkey deli meat, eggs, low fat mayo, saltine crackers, dry toast.... It doesn't even say much about puréed food. Funny how different or stages can be. I lost 28 pounds preop (july 2) and am now at a total of 40 pound weight loss (surgery being the 27th of sept). Don't fear... It will come off. We can do it! You can do it.
  8. @kparker: I had mine done the 27th and everyone around me is enjoying food too. The last two days have been tough. In fact I kicked my husband out of my "recovery living room" while he was chowing down on Jack in the Box. I don't really like Jack in the Box but man even just eating some chicken or mashed potatoes or even a salad. Hoping this passes when I get back to work. Hang I there.
  9. I make my protein shakes with ice, water and about half a banana or blueberries. That tastes great, before surgery but now since I can't drink it as fast it melts and solidifies and takes gross. I've also made it with just water but it get too bubbly/frothy and makes me gag. I use unjury protein, vanilla and my husbands protein from max muscle (can't remember the brand) chocolate flavor with water and again since I have to sip and just can't slam if down like Pre-surgery it tastes like baby formula by the time I get half way through my requirement.
  10. @mags: why prenatal? Is there protein in those? I have my post op on Tuesday I will see what my surgeon says.
  11. Thank you for all the suggestions. I do have a blender shaker and magic bullet. I found one that isn't too bad, fuzzy navel. But I will have to try a place that has samples for sure. Thank you again!!
  12. Hi Just had my sleeve surgery last Thursday and I am tired! I figure I am not getting enough protein. I keep trying protein powders (unjury and my husbands from Max Muscle) Pre-op I had no problem drinking protein. In fact I actually it. My problem now is since I can only drink 1-2 oz at a time it gets gross sitting around as I try to sip it over an hour. My iced blended ones melt and separate and taste like crap. Plus the bubbles. It tastes like baby formula. I NEED to get my protein. How? Any ideas?
  13. My final straw was being diagnosed with diabetes and seeing my weight, where I struggled at a plateau for years, of 225 rise up to 270 in three years. My kids are getting old enough to have their own families and I want to be healthy and alive for my grand kids. I want to fit in the rides at Disneyland and not the "rent a scooter to get around the park" kind of ride either!!! And the last two times I flew the seat belt almost did not close and since I fly ate set 1x a year I did NOT want to pay for another seat or buy seat belt extenders. So after 4 years going back and forth I decided to do the surgery. Just had the sleeve done Sept 27 and am so excited to do the things I haven't been able to for years. My journey started July 2, 2012 with psyc apts, nutrition apts and a ton of other classes and doctor apts. I just weighed myself this morning and weight 229. Here goes the rest of my life! I'm so excited.
