Instead of walking you could try the bicycle or elliptical at the gym

I'm 6 weeks out and I notice a huge difference in my work scrubs. pre op I was in a snug 2X and this morning I fit into a lg size!!!!! I was so excited to come to work today!!!! hahahah let's keep up the great work everyone!

I am a Mom also but because I love my child and don't want him living like I did (overweight and depressed), we don't allow him to eat junk food on a daily basis. Of course, we understand a cookie or ice cream every now and then won't hurt him, he gets it in moderation.

Are you exercising and drinking a lot of Water? Maybe you're retaining Fluid or gaining muscle if you're exercising. Hang in there! Maintaining is better than gaining.

Just returned from my appt. My shoulders feel lighter emotionally - my doctor came in the room and said I look great, and then while looking at my chart, said "Wow, you're doing great! Jesus!" LOL! That made me feel so much better. My beginning weight was 239. DOS weight was 224. I'm now 208.
He said incisions are good - no infection due to my keeping them clean, and that I could go to the gym in four weeks, slowly then build up. He said that will really help later on. Asked if I felt the restriction and if I was swallowing food down. I've been walking and taking the Vitamins. Tiredness is normal. He said eventually hunger and taste of food would return later. Said ketosis is normal. He wants another 30 lbs dropped in three months. I guess that covers it all.
So now in the daily focus of Protein and fluids and health, I've got to learn a different head game, called impatience. I have so many goals ahead, but part of it does involve the weight loss yet to be visible.
Slow and steady wins the race.

I am SO happy! I just got home from my 6 month check up. I am down 88 POUNDS!!!! I am Thrilled! I absolutely LOVE my sleeve! Twelve pounds away from loosing
100 lbs.!! I have never been able to loose that much weight. Ever. I am so thankful fort he sleeve. This surgery is a life saver! I had a HUGE NSV last month. I have not been able to go to the grocery store with out using the electric scooter for over 2 years. Since last month I have been able to use a regular grocery cart and shop on my own sans kids for the help. I can't believe the change I have made. I can walk and shop again!!!!In August I had to go on an airplane. I DID NOT need a seat belt extender! Life is getting so much better! I feel so blessed! I only wish I could have done the surgery a decade (or more!) ago!

Four weeks and 27 pounds lighter!!

I had my surgery this morning and couldn't be happier. The pain is really not as bad as I expected it to be. I had no complications or problems. It took them 30 min to find a vein but that's not a big deal. I got up and walked today and it felt great!
The only bummer is my mouth is EXTREMELY dry due to the anesthesia. I couldn't have any Water today so I just got a moist washcloth and put on my lips/tongue. I am a bit gassy which makes my stomach kinda hurt but that's to be expected. They made 5 incision sites and they look like they will heal into a small scar. Yay
The pain medicine I am taking works wonders and knocks me out every time. I am feeling rested and hopefully I can leave tomorrow morning!

Personally, I think your doctor is off his rocker! The average weight loss in the first month (as I was told by my surgeon) was 10-20lbs. Now, of course there are lots of variables, and the more you have to lose, the more will come off in the first few months. My stats were very similar to yours and although I can't remember exact numbers, I lost between 20 and 25 lbs my first month! What a way to discourage you and make you feel like a failure. You have done awesome!

At 5 days post op, and 11 lbs lost, my only guess is the two things I am realizing are a struggle for me at this stage: the Water and the Protein. Definetely drinking more water will help flush it out. I am not fond of water right now. Maybe focus on at least one or the other for a few weeks and see if you see a change. The benefit of not having lost 44 lbs is the lose skin. We both need to get the mindset that 64ozs a day is the vehicle of fat removal. If we don't get it a vehicle it will linger. Don't give up!!! And congrats on the 22 lb loss!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It helps us who are waiting for our surgery. I know in my heart this is something I should have done years ago, I am 58 yrs old and I want to live life normally for once in my life I want something for me and I choose LIFE.

They let me swish Water in my mouth then spit it out. Everytime I blew on the spirometer thingee my mouth went crazy dry. See if they will let you swish and spit. And when you reach 5 days out be on toilet alert!!

So happy for you! Glad you are not having any complications. I will be in your shoes 6 days from now when it is my turn. Very anxious but excited too.
