Isn't it something!!! I've been a fan of low carb for years! GT's books are really good. Dr. Lustig is good too..
  2. Can you have a different type of Protein.. Ones like the fruit flavored Water but its protien. i think New Whey nutirition makes them.. maybe add one of those to water so you can get both proteing & water? I was thinking of trying that when its my turn...lol
  3. Hi, I was just wondering why some people have a tough time getting their Water or Protein intake... Is it painful or just no desire to drink anything? Thank you!
  4. Did you cut me off this morning? LOL j/k Wishing you the best!!!
  5. Hello.. I'm 5'2..nice to know there are other 'little' ppl out there lol I'm just starting out...initial consultation is wednesday!
  6. I feel the same way sometimes! Theres a book called 'feel the fear and do it anyway'..thats my motto right now lol
  7. I havent had surgery yet but i have tried (the New whey kind) these before..not sure how well she would react but they are 'ok' You can buy these at Vitamin shoppe, GNC, etc... IDS liquid protien http://www.newwheynutrition.com/products.php?category=11
  8. Just wanted to say HELLO ...in Centreville (Fairfax county)..I work in DC...My surgeon will be Dr. Moazzez/INOVA Fair Oaks.... so i think i have pretty much decided I'm gonna do this lol
  9. Me too! I think i have to pay about $800...not too bad tho..
  10. I went to a seminar last night...it was good. I've been to one before like 3 or more years ago. I was surprised to see so many people there. I felt good/comfortable. The doctor and staff seemed nice. The insurance lady was so funny...she was like we will get you approved! they work with a special lawyer that goes after the insurance company for discrimination...interesting. Also they really dont do self pay..they will find some sort of insurance b/c if there is a complication at any point (even years down the road) an insurance company you may have currently will not pay b/c you had an uninsured procedure! (who knew?!!?!) Anyway..consultation next wed.
  11. LOL!! I agree...sometimes i consider it my job to let ppl know when they are being ignorant and stupid! You dont have to tell them what you did but they are nurses..dont they see what obesity does to ppl in the long run? more ppl die from obesity related issues than cancer! Sometimes i dont think my mind is small enough to understand some people!! You do what you gotta do to survive and live you life you want! And another reason is that that attitude may affect the type of care they give to these patients..its a mind thing! How we think affects our behavior!...
  12. I try not to read the comments...ignorance is unhealthy just like those buffets!
  13. *just fainted* nervous lol ..thanks
  14. Hi, I was watching videos on youtube and saw a few ppl with tubes coming out of one of their incisions! I think they are drainage tubes or something..does everyone get them!?!?!? Do they hurt when removed??!?!?!?!? omg!
  15. Awesome post! Thanks for sharing this! Loved it!
  16. Some ppl actually think fat faces look better (and sometimes they do; beauty is in the eye of the beholder)...but i think i can understand your frustration even tho i have never lost any weight. I would just say something like 'thats how blessed i am..beautiful before and beautiful after...thank ya!".....
  17. You look awesome..Congrats! I cant wait to see more pics as you continue to succeed!!!
  18. I have BCBS Ca...this is good to know! I have appts next week! Thk Yu!
  19. Wondering..... do you think you could try a glucerna shake or something with slighly more carbs? Not sure if its allowed. Of course talk to your doctor! For me if i eat low carb and take my meds i have terrible issues keeping my BS "up".. But i bet you're either gonna have to reduce, change or go off meds or start adding some type of carb/sugar with your meds. My thoughts are that the meds work to reduce or keep your BS under control and its carbohydrates that cause insulin response... So i'm thinking if you are not creating a insulin response but taking meds there is an imbalance. At least i think thats whats happening to me... I think its better to keep carbs low and get rid of these meds anyday! Anyway..i know your doc will help you out with this! Take care!
  20. Okay..i'm almost 33 and have never had a BF and when i was talking with someone it went weird too after I told him..lol.. I dont think its horrible - i just think as you are working thru your weight loss you're gonna have to work thru dating until you find someone who is okay or understands there is not always something wrong with a person who has not been in a relationship. I see it like its not me that has the problem..its them! Sorry if i havent dated every man i've met..oh well!! LOL Keep telling the truth! Meet people, make friends, date, hang out, enjoy the life you are creating for yourself!
  21. Thanks..its kinda weird but I almost am never hungry.. i have to go hours without food before I feel hunger. The more i research and think about this the more i can see what my issues are.. This is good.
  22. Okay so doing my research i found doctors will remove 60-85% of your stomach...so I assume if the idea of taking 85% does not sit well with me (which it doesn't lol) I could opt for... say 70%??? I have a seminar next week and appt the following but this has been on my mind so i thought i would ask.. Thanks
