  1. Trish- my advice would be to set small goals for yourself, stay positive, work activity into your daily life and find a way to work out that you enjoy! I love spinning classes! Also, listen to everything your nutritionist has to tell you!
  2. If u told me a couple months ago I would be posting a bathing suit pic online, I wouldn't believe you! But I'm on a mini-vacation in Florida and decided I would give it a go! I'm about 5 months post op, my surgery date was November 19, 2012. Pre-op weight- 296. Current weight- 184. Goal weight- 150. 34 more pounds to go to goal!!!
  3. Cottage cheese is amazing with apple butter! Found at Amish farmers markets
  4. Congrats!!!! U are looking great! Keep up the amazing work!
  5. You're doing great!!!! Congrats, keep up the good work!
  6. Yay awesome. I am going to give myself until june 11th, my 24th bday to reach a weight of- 175 pounds. My stats; Surgery date- November 19, 2012 Highest weight- 296 Current weight- 196 Summer goal of 175 means I need to lose 21 pounds!!! I hope I can do it!!!!!
  7. You're right, we're about the same age- I'm 23. And feel free to ask me any questions, I am always super honest and open. Excess skin hasn't been an issue for me. I do have a small amount of looser skin to my lower abdomen and arms, but I am confident that ill be able to tighten up a lot at the gym! You are also doing wonderfully with your weight loss!! Congrats!!
  8. A bunch of my friends (sleevers and non-sleevers) are doing the "Bootcamp" this Monday-Friday that was detailed on another thread. Why don't you try it with us this week?
  9. Thank you all so much! Yes, I had the sleeve November 19th, just over 4 months ago.
  10. I haven't had any stalls yet (virtual knock on wood) my weight is Definitely not coming off as fast as it was immediately post-op, but I'm still losing each week. Thank you so much!
  11. Petra- My surgeon seems to think my success is pretty closely related to my age. He was shocked with my results so far, as I have been. Also, I started at a much higher weight (and shorter height!) than you, so your 37 pounds lost puts you not far from me on the scale. You should be so amazingly proud of yourself for everything u have accomplished and will continue to accomplish! -nurse meg
  12. My surgeon is DR Kakkilaya he practices out of woodstown, nj.
  13. Thanks Everyone for the kind comments! I'm only 23, I used to feel much older being so overweight. Now I think I finally starting to look and feel my age! In response to the question, I just take my weight loss one day at a time. I listen to EVERYTHING my nutritionist tells me, and actually do follow mostly everything. In my program, we don't count calories. The main goal is ensuring 60-80 grams of protein each day. I don't eat many carbs at all, and focus on lean meats and veggies primarily. I also am very active as a nurse, and love spinning classes at my local gym. I truly appreciate all of the kind remarks, they are so encouraging! Also, I'm 5'3"
  14. I just wanted to share my excitement with everyone because today (a couple days shy of 4 months post-op) I REACHED ONE-DERLAND! 15. YOU LOOK FABULOUS! You should be so proud of yourself. What a difference, wow. U go girl!!!
  16. I forgot I wanted to share pics with u guys! First picture is pre-op somewhere around 296 pounds. Second picture was taken in February somewhere around 210 pounds.
  17. Hey November sleeve buddies! I have been LOVING my sleeve so much, my sleeve honestly gave me my life back. I guess it's funny how I didn't even realize how depressed I was until I started feeling happy again! I was sleeved November 19th 2012. My highest weight was 296. Today, march 10th, 2013 I weighed in at 203! I have lost a total of 93 pounds in a little less than 4 months. I never imagined I would be successful at weight loss at all, let alone this successful! The true marker of this journey has been everything I've gained...my confidence, better relationships with my friends and boyfriend, a healthy and active way of life. I never could imagine that ONE decision could change my life so much. I almost cried at my follow up appointment a few weeks ago when I was trying to tell my surgeon (and respected coworker) how much he has changed my life.... He's still continuing to push for me to meet all of my goals...including him currently advocating to have me specialize in operating room nursing and be there beside him during surgeries! Congratulations to everyone for your OUTSTANDING successes, continuing hard work and dedication! ????❤????????????
