  1. Hi Everyone! Has anyone had pain in their hips AFTER they have lost weight? I'm 7 weeks out and 43 lbs down and my hips hurt in the morning and after sitting at work for long periods of time. The pain is reduced or goes away after a few steps, but its painful when I am still. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what the cause/cure is? Thanks!
  2. Hw 368 Jul 7 Dos 316. Oct 1 8mo 205. Jun 9 Weight loss really slowed down at 6 months and now I need to work at keeping my cals at 1000/day. Its great to see your goal and know you will reach it in a month or two.
  3. Congrats! Seeing my knuckles for the first time in 15 years was a big deal for me as well. Other NSVs - seeing my collarbones and being able to wrap my fingers around my wrist for the first time!

Did you have a catheter ?

No need to sue and sorry if I scared anyone. In this case, I think honesty is the best policy and a little discomfort was well worth the results. My biggest issues were that I could not pee straight for a few days and the nurse stood at the bathroom door to confirm my kidneys were working properly.

Did you have a catheter ?

I asked my doctor not to use a catheter at my pre-op appointment and he agreed. The day of surgery, I woke up screaming in pain in the recovery room as they removed the catheter. It was painfull enough to wake me up from the anesthesia as it was still wearing off. The pain was over quickly and I imediately went back a sleep. I still have dreams about waking up in pain, but never brought it up to my doctor as I was more concerned about my recovery. Should I have said something? I go in for my 6 month follow up on April 19th and I'm down 93 lbs from DOS, 145 lbs from my highest.

    7 months post op

    Nice work!
  7. 6 months post-op on Sunday and I'm down 111lbs since my pre-op diet. My weightloss is now 1-2lbs per week, previously I averaged 3-4lbs each week. Only 34lbs to goal and it can't come soon enough!

    October sleevers...check in

Mostly Protein, with limited carbs and at least 50oz of Water (I count the Protein shake as part of my daily liquid requirements) Premier Protein shake every morning, half at 8am and the second at 10am. lunch is typically 3-4 oz of chicken, turkey, fish or shrimp with a few veggies Afternoon snack is a low carb Protein Bar dinner includes more fish, chicken, turkey or maybe steak Evening snack is a low calorie Greek yogurt with some sugar free strawberry or raspberry jelly I walk 2-4 miles 3 times a week and occasionally an extra 5-10 miles on the weekends... My weightloss is slowing from 3-4 lbs per week to 2-3 lbs at almost 6 months, so it's time I start hitting the gym. I've got another 37 lbs to my goal weight and I think that's attainable during the next 4 months. That's about everything I do, except for 1 or 2 drinks a week which stalls my weightloss for the next day or two.

    Any spider sleevers out there?

I beleive the Spider System helped me recover faster with less pain, because I had fewer surgical wounds. What is the SPIDER® Surgical System? The SPIDER® Surgical System is a laparoscopic platform that is used to perform minimally invasive surgery. Unlike conventional rigid laparoscopic surgery, the SPIDER flexible laparoscopic platform allows multiple instruments to be used through one incision. The result may potentially be fewer incisions and a fast recovery for the patient, while providing surgeons with enhanced capabilities. My surgeon demonstrating the Spider System.

  12. Wow, we are big time loosers!
  13. If you have all your paperwork in order and have meet Cigna's requirments (use search function cigna's website), it takes 1 to 2 weeks. They have to present your request to a committee and they might ask for more information, which can drag the process out. I was lucky and I was approved 1 week from when I submitted my request... Good luck!
  14. Hw: 368 Dos: 316 Cw: 228 My surgery was on 10/1/12, so I'm 5.5 months out. Best decision I ever made!
  15. Dr. Alvarez talks about the relationship of developing gallstones after weight loss surgery specifically after the gastric sleeve surgery FYI - I'm 5.5 months out and no gallbladder issues...

    Texas Gastric Sleeve Surgeons

I agree. Sherman Yu did an excellent job for me with no complications. i think his website says $15k if your self pay, but his work was covered by my insurance. He and his partner, terry Scarborough, both utilize the laporscopic approach and you can see Sherman demonstrate this if you search for Yu and spyder surgery on YouTube. FYI - I was alo told by an orthopedic surgen that Dr Scarbrough has the best hands in Houston for Weightloss surgery, but he doesn't accept insurance. The great thing is that yu and Scarbrough assist each other during surgery, so you get two top surgeons for the price of one. I'm 21 weeks out and down 85 lbs since my surgery.
  17. Sleeved Oct. 1st Starting weight 368 8/2/12 Day of Surgery 316 10/1/12 Todays Weight 241 2/18/13 Down 75 pounds from DOS and 127 from my high!
  18. My average monthly weight loss is 13-14 pounds at 4.5 months. I am down 74 pounds from DOS and hope to hit 80 by 5 months... Hope this helps!
  19. 4.5 months post op and concerned the pounds will stop falling off. Doc thinks I might be falling behind the curve too. All the charts show a drastic slow down in months 5,6,7... I'd like to be in onderland by June, but that could be optimistic. If things stay the way they are now, I'll get there, but not if the fat loss slows down. The last three months I've lost 12-13 pounds consistently, so I'm upping my workouts and keeping my calories at or below 900 per day. Thoughts or insights?
