  1. I was back in action immediately. Slow. But up and at 'em.
  2. How to find a truly unbiased study? How to convince people it is truly unbiased? Those two objectives consistently prove to be mutually exclusively. I think my "mutually exclusive" statement is both unbiased and accurate but alas, there will be naysayers....
  3. Merry Christmas to all!
  4. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/244835-dr-aceves-mexicali-and-me/ Here it is.
  5. I had surgery with Dr. Aceves in March. My experience was really very good. I wrote a detailed account pretty play by play, down to my first "shart" and first postop "poo". Lol! I will post the link.
  6. Probably cheaper than a sleeve surgery. Less chance of a leak. But someone would find a way to eat around it.....I think I could stick donuts in my vitamix and drink them through a straw. Or malted milkshakes.... Mmmmmmm.
  7. It's sometimes best to backtrack to a previous stage like purée or full liquids rather than push yourself too far. Go back a stage or two for a week. Then maybe test the waters...
  8. This post reads like an infomercial - "But wait, there's more!"
  9. I want curves. I want to feel/look feminine and womanly.
  10. I don't like those galleries. I've looked before but it stresses me out comparing myself to another. In my mind, I'm the one who will always be lacking...
  11. It's funny(funny strange, not funny ha ha). When people compliment my weight loss progress to date I always respond "thanx, but I still have so far to go."
  12. I have a great quinoa and black bean chili recipe. Soooooo flavorful. http://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/217002/quinoa-and-black-bean-chili
  13. The suicide hotline is free and they can direct you to any free aid in your area.
  14. Check for a Crisis Center in your area. Call the suicide hotline and they can direct you further. Take action. There is help out there.
  15. Ditto that with OCD, a form called Pure O, and being a compulsive overeater. It can be all consuming.
  16. The Stand is about the superflu epidemic bad that which follows. A great book but very long! Under the Dome is good. Not horror. More a book on human nature.
  17. 11/22/63 is a great book even if you're not a fan of the horror genre. I lost hours of sleep due to that book because I couldn't stop reading it...
  18. My family has been wonderfully supportive and my aunt and uncle have had WLS too. RNY and the sleeve. When the subject comes up it's more about sharing info and helping. Those who've never had are more curious than critical.
  19. Do ya hear me clucking, big chicken?
  20. I just reread Gone Girl. Looooove that book. Just finished Sycamore Road. It was a good read. The Stand is a kickass King book. If you haven't yet, I suggest 11/22/63 by King.
  21. I agree that is not productive to generalize people. And there is huge difference between "addict" and bad habits. I had a similar wine habit and I saw its potential for becoming more. Scary feeling. Earlier in the thread the OP said they *couldn't* control it, or something to that effect. The OP then agreed they were an addict. Then, as soon as someone said "it's okay you cheated" they latched onto that post like a lifeline. I'm not saying they do or don't need therapy. I guess I'm saying therapy shouldn't be suggested or dismissed flippantly or offhandedly. People are wont to do just that...
  22. A self proclaimed food addict doesn't need therapy for her "inability" to control her eating?
  23. That's my plan. I withdrew money from my 401K to pay for surgery so the deductions will hopefully balance it out.
