  1. I've done that before just with some of my regular "dieting"...I cut out sugars and caffeine and my body freaks out! LOL Seriously though..I've read in several books that the body starts to "detox" and releases lots of nasty toxins that can cause headaches, mood changes, sweats, shakes...you name it! Hope you feel better soon..maybe try drinking lots of Water to flush that gunk out quicker and take some quiet time to attend to yourself with your favorite soft music, aromatherapy scented warm or cool cloths for your poor head (I love lavender oil) and think about all the good that will be coming soon to your life! Best of luck in your upcoming surgery!
  2. I agree! My husband and I went on a 3 hour trail ride this past weekend. We are both larger people but did he get swarmed with all the tiny butt, buckle bunnies riding around him talking the entire 3 hours about how little they ate, how much they worked out, ect. ect, ect. until he felt like galloping his horse off the next ridgeline?? Nope...just me. The topper was when we were riding along a country road and some ******* had the nerve to yell at me from his front porch rocking chair and tell me I was "too big" for my horse, then laughed at me. He had just commented to the skinny girl in front of me what a nice day it was, how pretty her hat was...UGH!! I was hurt, and angry. I shouldn't have even given him a second thought but that's something that has held me back from doing what I love, even after highly experienced horse people assure me that what I weigh isn't harming my horse (I have a BIG horse).

  4. Hey SweetTee I know exactly how you feel! I've had the feeling of just "existing" off and on for the last 20 some years! There have been so many times I passed on doing something fun because of my weight. I'm a journaling person and when one day I sat down and read some old entries I had myself in tears. So many attempts at getting this weight off, so many years of struggling with loving and forgiving myself for my "failures" then talking myself up to try yet again. I am so thankful I found out about this surgery, thankful I have the means to make it happen, thankful for this chance to finally get past this hurdle in my life and move FORWARD! God willing, I'll be in Tijuana in February having surgery 2 days before my 43rd birthday. I can't think of a better present to myself
  5. glad I found this thread! I'm 5'1 and 217..won't be sleeved until Feb. Love checking out the before and after pics for us short gals. Keep 'em coming!
  6. Sorry to hear that Amanda! I'm biting my nails with worry that I will be able to have enough saved for my surgery in February...I may have to postpone as well! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too
  7. My surgery is scheduled for February and the closer it gets the more I find myself eating. So far I haven't gained any, but it's gotten to the point of where my husband has commented and gotten angry with me. Last night I ate three pieces of chocolate cake. Not one right after another mind you, but within two hours and he was glaring at me and demanding to know "what I was doing". I could only say I was eating it while I still could...
  8. Hello I'm not sleeved yet but have been trying different Protein drinks. I find that the shakes I mix up with my whey Protein Powder give me horrible gas and stomach rumbling regardless of whether I use milk, almond milk or just Water. Oddly enough, another brand of RTD shakes I like (EAS Advant-edge carb control, soy and whey protein, 17g in 11 oz) doesn't seem to bother me, and I drink it rather quickly. I recently found a clear Protein Drink called Protein Ice (whey protein isolate) that has 42 grams of protein in 20 oz. that is problem free as well, that one I put on ice and drink it over a few hours...I'm wondering if it's the amount of protein I take at one time that gives me fits. Maybe you could try smaller quantities more frequently? Good luck!
  9. Ask your mom if she's for hire, I might need help like that after my surgery! LOL
  10. I'm right there with you, my husband says I have a "one track mind" I've got to wait until Mid February..it's sooo hard to be patient after struggling without success for so long
  11. Maybe all the fiber from the blueberries? Sounds yummy, and I bet it was a nice shade of purple
  12. I sure do hate hearing this! I've had pretty bad tailbone pain for 8 mos. now and I haven't even been sleeved yet!! Ahhhhh! Haven't been able to ride my spin bike, or my horse much...hell, I can't even ride the recliner much either, constantly getting up and taking the pressure off. I think some chiropractic adjustment may be in my very near future
  13. I'm following your thread..curious to know as well, LOTS of stretch marks on me
  14. Well now...this clotting disorder news has me bothered. How did you know you should be tested for it? I haven't had any clots as far as I know, but I have a propensity for forming hematomas with my bruises, and I also have varicose veins in my legs. My surgeon is making me wear compression hose and will give me blood thinners, as well as walking a lot. Should I ask about testing for the clotting disorder??

Good for you! I've gone to curves before and the people sure make the difference between just going through the moves and actually having fun while you're doing it. Keep up the good work!
  16. I've heard the "but you're not THAT big" part..well, I suppose I don't appear that big to some people, I'm only 5'1. I refer to myself as the little-big girl...I've had to defend my decision to more than one person, sometimes makes me wish I wouldn't have told anyone. What they don't realize is that I'm more afraid of living the next twenty/thirty years feeling the way I am (or worse) than of dying on the table attempting to improve my life.
  17. Reminds me of the first time I tried chocolate almond milk...I looked at my glass and said "Why have I gone all my life without knowing about you sooner? Scandalous!"
  18. I was wondering about that too..thanks for posting retakk
  19. Hi PH....I think everyone feels that way to some extent. I've been researching since August and have talked myself in and out of having this surgery. I'm self pay as well, headed to Tijuana in Feb. next year. Right now I'm just focusing on the positive. Anyone who takes the time to learn about the bad and good will eventually come to a decision, and then be at peace with it. Once I sent in my deposit, I stopped looking back! You have some time before your surgery, take steps now to lessen the shock of that life change. Get yourself some small plates, small utensils and portion out your food. Try not to eat/drink within 30 min. of each other. Eat small, planned meals and stop carbonated beverages. Baby steps! Best of luck to you!
  20. LOL....I'm not too excited about that NSV as I have neglected to "weed the garden" for so long now I'm afraid of what may be lurking amongst the brush! Anyhoo...congrats on your weightloss
  21. My PCP is so middle of the fence on EVERYTHING. I've asked him over the years about supplements, natural cures, homeopathy and he always said, "I didn't go to that school" or "that's not approved by the FDA". He has always harped on me about my weight so when I went to talk to him about my decision for WLS and to see if he would do my follow up care I thought he would be thrilled. Nope, more middle of the fence...said he didn't support or discourage WLS in his patients, but that he would do my follow up care. I love paying hard earned cash for such mediocre care and advice...(sigh)....If he would have thrown out any negativity like your PCP I would have walked out and looked up another doc that day.
  22. Found it at a local nutrition supplement store, haven't been out yet to check GNC or vitamin shoppe. Here's a link from the manufacturer... http://www.nutrientscience.com/ProteinIce.html
  23. Maybe if that is all you are using for your protein sources you might use that much a day...and yes, if so that WOULD get expensive! I've been looking at it as well, and 20 some bucks for 15 scoops seems pricey to me too
