I Lived Through This Surgery, My Sister Didn't.
When you are ready and it may take years...you will move on but not without her every day in your thoughts and deeds....you have to face and feel all the emotions that come into your soul over what has happened and it is a long and painful process...I understand that and feel you are right you should express yourself and how you are managing..This forum is not just for those who have had it easy but also for those who lost someone or had complications and are still having issues with WLS.... There is definitely too much pressure on you right now and of course you cannot see yourself going on with a natural life...I hope that you will feel at peace eventually and find the strength to go on with your life...You must get to a point where you can breath again and live again...right now that seems like it will never happen but it will..If you work on it in the future...But for now...... Feel how you feel, say what you will and depend on those that love you and care..Don't forget they are seeing life through what ifs too...But that will smother your life and when you are ready you will move forward.... For now you have to go through the process of emotions and hurt and fear and everything else that is happening... You may find this site useful....I know i have in the past to be able to see which stage I am in: http://grief.com/the-five-stages-of-grief/

Anyone else nervous?
I questioned nothing I could not wait to get this on...I was so tired of my life and my health issues..I was ready to roll... I think it is more natural for us to be like you and nervous and timid and down right scared of the unknown... Like the poster said before you have to look at why you have chosen to do this and if the reasons are right for you..Then plow through it! Even though I had researched it for a year before I had it and watched videos on the procedure I know now that I should have been scared, very scared...That said I would do it again for the health changes in me....

Dumb Question But, How Can You Tell If Your Full?
Here is the answer..K The stomach is divided into four sections, each of which has different cells and functions. The sections are: 1) Cardiac region, where the contents of the esophagus empty into the stomach, 2) Fundus, formed by the upper curvature of the organ, 3) Body, the main central region, and 4) Pylorus or atrium, the lower section of the organ that facilitates emptying the contents into the small intestine. Two smooth muscle valves, or sphincters, keep the contents of the stomach contained. They are the: 1) Cardiac or esophageal sphincter, dividing the tract above, and 2) Pyloric sphincter, dividing the stomach from the small intestine. After receiving the bolus (chewed food) the process of peristalsis is started; mixed and churned with gastric juices the bolus is transformed into a semi-liquid substance called chyme. Stomach muscles mix up the food with enzymes and acids to make smaller digestible pieces. The pyloric sphincter, a walnut shaped muscular tube at the stomach outlet, keeps chyme in the stomach until it reaches the right consistency to pass into the small intestine. The food leaves the stomach in small squirts rather than all at once.

I choose not to make the family adhere to my new eating habits. Sure they get some of my new habits but not totally. I've been reading just not really posting but thankya for missing me:) How can we not miss you..your funny as hell!!!!!!!!!!!lol

What was your first "real food" once your restrictions were lifted?
You may find that you cannot digest salad at first...you may want to hold off on that for a bit yet.....It is tough on your system at first.... The first meal I ate when I was finally allowed solids was a chicken wing and mashed carrots and a little mashed potato...My hubby was eating a spinach dip and I begged him for one on a cracker..He held it out to me and I took a little bite..It tasted soooooooooooooo amazing..But I did not reach for another..The next night I repeated the request for a spinach dipped cracker..Again amazing..only one though...Never asked again!! But it did the trick I felt I was maybe normal again.....

Hello! Newbie with Q's :-)
You may not have any trouble with any food..There again you may not like steak after surgery....I had the sleeve and a year + out I can't eat beef or pork...but I love chicken ( brown meat and fish now more then ever before ) lamb too. Is it really that bad if it turns out you can't handle steak for what you will get in return? A healthier you...I think it would be worth the cost for sure...But that is me

Are you happier now that you are thinner?
My experience through this adventure so far has been every emotion practically known to man or woman.....this has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life time..And i have been through a lot in my life..... There are times I think the world is my oyster and I have been so happy I feel almost out of control...there have been times I have felt so dark it is a wonder to me that I can go on.... I did this for health reasons and the fact that I could not hug my grand daughter close to me.....some of the other reasons were there too but they did not enter my mind until after..... I will always see this as the best thing I ever did for myself and the people i love...but I have lost so much and gained so much in the journey that it is hard to decide if I am happier or not.... One thing I will say though is that I can wear leather now.....I am becoming quite obsessed with it....I own 5 coats now and was looking at a vest on Ebay....Love that!!!!!!!!!!!

I want the weight off NOW!
Sorry...........You will lose it when you lose it..You cannot speed it up! Be patient and enjoy the ride and take the time to learn new habits and help them become part of your life...work on your brain.. Spend time thinking and fixing why you got here in the first place...Trust me it will all happen but when your body is ready...Enjoy the little changes as they come because one day there will be a new you standing there and you really need to know who this new person is and how to keep her forever... i felt like you and now over a year later...no one knows who I am I have changed so much....I was not prepared for the changes I see even though I was like you in a hurry....... I am a learning process and a changing picture all the time..It is hard to keep up.....Enjoy each size down and each NSV....You need them to get you there and stay there....K

Question
Me I try to eat fruit! I do have gluten free low calorie Cookies but they taste like it too...lol

Defeated
Don't do that...K. Push through this...Think about why you are taking this step and work it...It will be good practice for after the surgery when the real hard work begins....Look at it as a learning stage to eat better and change some habits....I waited 4 years for my surgery...i think you will be fine....Just move ahead and make the best of it! You got this.

Gaunt and an Amazon, really!
Nah! I was just playing with you.....I am glad you got on board and express yourself....Personally I am glad you have learned some stuff...I thought I had it all figured out and wrote differently then I do now....Such confidence and air....I was sure humbled and now I see things completely different..Maybe I should have just watched, read and learned from those who were going through it....I cringe when I read my before surgery posts....yikes.....Nice to meet you Crissy....

Gaunt and an Amazon, really!
I guess you never know who is lurking in the background reading about you on here ...Thank you for your kind words..That was very sweet of you to say! Sorry about your friend...I really wonder if they think at all about the effect they can have negative or positive...Doesn't matter I will fumble through like I have so far and pick up all the pieces when it is all over and sorted out....You can believe that!

EGD

Gaunt and an Amazon, really!
I totally feel you because when I haven't seen my mother in a while she will call me and ask "what size are you now because I have some clothes that fits me tooooo big and I wanted to see if they fit you" or she will make comments like maybe your small then me and clothes won't fit you since your always losing weight! So I just tell her that I DONT KNOW WHAT SIZE I AM!!! But it drives me crazy that someone who need to love me no matter what size I am she's always worry about what size we are! About two years ago I lost like 30 pounds but of course I gain them back and more but anyways my sister in law told me one day after I lost the 30 pounds "you better not lose any more weight or you will be my friend-enemy" I'm not telling anybody about my surgery EVER!!! They know I always exercise and I try to eat healthy but I could never lose the weight and I'm sure I will be the topic of there conversation for a loooooong time! I can't wait!!!! That is the reason why most people don't even know I had WLS...Tongues will start to flap and I know it won't be isn't it great...She looks so much better now that she has lost weight..Nope don't want to be fauder for dinner conversation....I know I have changed completely. but I do not feel that anyone knows how much work it is to lose weight and deal with everything that we are dealing with....Unless you are WLS patient and you have at least some of the same journey.... Sure has been a different trip then I thought it would be that is for sure!!!!!!!!!

Raging mad!
Robi...It is just under the surface that we may always want to turn to food for comfort from every emotion that we feel..It is what we learned from the beginning....I am so glad you are going forward with this decision as this tool will give you time to fix your head and help your body at the same time.... Keep us posted K.....Glad you found a place to help you!!!!!!!!!

How often do you weigh?
I hardly ever weigh myself.....I never did when I was fluffy and see no reason to do it constantly now.....I feel the loss in my clothes and how I feel and mostly let the team weigh me......Then i am never disappointed...
