I thought I knew what to expect but not so much...
I remember thinking that this was going to take me all day every day and I would constantly be either eating or drinking. I soon made it fun by trying new foods and recipes that complemented the sleeve. If you are ready for the surgery and can prepare yourself in the food Water area. Then it will give you a chance to fix how you relate to food and why it is a comfort for you and change your attitude about food. the ups and downs of the emotional part can take a toll on you. Most nuts and doctors mention that part only briefly.... That is why it is called a journey. This is about creating a new you. A healthier and stronger and happier you. It will take work but if you are dedicated to it not only by what you eat but fixing how you think..You will surely be a loser. Your doing great!

Question ladies!
I had not had a period for 6 years and then this past Sept. I had one. The doctor feels it is due to the changes in my body..Going into shock feeling so good about the weight loss..lol The issue with me is I am going through the change so it should not have happened. So they have been trying to find other reasons... Your body goes through a whole whack of changes when this happens. But best to check it out like I have...

Eating too fast
I was showed pictures of stretching of the sleeve the last time I was at my teams office....It is not the sleeve that stretches like Lipsticklady said. Actually a pouch can form under your sleeve at the entrance of your small intestines. There you can store extra food if you abuse the sleeve long enough. The problem with that is that you then weaken the small intestine and can cause a whole new set of problems....So it might be good to try not to eat too fast or over fill your sleeve. Putting your fork down after every bite helps me. Also a smaller fork or spoon. Half way through I stop eating and cross my arms over my chest and wait to feel out my sleeve. A lot of time I don't go back eating after I notice the difference as how I feel...

went to the ER with chest pains, guess what it was?
I am so sorry for your news about your hubby. And on top of that your health issues sound extremely painful and uncomfortable. I too am one of the 3-5 % of patients that have continued to have complications due to the sleeve. Mine are different then yours but I can relate to the time passing and things not getting better as far as the body adjusting. Like you this has been a long haul for me and others as well. I am wondering why you do not want to take the bypass option. This could be the answer to your situation. I had Roux-en-Y loop which is a type of bypass that worked for my leak.....I know your problems are different but I don't understand why you would not take any option open to you after 2 years of struggling with this much pain. You are a trooper I tell you that. I am 16 months out and wonder if I can keep up the journey... Still here so I guess so. Like you happy, happy, happy with the weight lost but wish the trouble was over. A lot of patients who had reflux trouble find it does return after a period of time. I hope that soon your health trouble will ease for you. Again so sorry about your hubby. Please let us know how things are going

Stalls are a myth!
I don't believe in stalls or plateaus. I call it " Body at rest " Taking a break, catching up to all the changes...My body needs to do this to heal itself and continue to get healthier. So no stalls for me. Just plain old rest periods.......

Could use some help
Sometimes after these surgeries our bodies reject certain foods. This might be an issue for you too. Me I am 16 months out from the sleeve surgery and still can not eat a sunny side up egg, beef of any kind and can not tolerate white meat in poultry. This could be an issue as well. Stay clear of beef for now and try again later on.

I am not sticking with my pre op diet and my surgery is on March 20th
Two things could happen. your surgeon does not cancel the surgery or he will! The important question here is why are you not sticking to the pre-op diet. You have to get your head in the game or you are heading for trouble and struggles that are sure to come that makes pre-op a picnic. The reason for the pre-op is to shrink your liver. It also helps detox you from the bad carbs and junk we ate before. It makes it easier on our systems not to have to fight so hard afterwards with cravings.... It is really a mind set...Are you ready for the changes that are about to happen? Only you can answer that question... I think you are scared that you will never eat real food again. But that is not true. You will be able to in the future eat anything you want just in moderation and in balance.

Tough tmes
There is no such thing as this is so small. This is your life and you experience what you experience. Remember this is your journey and what you are going through can and will change you forever. All the experiences you are going through are real. Losing your grandfather and staying on course is amazing...You got through a huge stress and was successful. That is nothing small. As you continue your journey there will be small thing and huge light bulb moments for you. Changes that you never knew would happen. That is why it is called a journey. Enjoy the journey it is quite the ride!!!! Some people will not watch commercials at all at first. Me when I see them now i think hmmm how can I make that better. Junk food commercials they just make me wince..... Your going to get the help you need here. There is no wrong thing to ask or wrong answer it is what you gleam from people that will help. There is no better examples to help you then those who are and have gone through the WLS too.

Coincedence?
Me too. Due to a back injury 7 years ago I began to have constant migraines. To the point that I needed treatment every second day that cost me into the thousands of dollars every year....I just wanted to die sometimes..Medication did not even touch them. Since surgery I have only had 5. I am so stoked about that...Days go by without a headache of any kind....

Look, The body is an amazing machine. It will allow us to abuse it and use it and continue to work when it is run down and give us the energy we need to go on when things have tired it out. It has the capability to adjust if you are injured so that no matter what you will still see the horizon...Those are just a few things it does.... i call it the perfect city! One piece goes wrong the rest of the city starts to change to either accommodate it or shut the system down for repairs. Our bodies will go into rest to protect us from what it considers a possible threat to its well being. It will hold off weight loss if it thinks that it is being harmed in any way. Or it feels it does not have enough to continue to keep the city running smooth. It will hold on to fat if it thinks these things. I call it going into a rest period. We have put our bodies into so much stress over the years with weight gain, then weight loss, then gain again. It has constantly adjusted to keep us going until it cannot handle the changes anymore and we begin to see unhealthy conditions creep into our city. You are doing something to fix your body and your body is confused. that is normal. How long has it been since you fed it good quality food like Protein, Water, vegetables and fruits..It is doing the happy dance! But it still does not trust you so it rests and waits to see if you are going to continue to care for it.....When it feels that you are okay, the weight will start to drop off again......If you look at it this way you will see the body the way I do...A marvelous machine or city that will protect itself from serious harm..... You will drop weight again..Your body just needs to catch up... This is how an Osteopath explained the body to me and I loved the examples!!! Made me appreciate the human body more!

Tough tmes
I am so sorry for your loss. it is very difficult to not turn to the old standard of feel good eating. but I notice that you know that that is not the real deal. you said you know better. Doesn't help the feeling though as it was once your comforter. Now you must find another way to comfort yourself and this one will not be avenue to hurt you any more. Causing poor health. I think your doing great since you recognized how you felt and yet did not indulge. You are much stronger then you think. Your on your way to a new, healthier you. And yes it is normal to feel discomfort. You are not healed at all. Your fresh out of the operating room still. Nothing will feel right for a while yet. Although you did not mention what surgery you had anyone of them affect your system and everything will be off balance for a time......

I loved my long blond hair....And it was gone. So I know your frustration. I know it will be in its full glory soon Revs.

The worst time of the year!
I am so sorry about your situation. I know where you are coming from. Usually this time of year they would give me some extra meds to help me through until may. But alas I fired my shrink... I went to my doctor and he gave me some mild sleeping pills and it has not helped the depression but at least I am sleeping at night again... I hate this feeling. So dark and deep...We cannot let it win though...Message me anytime you need me as well.....We can kick it into its rightful place together...k

Finally I have my hair back!
After 15 months of starting at a place of being completely bald because of my hair all falling out due to complications with my surgery. Today I washed my hair and guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was able to gather my hair up on the top of my head and squeeze the excess Water out of it....And the water trickled down my neck... It felt so strange to say the least....It felt so strange that I noticed it right away.....I am so happy I am not looking at my scalp any longer. It has all filled back in.....I was worried it would never really totally come back, but it did.... The only thing is it is wavy and not straight anymore...i can live with that guys.....oh happy day!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy little NSVs
You deserve every single NSV you get. Sometimes when things come easy we don't appreciate it as much as we would if we had to work for it... And you are working hard to get to where you want to be. I am so happy that you are not getting on your own back when you have a bad time. Frankly we all do at one time or another and you are learning as you go along... I loved this happy event......Forward go girl!!!

struggling everyday
Bet you thought having the surgery would be the hardest part right....Nope this is where the work really begins. Until you fix your thinking and figure out why you are snacking like that you will struggle for a while. This is called a journey because it takes time to rebuild the person you want to be. A healthier, happier thinner you. This is part of the great part of having weight loss surgery. It allows you to lose weight while dealing with the issues as they come a long. This is the honeymoon period. We are all in the same boat here dealing with what brought us to this point in our lives. The thing i that if you change your thinking and recognize the triggers that cause you to snack like that. you become aware and are able to say I know why and hopefully replace it with other more productive behavior. Fix the brain and the body will follow. Won't happen over night and we all struggle with it and it will rear its ugly head now and then. You are at the beginning of your journey and I am sure because you have already noticed a problem that you will seek the reasons and the solutions. Don't beat yourself up okay...This is the rest of your life.

Hungry?
I have always had to have some form of Protein at night to get me through to the next day. I small handful of nuts if you can handle it or cheese , yogurt, even a Protein Shake, something that will help you make it through. I have experienced the feeling you are talking about a few times and found that this was the only solution for me. 3 meals at this stage is not enough. Protein intake is so important and if you are only having 3 meals you are not getting in enough. It won't hurt you to have a bit of protein later in the evening.... Okay.
