No restriction with carbs...anyone else?
Corn is a trouble food. It has no value for humans. It goes in one end and out the other. However refined sugar everything is bad.. No exceptions there. but complex carbs make a complete Protein which is easier to break down into glucose. I think white rice and Pasta, white bread..Everything in refined sugar is harmful. But grains, seeds, nuts, brown rice, hemp hearts. Wheat hearts, Beans...whatever help with Fiber and absorption. As patients of ant WLS. We need it all. Dense protein first and foremost. But we need it all. Our absorption is limited and so by eating complete complex carbs we get ready Vitamins and minerals easier. that is what I have read. That is what my nut says and that is what my daughter says who by the way is healthy foods obsessed...( she drives me nuts!!) But what do I know....

Over a year later and I still have a leak...
Yes I left the hospital with a category 5 bedsore and other issues. I had pneumonia and liquid in my lungs and still after 17 months I still have liquid in my left lung. I use a pump when needed. Other issues creeped up on me... It is a long sorted story. But I found that surgery saved my life. I have had no issues with it. Other issues yes. but it was a home run for me as far as the leak went...14 surgeries in hospital and so many things that when that finally happened. It started to turn around for me....I was 1 in over 500 patients my surgeon did at that time and he never had one that he figured would have survived it...But I am here writing you..lol They were cautious with me and I love them so much for their dedication to me. I can never thank my team enough....I am doing so much better..And continue to push forward with my bypass/sleeve combo!

I think mean girl assessment is way offbase... yes less compassionate...but not all of were raised the same me personally I had to be strong to survive so ladies it works both ways. Hope u all have a great day.. Well I was raised by wolves.(symbolically )..and yet I can see that hammering on people who are scared is not the answer either. You get more flies with honey then you do with vinegar..... I know you were raised in a bad situation and I am so sorry for that..But we have all had it bad when we were obese or how we were raised are even now after we have taken this journey. Life is unfair and those who hurt seem to prosper but it would be nice to find a place where we feel safe...Not to be: get going attitude...Some folks are so tired and this is their last stand. Using all the strength they have to make it...Positive feed back can be a great asset you know! As sometimes tough love does it. It depends on the poster and what is being posted... To have an overall kick the ass attitude: no I don't buy that I don't really think you would either......not really!!!!!

No restriction with carbs...anyone else?
Refined sugar is the enemy...Sweets pastries, Cookies..you know the drill. I too eat them once in a while... Complex carbs however form a complete Protein and we need them in our bodies to work as everything we eat turns to sugar so we can function and build ourselves continuously. I posted a site for you with a list of complex carbs that support natural eating habits and you can go from there.... This is how I eat most of the time...I only eat cookies if they are healthy by the way....LOL wink, wink: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/complex-carbohydrates-list.html

Carb ?
Yes simple white carbs are not good. They can cause blood sugar to rise and they are refined sugars. Now complex carbs are part of your every day diet. I am going to post a site where you can look at the reasons why it is necessary to eat Complex carbs. You have to remember that your body takes everything you eat and turns it into sugar or glucose for nutrients.... So when someone says that it is a no no to eat carbs, They are starving your natural system. By eating complex carbs you are forming a complete Protein. That is what you are looking for... http://www.buzzle.com/articles/complex-carbohydrates-list.html

Enough with the leak already. You have had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I still have a leak as well after 17 months but it is covered by this procedure. No one should go through what you have been through. I have been where you are and it is no joke. Your life sways in the balance.....This will work whether the leak gets sealed by this or you have a combo bypass and sleeve... Demand it.....No more it is enough pain for you....I am so sorry you are going through this. I understand completely as I to have ridden that horse! PM me if you need any other information.. K Tell them to do a Roux-en-Y loop

tired
just consider it as body at rest. You are recovering from major surgery. All the drugs and stuff that your body went through it is rebelling by trying to get you to rest so that it can heal and dispose of all the stuff in side that happened. Swelling and everything else. Enjoy the days you feel good but right now take it easy on your self and things will get better a little day by day by day...And pretty soon you will be running marathons!

I Cheated.
You cheated..No! Hummus is good for you. And it can be eaten at this time. In fact...Make some boiled eggs..Take out the yoke and add hummus to it and make deviled eggs from it....It tastes great! The lunch meat may back fire. But the guts of the egg and hummus....good stuff..Eat slow now and add a little paprika.....ummmm

Oh and I am a person who believes that we all need to watch our electrolytes even as far out as I am so I drink 1/2 bottle of G2 Gatorade every day....I can feel a difference when I don't. Only 10 calories in a 1/2 bottle but lots of electrolyte boosters...

Syntrax you can buy at Amazon and Blissful Wellness Medical Weight Loss Centers. Dr. Oz You can look them up on line. Don't get the beef or chicken Soups..Unless you are really wanting a jolt. They are horrible. But you can get Snacks and some soups. drinks and Cookies... All not too bad. I stick with the Fruit Drinks and have tried some of their snacks. Me no likey. You can get some really good crackers and chips at a health food store and sip hummus or cheese with them. Look at the back and follow the serving sizes. I will do that in a pinch. I also keep a Smart For Life bar in my car just in case I get stuck out and can't get a meal. I eat a lot of fish but Tuna hates me....I think I am addicted to fish! So many different kinds and so many ways to make it. Same with chicken.. Anyway..There you have some of it in a nut shell..... K

Weird Post Op Question
If you don't find it there @@BigGirlPanties it will be in any health food section at the grocery stores. I cannot stand the smell of Coconut as suntan oil or vanilla..It makes me want to gag. but it is a really great moisturizer and there is little to no smell afterwards. Just soft silky smoothness...I had trouble writing that last bit!!!LOL

If I don't eat enough Protein I drink a protein juice drink. I like the flavor and it is from Syntrax....nector. They have some cool flavors. I also have protein meals from Blissfull Wellness. I like their hot chocolate. They range from 15 to 30 g of protein per serving. I have just found out that I am reactive Hypoglycemic so now instead of eating 4 times a day I have to try to eat 3 meals and 3 Snacks. I had no idea that I could get that but they said they did not want to tell me because why add another thing onto what I have already have..But like me I got it so they say.LOL I drink 64 oz of Water a day. Ii love water and when it gets closer to summer I will drink more....I can't handle boiled eggs. They are too dense for me so I eat scrambled. Weird to be able to eat it one way but not another. I try very hard to make food interesting and different as much as possible. I eat so many different kinds of things now. Except. Beef it hates me. Pork does not care for me either. But I eat a lot of Beans and legumes, peas, nuts and seeds like squirrels do..lol If I am shopping it takes me forever to buy food because I always look for salt content. Calories and amount of protein. Their are a lot of tasty recipes on Pinterest for salads and healthy meals that look and taste great. I never count calories and I eat very slow....I sometimes can eat more then I need and other times I can't eat much. But I put a plate together. Protein, veggies and carb and I always eat the protein first. Then the veggies and last but not least the carbs. I am a true believer that we need everything in our diets as we live in the real world. But in moderation and balance..... Hope this is what you were looking for.....

Weird Post Op Question
Coconut oil starts out as a solid and turns into a liquid as it reacts to the temperature of your mouth. I find once it is in the liquid state..It is easy and does not taste that bad. My teeth have whitened and my teeth are like they have been freshly cleaned by a dentist. And my breath is great..... So there are several good reasons to take it. Also your teeth are a bone and it can rebuild itself. Taking away toxins and bacteria also good. Just don't swallow the stuff. Then you are swallowing the poison you are trying to get rid of.... I do it 2 times a week now. Did it every day for 2 weeks...I'm going to continue. I love the effects of oil pulling!
-
Either my sense of smell has changed...
Yup..it's true. Every lb you lose all the toxins that were stored in that fat is breaking down and being released. So you will find that some of the changes are not so good. One of them is smell. Another breath...it is always something, but when it is gone your going to be hot!!!!!!!!! damn! lol

@@Kindle thank you. It is what it is. I understand that and some just don't want to see it any other way that is when the damage is done. But alas we have to consider how we ourselves are treating other human beings. These are people with thoughts, ideas and feelings and to treat them with the just push through this sh*t attitude disturbs me. If I can't be kind and helpful and I do not look for a gang to support my thinking or ideas. I want to help. That is the whole idea I hold on this forum. But I have noticed that people do gang up on both ends of the spectrum and that's when it starts to get mean. I don't like it. And I would not tolerate it if it were you they were attacking or anyone else that has a fear of not doing it right...I understand that fear. I lived that fear and I will try to remember that no matter what people ask on here even if it is repetitive. Like I said I have read your posts and they are always knowledgeable and helpful and times you have humor added in so we can see you are okay...That is so helpful when people are scared of the unknown. Whether it hits you right after surgery or a year later we all wonder at some point what the h*ll did we do. If you never think that..I don't believe it..because we are all thinkers and we feel and so therefore we have good and bad days. I feel it is so important to be there if you can and stay clear if you can't help...I have been up front and expressed myself when I should have stayed out of it.....We are all guilty of that. I have never seen you as being non compassionate. I think you underestimate your posts on here.
