  1. You sure picked some heavy hitters as your hero's. Even though I am quite sure that what you have learned is valuable to all of us.... and stated with vigor. I do not plan to set a record ....I already set a record in my neighborhood for being the heaviest.... I eat a little of everything as well....I am keeping refined sugar to a minimum! This way when I finish healing I plan to get moving more as you said... I have hyped over my diets for so long I appreciate this new tool that has been teaching me that I can live with much less and survive quite well.... I know a lady who does these marathons and she carbo loads too.....She looks like she has no body fat at all....She looks amazing.....I will never be that lady....I am just me!
  2. For me..moderation.....i eat about 1 cup of food at a meal...Sometimes less...depends on how my sleeve is doing that day.. I eat what I want....But Protein is first, veggies second, fruit and then carbs..... I am not going to trade one food addiction for another...The whole point of this was to help me learn to eat to live not live to eat.... If I were to look at it as another diet.....I would never make it.. I also want to be able to eat at friends houses and not worry about what they are serving.... So far so good!!!!!!!!!!
  3. No it doesn't....trust me you have gone through the worst of it already...So don't worry...Just go and get it done....You will feel better when they are removed
  4. Sorry....but no ones stomach should agree with fake sugar...that stuff will kill you!! Just saying.
  5. this is one of the only things that worked out for me....I no longer take Nexium. I have had heartburn only twice since I had the sleeve.... I drink orange juice every night with my Iron pill and it does not bother me.....Yes one thing worked out so far....yeah me..LOL
  6. I waited 4 long years to have this surgery....I was on a waiting list...55 here they will no longer do the sleeve...I got called just 6 months before my 55 birthday....So I think waiting a month or even two can't be all that bad..... It will go fast....keep researching and start changing some of your eating habits...K
  7. You look awesome.....don't let anyone tell you different....way to go girl!!!!
  8. Not when I stretch...But...when I drink a cup of tea I can feel the fluid go down the sleeve and the bypass at the same time...I never get used to it and it startles me all the time....
  9. Your way to funny.....what a hoot!!!!
  10. Drink a glass of water 45 min. before your meal....And then when you eat it won't be so bad...I drink water 30 min. After I eat...I still find it hard sometimes but you will adjust...I promise!!!!!!!
  11. Patients girl......when you have a lot to lose it takes longer for you to go down in sizes...As you near your goal you will drop sizes quickly.. I have the same problem as you. I have skinny legs and a spare tire around my middle...Nothing looks good on me right now... I have started to drop sizes though but clothes are too big for me around my butt, legs, shoulders and top..But snug in the waist...grrrrrrrrr It will happen though I know it will...You did not make a mistake about the surgery..You just have little patients.... Relax and enjoy the journey....Stalls happen and will through out your journey. Your body needs to make adjustments and that is why we stall...It is a good thing ( Martha Stewart )
  12. The reason for liquids is to give your sleeve a chance to heal..Your sleeve is new and small....it has not relaxed yet....You can open it or get a leak very easy at this stage..... You got away with it though...but think about your body and the major surgery you just had....It is a long road and trust me....Complications are not worth it for a amazing egg at this time..... You need to allow time to pass so that you will once again have acid in your sleeve to help break down the food..That takes a bit of time for that to start up again after surgery......K
  13. I almost died for the sleeve....5 months in the hospital due to complications.....Had everything go wrong that could....Now 10 months later..... Believe me when I tell you I would do it so fast again it would make your head spin!!!!!!!!!! I can cross my legs. I sleep through the night and am up early everyday. I can now tie my own shoes and sit in a regular chair.... My clothes are a lot smaller then i have worn for years....No one recognizes me at all, no matter where I go i have to tell them it is me...Sometimes I don't and that is entertainment for me...... I do not move the seat back in the car if I am driving. I do not need a belt extender. All my rings don't fit...And now I can wear a 16 in. chain around my neck....Was wearing a 22 in. Chain before..... All the little things that keep happening to me were just a dream I thought! It is my turn now to have my chance to get healthy and active and be thin...I am on my way....I am not saying I am perfect...I make mistakes with the sleeve..But I away's see tomorrow as a new day... For me it was worth all the pain, hardship and expense to be where I am today..... Make sure you are ready for this before you jump in.....It is not for the faint of heart!
  14. As far as food goes......I have learned to look for things that I have never tried before..I read all the labels and have turned it into a game for myself....I eat different things all the time now...EX. fish....I have eaten so many different kinds now and have evaluated which ones I like or don't and there are still so many kinds to try....Make it fun for yourself.....That may spark an interest in eating again...K
  15. Sometimes I think that you get comments both ways....Too big...too small..You can't win ..You have worked so hard.....I would be sensitive as well....It is a lot of work to do this journey...It is not for the faint of heart.... That said...Listen to your wife's opinion and see yourself for who you have become....Amazing difference I think....
  16. I don't know you at all..But I looked at your pics and you don't look older at all...You look healthier for sure..... Some people think that they are looking out for you and others are just thoughtless..... I have lost a lot of weight and still have a lot to lose and people are telling me I look sick and I just say thank you.....Who needs enemies when you have these friends and family...LOL So I know where you are coming from!
  17. There is no maybe in this journey...Whether it takes you 5 months or 2 years to lose your weight it is a forward motion... Mistakes, we all make them...The difference is that we get back up the next day and see it fresh and new... This is your time to excel, get healthy and fit.....Come on...You can do this!!
  18. Stop it will you! You are so hard on yourself I can't believe it....you can get that girl back if you so desire....You have to work it girl....You have to repeat what you did before and it will come....Stop mourning the old and embrace the new....Your really on your way to a better you... But! You are sabotaging yourself by looking at all of this as body image.....There is a lot more going on then just how you look.... Eyes trained to the ground.....come on.....head up and proud because you are doing something about it all. A lot of this is mental work....seeing yourself in a different way....dealing with the reasons why you gained the weight in the first place and getting past the body and looking for improved health..... This is a long road for all of us...I will never look like I did when I was 17....or 54 again....Really don't want to you know...Forward and with confidence is the path you need to embrace......K
  19. I did not know I had sleep Apnea before I had surgery....But when I was in a coma...They discovered I had it and put me on life support....The machine would kick in when I stopped breathing...Any way I used to wake up at night and think I had insomnia and that's why I hardly ever slept, until that time I had no idea.... Now 10 months later I sleep through the night no problem...Rarely wake up unless I have to go pee...lol Big difference for me now.....
  20. a pound is a pound, whether it be a pound of muscle, or a pound of fat. The difference is, there could be a pound of fat sitting on a table next to a pound of muscle, and the pound of muscle would look much smaller than the pound of fat. It takes more fat to equal a pound than muscle. Let me give you a better illustration... I know two women of the same height and weight--both are 5'9'' and 155 lbs. One, however, looks significantly overweight, with flabby arms and an untoned stomach, and one looks very thin and athletic. How is this possible, when they both weigh the same? Well, one woman is composed of mainly fat, and one is composed of hardly any fat. The athletic woman simply has toned arms and legs and strong abs, which result in a lot of muscle, making her weigh as much as an overweight woman of the same height. saw this on a health post....O I have always been told that muscle weighs more then fat.....density is the difference...ok..I learned something today.....
  21. Sounds to me like you are really hitting the exercise hard....Don't forget that muscle weighs more then fat.....And you are probably building muscle....take advantage of the so called stall and allow your body to catch up....Your body is a wonderful tool...It will protect you and care for you...It looks after you and compensates for the things that go wrong.....I would give my right arm to be as close to 199 lbs.....Hey if I did lose my right arm I might!!!! LOL
  22. You are not going to fail as long as you don't graze all day and don't go back to your old eating habits....I refuse to believe that since I have gone through all of this that I am going to allow myself to fail...Fail.....Sorry, just not going to think about it...one day at a time girl...one day at a time....You have gone through a lot to get where you are now...
  23. I am exactly the same way. I start to sneeze and the runny nose thing with just a few bits....BUT! I have learned to use it as a signal anyway because I stop and really examine how I am feeling...So I only eat what I can after that.... It is good after a few bites to put your fork down and feel how much is in your sleeve...not literally, but you can feel the fullness if you learn how your sleeve works.....Yours is different then mine and mine yours..So what works for me might not for you...I will tell you one thing though....If you eat too much it will feel awful and you will either want to throw up or sit there with a huge lump on top of your sleeve...It is a good thing to learn now how much you can eat...
  24. My daughter shops with me too...We actually bicker about our tastes in clothes.....She says I need to get into this century...I laugh because I think she is too old to wear some of the stuff she wears....It is so much fun..We never got to do this before....We have bonded over clothes too now..Love it!!!!!!!
  25. This is your journey...no ones elses...When I came home my husband was watching everything I put in my mouth and always showed up with fruit or Protein or Protein drinks for me to eat..... Eventually I said are you not amazed at how little I need to eat to stay alive.....what does that say about the rest of the population...He pondered it for a while and said I was right.... If he is worried about you you need to ease his mind..If he is trying to sabotage you....not good...Tell him how you are feeling...esp. if you have more energy and feel better with the weight off... My husband has started to trust that I do know something and has stopped bring me food all the time.....We crossed that hurdle....yeah!!!
