I have 4 days to go...and luckily it doesn't bother me... yeah I'd love something to sink my teeth into...but over all it's been ok...gives me great hope for next week

my doc office gave me suggestions...let's see if I remember: robe slippers toothbrush toothpaste brush cpap (if you use one, they tell you to bring yours) pillow...most people feel better with their own...use a colored pillowcase I brought a deck of cards with me last time I was in the hospital, I liked that better than using my phone for games.... good luck! I go Monday!

no drain for sleeve...just for band...never heard anything about a drain... !

Medicaid (in most states) does approve the sleeve as "medically necessary"... and you will be covered 100%... so don't think you need to look for something else; your pcp needs to present it properly...that's the key

you should check with your pcp on that...as there are several meds that they don't want you to take... I take paxil and klonopin, but I am cleared to take them... they don't want you taking anti-inflammatories and blood thinners...those need to be checked by surgeon and pcp...

my pre-op was blood samples for testing... I don't know why you are worried about a weight gain on your pre-op...if you are doing the liquid protein diet, you should be fine... I have been on it 10 days and have lost over 10 pounds... relax! You'll be fine!

You should talk with your doctor...but since gluten is in most carbs...and they want you to use whole wheat products, you should be doing excellent on this plan

funny you should ask...I was just at a pre-surgery meeting last night...and they said, YES pre and post op... low sodium broth, drop in a scrambled up egg when boiling, add garlic, green onions etc if you'd like... but, it's always best to check with YOUR doctor... good luck

Maybe it depends on how overweight you are... my doctor said they have us do it to shrink the liver to make it easier for the laproscopic surgery... ask your docter if you CAN go on the pre-op diet if you are more comfortable with it... I'm on day 10 of my pre-op diet... no problems...just boring

LibbyLou...I'm with you! Been the "fat friend" for as long as I can remember, lost weight and gain it back.... this new tool is going to be awesome!!! I also agree that if your friends are not supportive of your changes, they are not true friends... Always the big girl in class...tallest...biggest... kids were HORRIBLE... I am SO looking forward to being "normal"... and many people have said they have a hard time seeing their new normal in the mirror... good luck to you all! :wub:

Sounds like you have found it! I am so grateful my surgical team is helpful before and after...and have seminars twice a month to attend to keep on track! Good luck to you!

same here...I am scheduled for 10/1 and have my follow up dates scheduled... I would call THEM and check about follow up... it's important!

I thought caffeine was a big "no-no" because it is a hunger generator... i think you should try decaf first!

are you taking your vitamins? have you talked to your doctor? you should not be that exhausted! hope you feel better soon!

My insurance called days before the dr... I started to tingle when she told me I was scheduled for October 1...I called the doctors office...it was 3 MORE DAYS but I got the call that confirmed October 1!!! YEAH!!! as far as up front...every insurance and dr is different... I only had to pay for the specialist upfront... good luck and congrats!
