  1. Hello i was just wondering if anyone has TLC tenncare, and if there where any tips for going through them to get the surgery? Thanks in advance.
  2. Tengal, I know what you mean, I am so scared of surgery, but need it so bad, I hope everything goes well for you, and i will keep you in my prayers. Let us know how you do.
  3. Well you see I have tenncare and this is who they sent me to, so I guess this is who I have to see. I am going to have to finish 3 more weeks of weight watchers before i can do anything else anyway. I may have to start over and do the whole 12 weeks, if they approve me. I hope I hear from them soon. Thanks for the name though if this one don't pan out i will look into that one.
  4. Well I do have a doctor now, he is Dr. Madan from Memphis, has anyone heard of him? I have done some research on him he did the first laproscopic gastric bypass in Memphis and his experience level seems high. Robbie
  5. Hello, I am Robbie and am from West Tn. my doctor will be Dr. Madan, in Memphis, I am trying to get all of my requirements fullfilled to get to the next step. I am on Tenncare and have alot of hoops to jump through. Good Luck to all. Robbie
  6. Thanks faith, I will look around and read some more. I just want to make the right decision, and be happy with my choice. Banding is sounding more like my type of thing than gastric bypass though.
  7. Thank you jfran, i appreciate the comment, i am really struggling with this decision, and don't know what to do, but I do believe God will show me which way to go.
  8. congratulations on your 48lbs. I haven't been banded yet, just getting started on my journey and hope to lose 145 lbs.
  9. Hey just was wondering about weight loss with the lap band. My doctor said generally anywhere from 80 to 100 lb weight loss with the lapband, and lap band is what she is recomending, but i need to lose about 145 lbs. Can I do that with lap band or do i need to see about gastric bypass? I don't know a whole lot and am still researching both. also my left kidney quit due to kidney infections as a child, would that have any affect on getting either? Thanks
  10. Hey does anyone out there have tenncare/tlc, if so how long does it usually take to get approved and what all do you have to do? Just wondering. Thanks
  11. Hello, I don't think you are being selfish at all, I think you are being a loving mother to want to be better ,and live longer, for your children and yourself. I have a quick question for someone, I need to lose about 140lbs, can I do that with the lap band, or would Gastric bypass be the one for me? If your pcp recomends you for lap band, is that what you have to get, or can the surgeon get the insurance company to pay for either? I'm not against the lap band, but i just want to make sure i get the right one for me, which ever it is. Thanks in advance for the help.
  12. Hey, I know how you feel i also have tried WW,South Beach,Adkins,Mayo clinics diet for heart patients, several different diet pills over the counter, and prescribed, the apple and water diet, and many many more, just to lose and gain over and over again. I don't have alot of support, but I do have some, but I am ready for a change. My pcp is very understanding, she is taking care of everything for me, and I am so glad. I think it sounds like you need a new pcp, one that is more up to date with procedures. I believe that LBS is going to change my life for the better, I'm kinda scared, but I believe this is for me, I also have type 2 diabetes, among other morbidities, and i'm 5'1" and weigh 263lbs, and i'm 34 yrs old, i am a mother of 4 children ages 17,13,14,and4 and I know if i don't do something I won't get to see the younger ones grow up, and I am determined to do everything in my power to see them grow up. Well anyway I just want to encourage you to do what is right for you, and not anyone else, and if you need support it's here for you. Good Luck!!!
