  1. Thanks for your stories. One of surgeons I considered doesn't even do them anymore just because he doesn't feel they are effective. do the remove the band and do the sleeve during the same surgery. Best of luck with your new sleeves!
  2. Go find that scale! You will amazed What a few days of the liquid diet will do! I put myself on a modified liquid diet, protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, sensible dinner and tons of water. Lost 8 lbs in 4 days. Totally keeps me motivated!
  3. Yes! Good question! Do tell, please!
  4. Fantastic! Congratulations on the beginning of your new life!
  5. Just curious Why so many of you who had the lap band are now going to the sleeve. Really just curious, I know the lap band is not for me. Thanks in advance for sharing your stories.
  6. If I can't get in touch with the office first thing Monday, insurance company will be my next call. Thought of that too late on Friday.
  7. I am going through the exact same feelings you are. But I got my pic taken with my 5 week old great nephew today and other than the baby I hated how I looked so I am going to move forward. I am also using this forum as inspiration. Feel free to communicated with me too. I can use a few VS buddies!
  8. I'm told the Unjury is fantastic. They have a sampler pack too that comes with two packets of each flavor, a food thermometer nd mixing bottle.
  9. I'm waiting for insurance approval too. You can see my rant about inconsiderate office personal in another post. Mine was submitted last Friday or this past Monday. Better get an answer first thing Monday or I may go sit in insurance ladys office all day Monday till I get an answer.nwhen I spoke to her on monday she said they were booking third week in september . Ithat is what I am shooting for because the school I teach at is closed that Monday and Tuesday . Good luck and keep us posted.
  10. Is there a way to fix the kink? There has to be a way to fix it because the way you are being told to eat is a miserable way to live the rest of your life. I know you don't want another surgery but it would be worth if to be able to eat semi normally. Best wishes. I'm glad you would still do it all over again. Stories like this make me start to rethink getting it done.
  11. So frustrated with the insurance person at my surgeons office. This is the second Friday in a row she has done this to me! Last Friday I called and asked if she received the letter from my PCP and if my paperwork was submitted to insurance yet. Called early enough in the day to expect a call back. No call. Was very annoyed all weekend having to wait for the office again on Monday. Talked to insurance person on Monday and she said she got the letter and paperwork was submitted to insurance. She INSTRUCTED me to call back on Friday for an update. Called back today at 11am. Still hours before 4pm closing time. Left a message that she told me to call her Friday morning for an update. Also asked for a preliminary surgery date. Again no call back. Called office again at 230, went to voice mail. Didn't leave a message this time because I didn't want to be a pain but wishing I had. Is it that hard to return a phone call. It should be a law that if message is left at a Drs. office more 2 hours before the office closes on a Friday, the recipient MUST return the call before going home for the weekend. Even if it's just to say there is no news from insurance. Why should should I have to endure another weekend of frustration. Just had to vent.
  12. FMLA is a federal thing. Your job can't make up its own rules about how to use it. I just googled it quick and it's for an employee who has "a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the essential functions of his or her job" amongst other things. Don't think it will apply to me though. Just guarantees you health benefits, not pay. Don't think it will work for me. I need to keep getting paid. So I will use sick days.
  13. I'm in pa too. Allentown area. Strange there are tons of replies for other states and very few for pa. Wonder what gives! Hoping for a mid September surgery date. Was told to call tomorrow to find out. Cross your fingers for me.
  14. How do you get it covered under FMLA? Is it only if you don't have enough sick days to cover it? Do tell! I was able to use FMLA when I had my c-sections and it was so useful!
  15. Hey mommeof3! Good for you getting it out there and telling them. I am scared to death of telling my mom. She has been over weight most of her life and I can just see her saying, just don't eat as much. You've done it before, do it again. True but the was 15 years and two kids ago. There are possible complications for every type of surgery. I had two c sections. Should I not of had kids because of the possibility lf complications from child birth? Of course not. The drs that do these surgeries are very knowledgable and would not put you at risk. Keep a firm upper lip and do what's best for you. Time to be selfish for once. You will feel better and in turn be a better mommy to your babies!
  16. My surgeon said he would do the sleeve for me (my insurance does cover it) but he wanted to me know that bi-pass has a faster weight loss. I think he was actually trying to talk me into bi-pass. I think insurance companies are just starting to see the benefits of the sleeve. Don't let it get you down. Maybe try calling your insurance and ask of they are considering add the sleeve to their coverage. It may be right around the corner! Good luck and keep posted.
  17. A friend of mine said it felt like having a c section but higher up! Lol. Waiting for my date so I cant help much. Please post about your experience. Congrats and I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  18. I agree. This group is fantastic. I found it purely by accident in the android store. I think it's so cool that I can get the same info on my android, iPad and laptop. I am patiently awaiting my surgery date and hoping the insurance gods are on my side. I am, what I call, "a very healthy fat person." No diabetes, high blood pressure or anything. Just 110 lbs over weight. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.
  19. Just had mine last week and it was a piece of cake. Even got pictures of my ides as a souvie!
