    Frustrated....

How do you get it covered under FMLA? Is it only if you don't have enough sick days to cover it? Do tell! I was able to use FMLA when I had my c-sections and it was so useful!

    Family Issues

Hey mommeof3! Good for you getting it out there and telling them. I am scared to death of telling my mom. She has been over weight most of her life and I can just see her saying, just don't eat as much. You've done it before, do it again. True but the was 15 years and two kids ago. There are possible complications for every type of surgery. I had two c sections. Should I not of had kids because of the possibility lf complications from child birth? Of course not. The drs that do these surgeries are very knowledgable and would not put you at risk. Keep a firm upper lip and do what's best for you. Time to be selfish for once. You will feel better and in turn be a better mommy to your babies!

    Denied...but Yet Approved

My surgeon said he would do the sleeve for me (my insurance does cover it) but he wanted to me know that bi-pass has a faster weight loss. I think he was actually trying to talk me into bi-pass. I think insurance companies are just starting to see the benefits of the sleeve. Don't let it get you down. Maybe try calling your insurance and ask of they are considering add the sleeve to their coverage. It may be right around the corner! Good luck and keep posted.

    Only 2 Appointments Left!

I agree. This group is fantastic. I found it purely by accident in the android store. I think it's so cool that I can get the same info on my android, iPad and laptop. I am patiently awaiting my surgery date and hoping the insurance gods are on my side. I am, what I call, "a very healthy fat person." No diabetes, high blood pressure or anything. Just 110 lbs over weight. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

    Height X Weight = Bmi

You may want to find out if the BMI has to be at the first appt or right before surgery. Many drs make you loose 5% prior to surgery which can put you under again.

    Start Liquids Tomorrow, Surgery 9/4!

Hi Rachel we are the same height and almost the same weight. I'm hoping for a mid September surgery date. Have you done any pre dieting? I was just told to loose 12 lbs but have only lost 5. Haven't been put on any pre surgery diets yet but I may start a liquid one on my own. Hope to hear about how your surgery goes as we are almost in the same "boat".

    Telling Family

My mom is also very opinionated and controlling. She runs away with everything, planning my wedding, toys and clothes for the kids... I am pretty sure I will tell her pre surgery but I want a date in hand so she knows I'm serious and it's not just a spur of the moment thing. Not looking forward to telling her at all but as many of you said, its my life. Just because she gave me life doesnt mean she gets to run it. Not too long after I got married she showed up unannounced at my house (she lives over an hour away so it only happened once) and she saw our motorcycles in the driveway. I get the phone call "since when do you have a motorcycle?" I simply said, since I am married, have my own home, have a job and pay my own bills. That was the end of that. I will have to put the same big girl panties on and just put it out there. Thanks again all.

    Back And Forth...anyone Else?

I'm going through the exact same emotions. I so want to get it done and then I think, OMG this is a huge for the rest of my life thing do I really want to do it? Yes I do! So relieved that there are people out there going through the same stuff. I just think of my kids, and being able to do more with them and being able to fit in seat on the roller coasters and I know this is the right thing for me. I am sure these thoughts will continue but I know this is right for me.
  12. I think it has to be officially documented in some way.
  13. Have you ever done Weight Watchers? My insurance accepted 6 months of continuous weigh ins from WW. Mine were almost a year old too. Good luck. Insurance companies are such a joke. Mine will cover weight loss surgery but not a nutritionist to avoid the surgery. shesh!

    Lose Pre Op Without Starving

Hi. May be a silly question but how do you do the egg whites? Do you hard boil the egg then just eat the whites? And, does the type of grapefruit matter? Thanks. -Nancy J
