  1. Libby I hate the idea of pain. I have a high pain tolerance but when I do feel it I turn into a big baby! Also according to my NUT she said I will be on puréed foods once I leave the hospital so not just a liquid diet which I think wil help me some.
  2. Holly I love the snowblower analogy. I know it's going to be tough but to read what you posted is motivating.
  3. FINALLY!!!!!!! someone with the same surgery date as me! I am glad im not the only one who feels that way.
  4. I guess this is more of a vent or rant or whatever but the closer I get to my actual surgery the more I get the fear of failure. I know of 2 people personally who have been sleeved and are at least 6 months out and one of them actually gained weight and the other 40lbs and then started to gain again. One of these women exercise daily and eats properly yet she is gaining again. I know failure is usually due to wrong diet or not exercising but what if I do all of that and it doesnt work?? I have done my research and know the success rate is very high for sleeve and I try to stay as positive as much as I can but I still get that fear in the back on my head that I will be one of those who fail. I have an amazing husband who is supporting me throughout this whole process but he is the only support I have outside of this site. I have several friends however they have already expressed their opinion about wls on others who have had it and its not good so I have decided its none of their business so I am not telling them. I have another friend who had the full gastric (roux en y) and 1 month out she is eating cheese burgers and fries for lunch so she is not the support that I need thru this because she just ruined the tool that was given to her by the surgeon. I know this is the right thing for me for to do for myself and i plan on going thru with it but just afraid it wont work. I have been overweight my entire life and EVERYTHING that I tried did not work and I know this is true with all of you otherwise you would not have decided on surgery. Sorry again just a nagging thought in my head I had to get out.
  5. I would think it would be an easier transition to post op. I know they are not fun to do but it's all for the best
  6. No pre-op diet required which I would have thought he would want me on for at least 2 day prior. I know a lot of people are on liquid diets for about 2 weeks. I think I am going to do one anyways.
  7. I have gone thru some of the threads for September I think I'm the only one scheduled on 9/21. Anyone else out there getting sleeved with me?
  8. Did you go to MUSC or roper? I am getting sleeved 9/21 at MUSC by Dr. Byrnes.
  9. It depends a lot on what the insurance company requires. I have heard it taking 6 months for some people. I initially brought up the idea of wls to my pcp on 07/17 and he recommended a surgeon. I did not contact the surgeon's office until about 08/13, NUT class on 08/21, initial consult with surgeon on 08/23, psych evaluation on 08/27 and received approval from insurance on 09/04 and surgery date on 09/21.
  10. Geez...I'm wondering if I should do a pre op diet anyways to just make sure there r no issues with my liver. Ugh
  11. I think it all depends on the surgeon. My bmi is 41 and i didnt have to do one and a friend of mine who used the same surgeon was bmi of about 50 and she didn't have to do one.
  12. I was told by my NUT that it can push the food you have eaten down so it allows you to eat more bc you don't feel the fullness like you would just by eating. But I have heard a few different reasons.
  13. I bought a Magic Bullet this past weekend and I LOVE it. I got it from Costco so it has the mugs, the small blender cups and an actual full size blender. It was only $49.99 and I've already used it a lot.
  14. I wish mine was that painless! I really hate tests! I had the 385 true false question test, memory tests, other puzzles(I didn't understand that part) and spent only about 15 mins with the actual dr and all this took 4 hrs. I was starting to get bored lol. I've heard of other people who just talked to the dr for like an hour and got approved. She actually said my OCD may keep me from getting approved bc I may not be able to ritualize thru the day when I'm trying to heal. I was starting to think she was the crazy one lol
  15. Yay! Hopefully urs approval process doesn't take long! Mine was approved in just a few days!
  16. That is very reassuring! I was afraid that not doing one will cause set backs after surgery but hearing the both of you say u are fine after surgery is awesome. And I can't wait to be lighter 70lbs!
  17. Ok so now that I have my surgery date I'm getting super excited but the one thing I was told is no preop diet that I have to do. I am wondering if I should do one anyways to prepare for what's to come after surgery? Does anyone know someone who did not have to do one and did not ..I guess succeed...after surgery? I think that is my fear..failure.
  18. Yeah they were gonna set it for this Friday but I need to finish this quarter for school. I just started this whole process with my nutrition class on 8/21. It's crazy how fast all this is moving
  19. Ok so I just got a call from the patient cord at the dr office and eveything has been approved. They just sent my info to the insurance company on Wednesday and I already have approval. My surgery date is September 21! This is all really real now!
  20. Wow! That is fast! Hopefully I get info on my survey date on Thursday:)
