Mine too. And I'm still mad about the mashed potatoes and grits. Go State must be southern, no one else likes grits!

I travel A LOT, especially internationally. I've never had an issue packing a shaker cup and Protein powder with me. I even go out of my way to buy a few individual serving packets of Protein Powder to mix on the plane if it will be a very long flight.
I wouldn't try to carry RTD shakes through, nor would I freak out the TSA fools with unmarked baggies of Protein powder. Those people swabbed my four year old's stuffed rabbit for explosives - they might lose their minds faced with an unknown powder.
Honestly, I just traveled FORTY FOUR hours on four different flights and two different airlines. I had my trusty shaker cup and protein packets (and protein bars) with me the whole time.

AlwaysSeating, I think the Dr. Are concerned that our stomachs aren't healed yet. That's why the say no food. Also, as sick as I am of shakes, I will drink them so my hair doesn't fall out. That's a risk I cannot take!

Hi everyone, I just got home from a good friend's house and it was the first time I've got to see her and sit and chat since I decided I was definitely going ahead with surgery and got a surgery date.. I was hoping she would be excited for me but instead I got the "why don't you take that money and spend it on a personal trainer and a nutritionist instead? I can show you how to eat vegetarian and you can come work out with me whenever you want." She just doesn't get it and I was so disappointed.. I really shouldn't have expected her (or anyone for that matter) to be supportive and excited. But seriously, I can't believe that in this day and age there are still SO many people who just don't get it. She actually told me that she understands because once when she was younger after having kids she had to lose 30 lbs. LOL I guess I just needed to vent a bit because I'm so tired of people who tell me to "just diet". Like I've never done that
Anyway, I've decided that all the important people that I wanted to know about my surgery now know about it and will be there for me to support me next month when I have surgery. I feel like I need supportive people in my life right now and so I'm SO grateful for all of you!! The rest, well maybe I'll tell them someday and maybe I won't.
God it was so disappointing to have such a good friend be so judgemental about WLS though. *sigh* It reminded me to not have expectations of other people and to be grateful my family is so supportive!!
    Thanks for letting me vent.

If you can get your doctor (even a pcp) to write a note stating it's medically necessary it couldn't hurt.

Maybe you could pack just the powder and Blender Bottle and all you need is Water to add. Or even unflavored Protein Powder (can find at most health food stores if you dont have time to order online) and add it to anything you eat that you can?
Just some ideas....hope others can add more suggestions,

It's funny that you say that. As I am lying in the hospital bed all drugged up, my husband decides to go to the caf to get some lunch. Does he eat his lunch down in the caf? NO! He brings it back up to the room. Do you know what he brought in my room after I have just had all but a teeny tiny bit of my stomack removed.... FRIED CHICKEN! I am southern Carrie, and this is a staple for southern people. ALSO... IT IS ONE OF MY GREATEST WEAKNESSES! If I could have shot him, I would have.
That being said, I do have the most wonderful husband whom is so very supportive. I guess he just lost his brain while I was losing my stomack. LOL

I'm 11 days post-op and the only thing I have tried is sugar free Jello. I was told not to eat until day 14 like you... I never wanted scrambled eggs so bad in my life. I'm not really hungry, I just miss chewing something in my mouth. I am way over the shakes. Bring on the softies!!!

On day 14 my papers say I can have a egg, hard boiled or scrambled. Refried Beans with cheese, string cheese, cottage cheese and canned chicken and tuna. I'm so over this liquid diet!!

Carrie, I am also 10 days out and only told close family and friends. I feel the same way you do. I think I will just tell people that I finally wanted to get healthy and am doing something about the weight.
Some may guess about the surgery and some won't. But eating smaller portions and exercising will only show that you are serious about getting the pounds off. No matter what anyone says to you, keep you head up. You made a great decision to get healthy, let them say what they want. When we are both at our goal weight with ROCKING BODIES... Who will care?

I'm 10 days out and have told the people who matter. I go back to work in a couple weeks and I'm just waiting for the comments..."Carrie, you look great! What are you doing??" which will be nice comments to hear, but I'm just not ready for the whole school (I work at a high school) to talk about me. I know...I need to figure out how to stop caring so much about what people think.
I was thinking of saying gallbladder surgery , which prompted a new diet (low fat) and once I started losing and feeling better I continued... I don't know. It's probably easier to tell the truth but I feel ashamed in a way. The nice thing is that I'm a lower BMI (started at 32), so I know the weight loss will come off slower. So maybe it won't be so obvious...
    What did/do you guys say?
