Okay, you have lost 37% of your excess weight. You are ahead of where I was at 7 weeks and I think I was and still am doing AWESOME!
My point is that you can't compare apples to oranges - you need to look at percentage of excess weight or do like they do on biggest loser which is percentage of your body weight lost. It isn't fair to compare to someone with entirely different circumstances.
There are men who have posted losing over 100# in 3 months. Well, no matter what I did, I couldn't do that so it is completely unreleastic comparison.

What I am upset by is that people think that they should lose the same number of pounds as some person on the internet they know nothing about.
Look, it varies so much by age, gender, and perhaps most importantly - how much overweight they are! You have lost 27 pounds.... well, how much TOTAL do you need to lose to get to a healthy BMI? Let's just imagine your goal weight by the charts is 140, since you didn't provide that info. That would mean you started out with 63# to lose. You lost 27 already which is 43% of your excess! I would have killed to have lost nearly half my excess weight in 7 weeks and even though I lost "big numbers" - I had lost 41# by 7 weeks out that is only 27% of the amount I want to lose. If I go by the BMI charts, losing 41# was only 25% of my "excess weight".
So, I think you are right on target unless your goal weight is like 58 pounds.

I concur with many on the thread. I used to get on the scale every morning for the first couple of months because progress was really fast and furious. Then it slowed down. And stalled. Finally, after about 5 months, I am not really obsessed with weighing myself every day and sometimes not even every week. I think it is because it took a few months to accept the new me. I have also lost a good deal of weight (115 so far) and like the way I look and how I feel. Now I don't feel like seeing progress on the scale is that important. I focus on how I am feeling, how well my clothes are fitting, how much I get out of my workout, etc. There are so many other ways to measure success. I focus on quality of life now and balance. Hope this helps others.

Sleeved 10/19 lost 34 lbs but for the last week & 1/2 not a single pound in fact I loose 2 oz then the next day gain it back and I am so frustrated. At this point I feel like this is all I am going to lose. I drink my Water & get my Protein so guess its time to chuck the dang scale. I feel great though and I am thankful I went thru with surgery. Even if it's only 34 lbs I am no longer on blood pressure meds so frustrated but also very thankful

40 pounds is a TON of weight to lose in one month. It only makes sense that you will slow down temporarily at some point. Be happy with your loss so far and keep on keeping on!! You will lose it all!

Thank you for your response. My carbs are in check too. I'm just going to see what happens the next couple weeks. In the meantime I just put my scale away.

It is totally normal to have the weight loss to slow down. The first month is always the highest loss, and then each month is usually a little less than the last. Put it in this perspective, if everyone lost 40 lbs each and every month, many would reach goal in just 2 months! Your body needs time to adjust. ButtertheBean has a great article link on his profile that talks about stalls and slowed weight loss in the beginning...worth a read!

    Good!!! scales are evil!
I have not had my surgery yet, but I can offer this being on the outside looking in. 40 pounds in one month is incredible! Because you have put the scale away, let's pretend like you lost 20 pounds last month and 24 pounds this month! . Pretty awesome if you ask me!!!!

I was sleeved 10/2. I dropped 23 pounds in my first 10 days. Then nothing for 3 weeks. I realized I don't know why it just happened. Finally I started eating some more and the weight started again. I'll be 6 weeks on tues and I'm down 40lbs. With me it was me not eating enough. But hang in here it's aggravating but it will start again. And dont weigh everyday that will drive you crazy. Lastly remember you can be losing inches even if you aren't losing lbs.

I was sleeved on July 16th & I hv lost 38 lbs & 34.5 inches. I'm not sure what size I would be now (I was 22-24) but this morning I tried on a size 14 dress (that I hv had for years) & I fit in it! Its a bit form fitting & tight so I didnt wear it but I fit in it!

Had my stall a week after surgery, it broke today so almost 2 weeks stalled. My doc said to eat more and see if that helped and it worked for me!

I think I need to revise my goal due to the longest stall in history (ok in my history LOL). Let's say I don't gain anything before thanksgiving!
    Original Weight 188
    Current Weight 155.1 and holding
Goal Weight.....ok 154.1 would be nice!!!! (That takes me out of the obese category and makes me just "fat") LOL
I used to teach a class to bankers on setting goals. I would have never taught them to make such an easy (ya right) goal LMAO!
And let's add a two mile walk three times a week! That I can actually control! Oh...except DS woke up sick so today will be a challenge....grrrrr

Beam me up Scotty you feel bad physically cuz you ate 1/2 junior burgue?? you feel bad "mentally" cuz you had a 1/2 junior burger?
    answer to both questions yes???
if you did hurt your tummy at this early stage, well....your stomach is recuperating - but tummy will forgive you this time
mentally, feel bad??? - once again your tummy will forgive you
its good you feel a little guilty - then you won't do this again for quite a while
eventually, maybe sooner than later, you will be able to eat that burger, or anything else - but in very small quantities
1/2 junior burger isn't bad if you are a few months along - but then again, whats done is done - tomorrow is a new day, don't beat yourself up over the slip up
    take care my friend
    continued luck with recovery
    but.....no burgers yet, ok
