  1. I've spent 5 years trying to get my WLS. I've been open and honest with everyone about my intent. And when it was finally a reality, I became very selective with whom I told. I was even annoyed with my boyfriend for telling his family about it. Today is day 12 post-op and I finally made it Facebook official. I'm not a poster child, but I am an advocate.
  2. I don't know if this is common... But it's something I whipped up pre-op, fell in love with (it's one of my all time comfort foods)... And just fell back in love with it today. Super simple... Make grits (I use 3 Minute Grits) in chicken broth. I use Better Than Bouillion because I can add a bit more and get an amazing chicken flavor. I'm day 12. Already on purée/soft foods. Fantabulous. I think next time I make it I'll make them a little watery and throw in some protein powder to amp up the protein. Yummy!!!!!
  3. I wedge myself between a body pillow and another pillow so I don't roll on my side and hurt myself. Or worse... The other night I slept on my tummy!!! Owie Owie ow!!!!! I suffered for it.
  4. I swear you and I are twinnies. Lol. I was almost in tears last night from that same incision. I desperately wanted to fall asleep on my left side and that was such a major no go. Boyfriend wanted me to take something for pain but I refused. Just wanted to sleep it off. I hate sleeping on my back. I normally toss and turn so all of my body gets equal time on the mattress. I wake up feeling like I'm getting bedsores on my butt from all of this sleeping on my back. Lol.
  5. Thanks for this. I will get some extra fluids before bed too.
  6. I am so sorry you're suffering like this. I agree with what's been posted... Hang in there, it will get better, find a hobby... Anti-depressants are ok! Seriously. I've been on Cymbalta since my marriage failed last November. I was sleeved on the 19th. My surgeon doesn't want me to even think about getting off my Cymbalta for 6-9 months. I understand not wanting to be on them, but they really can make all the difference in the world. It may not necessarily be forever... This is called Situational Depression. Being sleeved is a life altering event. There are many many factors that play into it. You may find a few months of them is enough and you're able to stop. Or you may be like me... Fall head over heels in love with your anti-depressant and refuse to stop taking it even when the situational depression wears off. I'm very glad you've decided to talk with someone. I hope you find some peace soon.
  7. I have a lot of left shoulder pain. I think it's gas on my diaphragm. I had a major hiatal hernia repair with my VSG. I'm assuming I have the pain because of that. I am 11 days out and I still take a few gas x strips each day for it.
  8. No staws yet for me. I tried drinking out of a sports Water bottle and the extra air hurt my tummy. Maybe later. I do drink out of water bottles for crystal light and I haven't had the issue with colored lips.
  9. Me too! I just do a little, take a break, do a little, take a break, wash, rinse, repeat. We can do this!
  10. I spoke with her and my doctors office. I'm off till Thursday then I'll go back light duty. I'm so relieved. I won't be able to have patient contact, and I miss my guys like crazy... But if I can't handle it, at least I won't be leaving my patients and staff high and dry. I have been taking my B12 and Multivitamin. I'm supposed to take the Calcium supplement twice daily but I keep forgetting. I guess I'll have to set an alarm on my phone to remind me. I'll check out the vitamin water zero. Sounds good. I bought New whey Protein shots at Wal-Mart yesterday. 42 grams per shot. I figure if I have a low protein day I'll sip on that for a while to help make up the difference. On the purée food front... I have been working my way through a chicken salad mush I made. Chicken, low fat mayo, relish. I've been enjoying it. I am thinking today I'll make refried black Beans.
  11. I'm a psych nurse. My job is very hands off and I have staff that do most of my grunt work. I'm still just scared that it'll be a wild night and I'll just bottom out. I'm going to call my boss shortly and see what she thinks.
  12. Thank you for this. I'm 11 days post-op. I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and it kicked my butt. I just wanted to cry! I hate being so fatigued. I'm glad it's normal. I'm supposed to return to work this evening and I'm slightly terrified that I'm going to pass out.
  13. I was given a card that requests them to allow me to order off the kids menu or be served a smaller portion with a reduced price. It explains that I've had surgery that reduces the stomach to 1/10th the normal size. I haven't used it yet since I'm only 10 days post op. I thought that was really cool of them.
