My Sleeved Tummy got a reaction from mishiegirl2012 in I Wish I'd Known...
I wish I would have known just how hard the eating stages are. I'm on puree right now, and I thought it'd be simple. I bought all sorts of things that would be simple to puree and eat...but I didn't realize that certain things would make me feel incredibly nauseous--or that my stomach would hate them.
I also wish I knew just how hard this surgery actually would be. Before I made up my mind, I watched tons of vids and did a lot of research. It seemed most people had an incredibly easy time. For me, it's been a lot rougher than I expected.
But... on a positive note, I wish I would have known that I would succeed. I spent a lot of time pre-surgery worrying that I wouldn't lose anything. But, it's been 2.5 weeks and I've lost 25 pounds!

I think that when someone really loves you--and I mean truly and completely--they will accept you at whatever size you are. If he tells you he won't be attracted to you when you are thinner, I would have to say that he doesn't really love you. Not entirely, anyway.
It's no different than a skinny girl gaining weight and all the sudden her husband/boyfriend starts cheating or something. It's shallow.
I'm not saying this is the case, but have you ever thought that maybe he would like you to stay bigger because he is insecure with himself? If you get thin, you might realize just how much "better" you can do.
I, personally, think you should tell him that if he can't accept you for who you are and who you will become...then you both need to move on. You should make that known before you get too involved again, so you're not in so deep.
But, at the end of the day...it is your life and your decision. You have to do what you feel is best for you--whether that involves him or not.
You're doing something fantastic for your health. You will feel so much better! All the best on your weight-loss!

Hello everyone! I'm not Indian, but I am married to an Indian who grew up in Pune. I love to travel to India, it's probably my favorite place on Earth!---part of the reason I decided to have the surgery.
Everything in India is so small!

I definitely feel that way! I had surgery 2.5 weeks ago and everyone keeps telling me I look like I'm losing weight, but I just don't see it.
I don't have a scale at home, so today was the first time I weighed after surgery (at the docs). I was down nearly 25lbs! I seriously expected that I only lost 8 pounds or something.
It's funny how our brains work, and how we don't really see what others see.

My Sleeved Tummy got a reaction from MrsM in Updates By Nov. 2012 Sleevers
Hello Everyone! I was sleeved Nov 6.
I'm doing well, haven't weighed myself...so not sure what I've lost (although I know I've lost something...)
Today is day 10, and they finally allowed me to begin purees. It was beginning to get really difficult to eat nothing but broth, juice, Jello and Water. It wasn't because I was hungry. I don't think I've been hungry at all, actually.
My abdomen is still pretty tender...mostly the largest incision. I can finally manage to get around better and drive today.
I take 2 Tums Ultra and 2 Flintstones Complete everyday...followed by 1 Prevacid. I haven't really had any gas issues, but I have had a lot of trouble pooping. haha
I didn't poop for a week. I started taking Miralax and Colace...and now have had a little success.

I'm doing much better today (day 6 post op). Still have a little incision pain, but not horrible.
    Life is looking up!
I've decided to start a blog to chronicle my adventures with my VSG, so I thought I'd share it with you all...in case anyone is interested.

My Sleeved Tummy got a reaction from FDclerical in Hello Sleeve-Sters!
    Hello Everyone!
I had my VSG on November 6th, early in the morning. Technically I am 4 days post-op, but because I had it so early...I'm saying I'm 5.
I had my surgery at mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. It was done by Dr. Todd Kellogg and a wonderful team of residents, CRNAs, anesthesiologists, nurses and pharmacy personnel. I was very well taken care of.
Dr. Kellogg was absolutely wonderful! He is new to Mayo Clinic, but has practiced at the UofM for the past 15, or so, years. He has a really good bedside manner, and I really felt like he cared about me and my feelings. He explained the different surgeries in detail, and never pressured me to choose one over the other. I really respected that about him. I mean, it is my body, after all.
My surgery had no complications, but I have a lot of trouble tolerating anesthesia. I felt nauseous until just today.
So far I'm having no problems sipping on my Water or chicken broth. I've been getting in between 6-8 glasses the past 2 days. I feel thirsty all the time, so that seems to help. I'm also having no problems with my Vitamin (flinstone's complete) or Calcium supplement (tums ultra). I chew them really well and they go down just fine.
I have not been able to tolerate things that are overly sweet. Vitamin Water Zero is a no go. Isopure Protein water is disgusting. liquid Tylenol is unbearable. Seriously. Did you know they put high fructose corn Syrup in that stuff?! That is crazy (and an entirely separate post...).
As of now, I do not have any feeling of hunger. I don't crave anything or feel like I'm starving. That being said, I will definitely admit that it has been a little hard when I see foods I like. It's not like my body needs them or is craving them...but I feel like my brain is playing tricks.
I know this can't disappear overnight, so I'm paying attention to this and hope to re-train my mind.
I am still on my pain meds, and I've got to say I definitely need them. My large incision (where the stomach was removed) is really sore. It hurts to get up or lay down, but every day is a little better.
I started a little blog to chronicle my adventures with my new tummy. Please check it out, if you would like!
I'm hoping to meet some people who are around my same age (27) and/or sleeved around the same time.
    All the best!

I'm almost two weeks post op. I did well with cold bottled Water, Unjury chicken in water, instant Breakfast with half scoop unflavored unjury mixed with Lactaid milk. The big cans prot powder from the store made me ill...too sweet. Isopure clear...i got down half a bottle punch flavor with crystal lite mixed in. They were nasty.
