erp got a reaction from SummerMarie in This is hard for me
I have some pictures that make me feel the same way. I hope to have the courage to keep a few before photos on my fridge once I become an after to remind me of what I was in denial about for a long time. Thank you for sharing with us. You have accomplished a lot.

erp got a reaction from ProudGrammy in STUCK in a RUT between thin & not fat enough
Betty, sorry you feel that way. I really haven't picked up on that tone here. I have read other posters questioning people's decision to get VSG at any weight with the idea that people need to know that this is a drastic surgery- to make sure people are ready for it. There are lots of "light weight" posters here and several subforums like 50 lbs to lose, etc specifically for low BMI. All posters provide invaluable insight regarding success and failure with VSG. Low BMIers like Iggychick come to mind, we all apperciate her willingness to talk openly about her experience. I was what my DH called a squeaker, I was under 40 bmi and stopped my last diet in order to qualify for ins. You haven't posted much since joining VST but hopefully by participating more you will find the support you are looking for. Please feel free to PM me any time with questions or whatever. Good luck in your journey.

erp got a reaction from Mastiff_mama in Concerned about iron sleeve
I understood grazing to mean eating small amounts of food all day. Never having defined meal times. I don't think Lexysdad is grazing. Generally it take 20 min for our brain to register satiety. If you eat a serving of food and wait awhile to see if you are satiated but find that your not, then it seems like eating a bit more to reach satiety should be ok. None of us want to eat only to then still be hungry.

erp got a reaction from Wrinkle in Are our metabolism screwed forever?
Sleeve of Steel, thank you for posting a sample meal plan.
I'd love to see anyone else's sample day that is over 900 calories as well. My Nut wants me to eat sugar free this and fat free that. I can barely get to 700 cals a day. I do usually buy lowfat dairy but I can't shake this "diet" mentality she's got me in.

erp reacted to My350z06 in Just shy of five months
My life changed on November 5th. I have always shy away from the camera so it was hard for me to find a before pic of me on my phone. The before pic has to be around my heaviest of 390 but surgery weight was 377. I am at 282 currently so a 95 lb loss.
I hope the pics load

erp reacted to orthoman in Non sleeve benefit
Well it's now 3 months postoperative and about 40 pounds gone, and I can finally wear my lab coats again ! I bet it's been three year since I've been able to wear them, and I was so stubborn because I absolutely refused to buy bigger ones.

I never had a "nervous" stomach until I was sleeved, now my emotions totally affect how much ( if anything) i can eat/drink.

I am one day behind you, DOS 2/20. My man is an idiot also and says the same thing. I'm down clothing sizes and he says, "nah, no difference." Seriously?!

erp got a reaction from Kimo. in Fruits and vegetables
I eat them. I missed them most early on and cheated with steamed broccoli and cauliflower, imagine that, broccoli a cheat! Yesterday for a snack I had cottage cheese and peaches. I can't wait for summer produce!

erp got a reaction from sastexan4u@yahoo.com in how long after VSG can you have plastics done and does medicaid pay?
I do not know the specifics with Medicaid but generally if your pannis is causing medical issues, e.g. Fungal infections, continuous breakdown of the skin, then insurance will pay. If it purely for cosmetic reasons, e.g. I want to look good in shorts, then it is usually not covered.

Yes.. Stress and emotions can make a difference. Same thing happened with the band as it does with my sleeve.
And so sorry for you dog.. And you.

Sure. Just be sure not to get dehydrated. Keeping your body hydrated is very important. Try to make sure you get your Vitamins in, too. I once went about two days of eating nothing, just drinking, because I didn't want to eat at all. It passed.

Not dumb- you're just worried that you'll never be able to eat pizza again or at least ot for a really long time. Total normal fear and totally unfounded as I proved tonight. :-P

I was craving fruit yesterday. I ate a few pieces of melon and a piece of pineapple, it all went down fine. I considered it all soft foods since the fruit was ripe. My doc said any food is fine- as tolerated. So far I've tolerated most things. I do follow my Nuts advice though and do not eat hard seeds- berries, tough skins- apples, or membranes- citrus yet. I'm tempted to try salad and am thinking I'll start with butter lettuce since it is so soft. I guess my point is try things slowly but definately try them. Good luck.
