You look great!! We have our pictures on our school website. One of my parents told me that I should have my picture changed. ( I think it was a complement.) Keep up the good work!

    Teachers? Where Are The Teachers?

I've been back for a week of teacher meetings. I've been asked if I'm feeling alright and told that I've really lost a lot of weight. My principal asked what I've been doing to lose - I told her high protein, low carbs. (I won't be sharing about my wls at work.)

I changed deodorants 5 days post surgery and that has really helped.

    Protein Bars?

    How much protein per bar?
  7. I wish that I really knew how difficult it would be to take in fluids post surgery. I am only a week out and I have faith it will get better, but right now I'm really struggling.
  8. My surgery is tomorrow, too. I'm packed and nervous. I wish all my sleeve buddies good luck and many prayers. Kim
  9. Marty, I just want to wish you good luck and God speed on your surgery tomorrow. You'll do just great!

    Teachers? Where Are The Teachers?

Hi. I'm a first grade teacher at a private school in Maryland. I've only told 1 of the teachers who is a very dear friend. I will have my surgery this Wednesday. I figure I'll tell if I'm asked and no one will ask. It's a very small school, so if 1 person knows everyone will (teachers and parents).

Up And Down, Up And Down Emotions

Hi Marty, I'll be having surgery on July 18th and have been feeling very much the same as you do. I know you are a teacher and I am, too, and I wonder if I was working now and had something else to focus on that it might be easier not to continually focus on the surgery. I suspect that everyone gets nervous, and even though we know we need this surgery to aid in our long term health, what we are doing is not a small thing and it seems only natural to have some feelings of apprehension as the date gets closer. Don't stop expressing the way that you feel. I do have faith that everything will go well for you and me. We'll soon be on the other side of this journey!

    Who Are You Telling?

Pamela, I think it would be fun to just show up and see the looks on everyone's faces. I'm sure your family will be happy for you once they see the great results.
  13. I didn't gain weight for the insurance approval, but now I am trying not to lose too much more weight preop. I have lost 27 lbs. on the high protein, low carb diet that my surgeon put me on and am in danger of going below 35 BMI. I was told that if I go below that the insurance co. may refuse to pay after surgery.

    3 Weeks Until Vsg!

I'm having my sleeve on July 18 too. I have been on A 2 shake 1 small diet this week and will begin my liquid diet on July 4. I like the Syntrax Nectar shakes, Vanilla torte and Chocolate. They are great mixed with decaf instant coffe and Torani sugar free syrup and a little ice blended together.

    DC/MD/VA sleevers

Hi! I'm in Gaithersburg,MD. I'll be sleeved on July 18 at Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville.
  17. When I first met with my surgeon (April 19), he put me on a high protein. low carb diet. I basically eat 3oz of meat and a serving of green vegetables for lunch and dinner and a protein shake for breakfast. I have lost 21 pounds so far. I hope this helps.

    Sonogram

I had a sonogram to check my gall bladder. Two stones were found so, my surgeon will remove my gall bladder during my sleeve surgery.

    By This Time Tomorrow...

Thank you for posting. This is the way I'm feeling too. I won't be sleeved until July 18. I feeling like I'm mourning for the person i wish I was, someone who could lose and keep off weight without this surgery. But here we are, and I know that both you and I will be great because of the help the sleeve will give us. I'll say a prayer that you fly through surgery well. See you on the other side!

    Books

The Emotional First Aid Kit is a great book. I bought it last week and read it in 2 days. I only wish that I would have bought a paperback copy (I would like to be able to highlight some of it). I'll read it again soon.

Going Back To Work And Vacaiton

Sounds strange. I,too, teach 6 & 7 year olds. I don't think people know all the work that it entails. They probably gave that answer thinking that most patients may work office jobs. I hope he gives you the OK to go away. I know how much teachers need the break!!

    July Sleevers

My surgery date is July 18th and I'm already sick of Protein shakes. I've been on 1 shake and 2 meals per day since April 19. I can't bear to think of a 5 week liquid diet (2 weeks before surgery, 3 weeks after). My doctor is very strict with this eating plan. I would love tojoin you guys on facebook. How do I do it?
  23. I have autoimmune Urticaria (hives). and I take 7 10 antihistamines a day. On my last allergist visit, she suggested that WLS could possibly "reboot"" my system and the hives may go away. I hope so, I've had them for 14 years. Getting rid of hives and weight loss would be heaven on earth!
  24. I've finished everything required for the surgery request to be sent to insurance plus all pre-op testing. How long before your Dr.s office submitted the request to insurance? I get get anyone in the office to tell me.
